  1. You're better off exiting the bts on the opposite side of Sukhumvit road than walk down to the Kasikorn Bank and use the cross over bridge there. Its much easier and safer than exiting on the same side as the hotel.
  2. Its not just you. I don't see the pics in the thread anymore either. They are still there on the server, because I can see them, if I click on the attachment before I enter the thread. However, if I just enter the thread, they don't show.
  3. If you don't know this already, Thai law requires a work permit and proper visa for doing volunteer work.
  4. You might get jetlag, but I don't. What I said holds true for me. Everyone is different.
  5. I have no idea how this hotel is, but I can tell you a little bit about its location. Soi 7/1 is where you'll find the Eden Club, Magic Tables, and Bangkok Beat. Its an easy walk to NEP and the Nana bts station is right there. You can easily walk to Thermae and Cowboy from there as well. Although, if before midnight, you'll probably want to take the bts one station to Asok from Nana to go to Cowboy. Hope this helps.
  6. "Sure, be more open minded...try something new, she says. God, I hope the doctor can get us off this double ended dildo, before anyone notices"
  7. I never used it, but I know a lot of people do. I stay away from any hotels where I have to pay in advance. I prefer to pay at the hotel. This way, if the place sucks, I can check out after the first day without having to try to get my money back for the days I didn't stay.
  8. I had the same problem, but its working again now.
  9. I believe you're referring to the Parkway Inn. Top Inn is next to Parkway.
  10. The advantage I see is that there will be less people in line at the taxi stand. :P
  11. You can click on the English button at the top.
  12. Mondero, Thanks for the reply. The place looks good. I'll give it a try.
  13. I avoid all you US based airlines. I find their flight attendants have the worse attitudes. They're also nothing to look at either. :D xilef, I believe you said you were coming from the middle of the US. So, you're choices are more limited. It would be much easier, if you were flying out of LA or NY. I'v heard decent things about Continental compared to United or American. You could always look into one of the lower cost airlines(JetBlue, etc) to NY and LA. I'm sure you'd have more options for airlines out of those two cities. However, it might be more hassle than its worth though.
  14. xilef, I always find my flights to be the cheapest on the website for the airline I fly. So, if you're going to do it separate and you have an airline you always fly, check their website as well. You might find your flight is cheaper booking direct with the airline than through those other websites.
  15. Anyone know a decent hotel to stay at in Udon Thani?
  16. They are still around, but things have calmed down a bit since the weekend. I wouldn't worry about it. Just use common sense and you'll be fine. Don't worry about your English. Its way better than my French. :D
  17. I agree it should be interesting to see what happens next. I'll be surprised, if there isn't some violence. I hope there isn't, but its looking more and more likely to happen.
  18. The red shirts are constantly going by my place at night and in the morning honking their damn horns. Fortunately, my apartment is in the back corner away from Sukhumvit. So, I don't hear them in my bedroom. I do hear them once I open up the sliding glass doors to the balcony to let the breeze in. I know its been messed up around the Siam station area. Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Central world, etc had been closed for a few days. I'm not sure, if they've reopened yet or not. Since, I haven't gone down that way since they declared the state of emergency. Perhaps, I'll venture down there today for something to do. If I do, I'll post again with an update.
  19. It has to be that cheap. Otherwise, they would be more expensive or the same as a metered taxi. The distance between Nana and Soi Cowboy really isn't that much.
  20. If you're just going from the airport to the Nana area, I really don't see any reason not to use the metered taxi from the airport. Just make sure you get it from the taxi stand and not the people that walk up to you just as you come out of customs. Also, make sure the guy will use the meter. Every once in a while I get a guy that wants to do a set price. Of course, its always way more than it would be using the meter. You'll also have to pay for the tolls. Just give him the money as you get to each toll. If I remember correctly, the tolls are 45 baht and 25 baht. Feel free to correct me, if I'm off on the toll prices.

I found this today while searching around. Its printable flash cards for both consonants and vowels. Flashcards
  22. I let the time at the location I arrived at dictate what I do when I arrive. So, whether its 6pm or 6am when I arrive, I stay up and don't go to bed until the time I normally go to bed. It doesn't matter what time it is where I just came from. Sure, I might be a bit tired that first night I arrive. However, after I go to bed that night and wake up the next day I'm fine.
  23. If you were in Manila during the Pacquio fight, I'm sure you'd have no problem finding a place to watch the fight. Of course, I'm referring to your other post I just read a minute ago about a place to see the fight.
  24. How much longer are you planning to stay? If you do a visa run via a land border crossing, you'll only get an extra 15 days unless of course you have an actual visa. If you fly into Thailand, than you'll get the 30 days. If you get a tourist visa before you leave for Thailand, you'll get 60 days when you arrive. You can then extend that another 30 days for I think 1900 baht(could be wrong on the price). If you get a double entry visa, you can do the process twice.
