  1. Some news! Bad news is that the guard at Shama on the Soi 2 entrance today caught me and didn't allow me to pass through that passage to Soi 4 any longer! Good news is a small opening has been made for pedestrian traffic at the old passage at Rajah Hotel! :D I walked back and forth tonight without anyone stopping me, I asked a guy and he said OK to walk through! It's still lots of construction going on and part of the ground at the passage is dirt and hasn't been paved yet, but still walkable! There were lights and work going on inside the new big Restaurant and Pub and also in the two side bars, and there were lots of the staff having a meeting tonite at the site, so my guess is they will soon be opening ! Plahgat
  2. Arrived in Bangkok today and decided to stay on Soi 2 anyway! Passage at Rajah Hotel still closed, but on my way back from Nana Plaza a couple of hours ago with a barfine from Rainbow 4, my barfine said we could walk through the passage at Shama Sukhumvit Serviced Apartments, it is just before you get to Rajah Hotel. She said she had done it before both with customers and alone without problems, and it worked tonight as well, guards on both sides didn't raise an eyebrow as we walked through! :) Plahgat
  3. Any hotels with swimmingpools in the Nana area, that allows outside guests to use their swimmingpool? :) Plahgat
  4. Anyone know if there is another passage further down soi 2? I usually stay down at the end. Plahgat
  5. OK, Thanks a lot! Really appreciate it! :) Gives me time to find another hotel. ;) Plahgat
  6. Planning to stay at "ICheckin Ploenchit" in Sukhumvit Soi 2 soon and just want to know if anyone on the ground right now can tell me if the walkway between Soi 2 and Soi 4 through Rajah Hotels parking lot has reopened yet or not!? Don't want to walk all the way out to Sukhumvit Rd and around to get down to Nana Plaza! If the passage is still closed I will choose a hotel on Soi 4 instead. Plahgat
  7. It now has a new facade and the place has changed name to Serene Asoke Suites! Inside still same as before nothing has changed. Nothing fancy, but simple clean rooms in an excellent location for Soi Cowboy, Transportation and Shopping! I stayed in a SKY/Villa room on top of the building earlier this year. Plahgat
  8. Just back from a 3 nights stay at Heaven@4, and here is my review that I put up on Agoda.com. I stayed 3 nights in a Superior room at Heaven@4 Boutique Hotel 5th floor with window view facing the street. Nice and clean room with King size bed and big bathroom with walk in rainshower. Flatscreen TV with many cable channels, and a DVD player. Small minibar with 2 free bottles of drinking water daily. Water heater for instant coffee and tea making. Cupboard with small safe and bathrobes and slippers. Hairdryer and usual toilet accessories. Lights and AC controlled by touch controls. No cockroaches or mosquitos in room. Friendly reception and staff. I didn't try the free breakfast, because I always eat out. There is an elevator. Great location on Soi 4 for nightlife and bars, only 5 minutes walk to Nana Plaza and 10 minutes to Nana BTS station. Some cons were: front facing room noisy from 20:00-02:00 because of live music and karaoke singing from a bar opposite. Matress was pretty firm that I like, and pillows soft, but that might not suit everyones taste. Lighting in room a bit weak at night. No balcony, but my room did have windows that opened and a street view. There are also no Gym or Swimming pool, and the only restaurant I saw was a couple of sofas and tables just outside the entrance, were breakfast was served. Biggest problem for me was room had probably been sprayed with some antiseptic/insect pesticide/antitobacco or maybe floor cleaning detergent with a strong smell, that gave me an allergic reaction with head ache and a stuffy running nose! Something I have experienced in many hotels though. I usually tell the cleaner to not use any sprays in my room during my stay, and although no spray was used on second and third day, the smell still lingered on! I noticed there were no cockroaches at all in my room, so might be some hidden insecticide bait that emits the smell, not sure? Anyway most hotels do use some chemical sprays in the rooms and most people are not affected by it, so you might be fine staying here! I payed appr. 1100 baht/night on Agoda, including 7% VAT and 10% tax Conclusion: Because of the smell I would never stay here again, but others might not have a problem with it! They do have plenty of other rooms without windows for those who like it more quiet. Staff very friendly and location was great! Plahgat A few pictures of my room: .
