  1. It's free of protests and you'll have no problems walking around there. Yes, the bars and clubs are open.
  2. This link should help you for info about getting the taxi at the airport: http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/117-taxi This post should give you an idea about the cost: http://www.bangkok-addicts.com/forum/topic/2019-price-from-nana-to-airport/?p=21072
  3. Landmark is very close to your original hotel. So, you're still staying in the same area as before. Therefore, clear of the protests.
  4. Insomnia Club is now called Insanity. It's closer to the Asok protest site, but you should have no problems.
  5. There are no protesters in that area. You'll be fine.
  6. I believe he is referring to the tourists spots around the country outside of BKK. I wouldn't worry too much, Bob. BKK is still safer than New York City, if you ask me.
  7. You can always just send them an email and ask. I'm sure they have been asked this question before.
  8. You can also just look at the age in English. The Thai ID's now have the dates in English on them. I'm not exactly sure when they started to put the dates in English on them, but it has been for a few years now.
  9. Of course, you can. However, it will come down to what you're comfortable with. If you're not comfortable with what you're reading in the news, maybe you should go some place else. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from the protest sites, if you do decide to come to Bangkok this weekend.
  10. Just hit the report button whenever you see some spam. I was unable to do anything about it yesterday, because I had no internet.
  11. Can I help you with something or are you trying to contact a particular moderator on here?
  12. This link should help you out: http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/location1.html
  13. I haven't heard anything back. I'll ask them again.
  14. I passed this info along. Hopefully, it will be working again soon.
  15. I let the mods there know. I'll get back to you as soon as I hear something. They are aware of the problem and are working on it.
  16. I'v seen this documentary a few times. Its actually been posted on here before a few years ago. In all honesty, I find the footage of Bangkok from about 11 years ago when they shot this to be the most interesting part of the movie.
  17. There are also some useful apps that can be found for your phone and many useful videos on youtube as well. The key is to work on it at least a little bit everyday.
  18. Two books that I have found useful are : Introduction to Thai Reading by Rungrat Luanwarawat Thai Reading for Speaking by Darryl Sweetland
  19. I'm in the process of learning to read and write Thai. Its well worth taking the time to learn it, if you're really interested in knowing the language.
  20. There is a time limit on how long you're able to make edits to a post. If you want, pm me with the link to the post and what changes you want made and I can make the changes for you.
  21. I believe he is referring to Non Specific Urethritis
  22. Its not a case of having a sense of humor. Its a case of being ignorant to history. They simply aren't taught about this in school. They have no idea what these symbols stand for or what the Nazis did.

    Tourist visa

Considering the tourist visa in most cases is only valid for 90 days(meaning you must enter Thailand within 90 days) from the day of issue, I wouldn't get it a few months in advance. The visa usually takes 2 days to get if you apply in person. You hand in your application, passport, and fee in the morning. The next day in the afternoon you pick your passport back up. In some cases, they may ask you to come back in two days instead of the next day. If you need to mail in your application, check the website for the embassy to get an idea of how much time is needed to get your passport sent back in time.