  9. They are hired to dance to attract customers, so some will not go or others will demand very high barfines! Plahgat
  10. Rajah area is all under the sledgehammer with new constructions going on at the moment! Plahgat
  11. I stayed at Dawin Hotel in 2014 24 May - 27 May Soi 4, Sukhumvit, Nana 3 nights =3787 Baht Review: Nice hotel with comfortable room, with the usual amenities. Nice soft bed. Nothing much negative about the room, a bit small, lighting a bit weak and view from my room just a concrete wall. Better views from rooms facing the garden on opposite side. No balcony or Kitchenette and windows didn't open. One thing that annoyed me though was the anticeptic smell that permeated the whole hotel from the moment I walked in including my room! I also felt the aircon although cool kept the room very humid and my sheets felt wet. Nice small open swimmingpool on top with lot of sun. Hotelpersonel very friendly and helpful. I payed only half price using some reward bonus points on Agoda. Not too far to walk to NEP in less than 10 minutes. It was a OK hotel, but I wouldn't have payed the full price, there are other cheaper and better value hotels around Nana! Because of the smell, musty humid feel of the room and lack of a balcony I will not stay there again! Plahgat
  12. Hi stayed here for the last three years and it's still a good place to stay! Simple but clean, friendly and reasonably quiet rooms. Rooms comes in different sizes, it's just a small hotel, more like a guesthouse, no restaurant, gym or pool. But for a few nights sleep you be just fine! Great location just around the corner from Soi Cowboy, just opposite the great Mall Terminal 21, Metro just a few meters walk down an escalator and BTS across the street! You can easily walk to Nana Plaza as well in about 20 minutes. Plahgat
  13. This Forum is mainly about Bangkok nightlife, and most mongers don't venture further from the capital than Pattaya! Some will go to Patong in Phuket, but very few go to Hua Hin for mongering, although there are a few beerbars with ladies. I haven't been since 10 years now, but my guess is the prices are similar to the other beerbar areas in Thailand. Plahgat
  14. Never stayed here myself but walk by every year when I'm in Patong. I've heard from many that Yorkshire Inn is a good place to stay on Soi Saen Sabai, it's central and only 2-3 minutes walking to Soi Bangla and all the bars and discos! Easy to take a girl home no need to take expensive tuktuks or MC-taxis! Plahgat
  15. Lots of girls in Patong, no need to bring sand to the beach! Low season in Phuket prices for accomodation drops dramatically, and you will easily find nice new rooms around 700-1000 baht/night! Food prices depends were you eat up to you! Lots of expensive coyote dancers in many front bars along Soi Bangla, but if you go into smaller beerbars in the side sois girls are cheaper. GoGos barfines start from 800 baht and gogo dancers from 2500 baht up. Plahgat
  16. Pavilion Place is an old funky hotel with some dust in the corners and a few small cockroaches around, old standing aircon, noisy minifridge ( no free water) and old tv, bathroom and bedsheats clean enough though. It is surprisingly quiet from noise both from outside and from other rooms, and is situated above the Pink Panther a GoGo on Patpong2, making it very convenient to bring a barfine for a short time or two! Stayed here twice in 2013. If all you want is a bed for a night it's OK and cheap at about 700 baht low season on Agoda.com. 17. Dawin Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 4 Nana, has a small but clean pool with lot of sun. Good standard rooms from 1900 baht on Agoda.com. Only minutes easy walking to Nana Plaza, and 10 minutes to Nana/Ploenchit BTS stations. http://thedawin.com/ Plahgat
  18. I have stayed here many times in the past few years when it was Marco, Monaco and now iCheck Inn Ploenchit Hotel. Booked on Agoda for 900-1300 baht/night tax incl depending on season and room size. Best option for what you get for the price! Great location, just 8 minutes walk down the quiet Soi 2 from Sukhumvit Rd, and about 12 minutes from either Ploenchit or Nana BTS stations. Room on my pictures is a standard Aircon Deluxe, small but well appointed with a Kitchenette and Balcony. Some bigger rooms don't have a Kitchenette though! Pictures was taken a few years ago when it was still called Monaco Hotel. Pros: Comfy big bed, Free Wireless Internet, Samsung LCD TV with DVD/CD player, Comfy TV Lounge-chair, Kitchenette with Microwave, Big Fridge with Mini Bar, Watercooker and Cuttlery, Balcony, Wireless telephone for in and outcalls, Bathroom with Shower over Bath-tub, Hairdryer and free Toiletres, Big closet with inroom safe. It's only 7 minutes walking to the worldfamous nightlife of Nana Plaza via a shortcut through the parkinglot of Rajah Hotel, and from there another 15 minutes brisk walk to Soi Cowboy. Lots of restaurants and shopping around Sukhumvit Rd, including Villa Supermarket at the beginning of the Soi in Ploenchit Center, even MCDonalds, Burger King and Carls Jr if you get tired of Thai food opposite Sukhumvit Rd. It's girlfriendly and they'll keep your guests ID until she leaves, do notice though that this is not a monger hotel, most guests are couples or families, many Indians stay here but still ususally very quiet at night. Non smoking hotel, but if your room has a balcony you can use that for smoking. Cons: Small Deluxe rooms can get cramped for two people. TV mostly News and Sports Channels, no Music or Nature/Science/Animal Channels. I prefer walk-in Rainshower to Bath-tub. Balcony limited space, blocked by Aircon unit. Low lighting at mirrors. No inroom foodservice, has to be delivered from outside hotel. During the heat of the day the walk from Sukhumvit Rd down to the hotel can be quite hot, but they have a Free TukTuk service you can use 24 hours. No swimmingpool or Gym. It's more like a serviced apartment, with a small reception area, but staff are friendly and useful. Other features: Breakfast Restaurant on 2 Floor, open 07:00-10:30 and a 9th Floor outdoors Lounge. Elevator to all floors. and parking area under hotel. I had a great stay here and will be back again for sure! Great value for money! Plahgat
  19. Never ordered food to my room so not sure? Plenty of eating places along Soi 4! Plahgat
  20. I have stayed here twice in 2013 and 2014. I liked the bigger "Deluxe" front-rooms with window-view, and payed for 6 nights 280.62 US$ on Agoda.com. Very soft bed and great bathroom, had all the usual toiletries, and also had an ironing board with iron! Reception area and ground floor has a very low ceiling so if you are 6, 2" or taller watch your head! ;) No gym or swimming pool, restaurant downstairs, near to Nana Plaza about 5 minutes walk only and girlfriendly! It has become very popular though and is usually full! :( Plahgat
  21. Go to the night markets, lots of authentic Thai food, at reasonable prices! Just point and choose what you like to try! Enjoy! : p Plahgat
  22. There are a few in some of the small side alleys on Sukhumvit Soi 4, price about 600-700 baht/night in low season. Orchid Guesthouse,White Orchid Inn 1 & 2, Modelink Inn, Da Bed, Stit Inn, Happy Inn one & two and Jools and so on... Plahgat
  23. Not sure what time they close. Bought 2 pack of Sidegra 100 mg x 4 yesterday at 180 baht each. Plahgat
