Ok it's a while to go yet but I've booked my flight so I figure others may have too. Starting off with 2 weeks in the south - Patong then am going to be in Bangkok for 8 days.
Will be in Bangkok on 24th Jan. Anyone up for some gogo crawls give me a shout.
-
I'm booked in for 8 days in January. Went for a deluxe room.

I've read come comments on forums like Thai visa where Thais have been questioned over this and come out with things like 'yea j like hitler Jews bad ect'
No idea if its true but yes you would have to give them the benefit of doubt that they are not educated enough.
-
Maybe.... Why not just take a trip over to koh samui and bring one over?
-
Not that I know of. Best to bring your own.
-
It's 90 days from when its issued but once you enter you get your 30/60 whatever you applied for. Last year I went in December but got mine done in October. I was just keen I guess.
-
Was trying to find it on google maps street view and can't seem to find it. It's across the road from Ambassador hotel or Climax right? Just looks like some bushes and a house maybe.
-
You need to apply for that one prior to leaving. Suggest doing it say a few months before.
-
Before your 30 days are up I think you would need to go out of the country and on arrival you would get another 30/15 depending on if you went by air/land. Maybe head over to Cambodia or Laos for a few days. Either that or get a 60 day tourist visa.

Nice pics. Shame they don't give the Issan girls a look in. Always the same pasty bangkokians and northerners.
-
I've stayed at Amari before too. Was really nice actually but like you I was not able to find any free rooms for the dates I am going. Strange really as the hotel is huge so must be some sort of comms issue with them and Agoda.
-
Anyone stayed here? I was booked in at Grand President on Soi 11 but they sent me an email saying they had an issue with my dates and had to cancel my booking. I took a look around at some others and this one on Soi 2 looks nice. Not far from Soi 4 walking and has a nice rooftop swimming pool and bar too. I've emailed them and they confirmed they are guest friendly.

Hi mate,
Do you want me to maybe spread the word around on other ex pat forums?
Also if you can't shift this does that mean you may close this down? Although its not as busy at PA it's a great forum with a nice bunch of folk here. Would hate to see it shut down.

Looks good will keep this in mind for when I come. Girl friendly I assume?

Best burger I've had in Thailand was Bangkok Burger in Patong. I think they have a branch in Bangkok too. Not tried firehouse but I intend to.

I was in Krabi in March. There's not a great deal of action there compared to other major resorts, but enough to keep you entertained for 3 or 4 nights.
You want to head to Ao Nang for the best action. There are 2 basic hotspots to hit:
Centre Point, which is a small/medium complex hosting around 10 bars, a ladyboy cabaret show, and 1 gogo bar on the 1st floor (I think). This area gets loud and lively as the night goes on, and you'll find a few freelancers hanging about as well as flirty girls staffing the bars.
The other area is soi sunrise (roughly opposite the McDonalds), a small soi of what you might call classic beer bars. There are about 10 beer bars in the soi, each one with a handful for girls on staff (very mixed quality).
There are also plenty of live music bars and Irish pubs along beach road, and a string of lively bars running up the main road from the South and of the beach - th bars can be good fun and you may find a few freelancers and friendly staff.
Had no idea about centre point. Where abouts is it in relation to the bars opposite macd's? I was with a girl last time so couldn't do so much exploring on that front.
-
There is a little soi of around 10/15 bars opposite macdonalds. There is also a disco I think Anna 69?? More of a place to take a girl tbh but you can score there too if you don't take anyone.
-
Thanks it looks good! And the TR isn't too shabby either. :L-)

Anyone stayed in a Deluxe room here? Agoda says it has a balcony but the actual hotel website doesn't mention it.
-
I usually stay at Omni Tower which is nice but I do like a Balcony to sometimes have a smoke on or relax and watch the world go by. Can anyone reccommend any mid range one on sukhumvit? Ideally closer to Nana.
Hotel Solo on soi 2 is an ok option but I've stayed at Amari Residence before and that's a bit of a walk down there tbh.
-
Thought rather than start a new thread I'd ask here. Anyone stayed at Best Western@ Suk 20? It was listed on a bkk guest friendly site but not sure how up to date that is.
Cheers
-
Sukhumvit generally is a dodgy area, compared to the other places you would probably be staying in. That said your unlikely to be mugged unless you are making a point to show something off. I wear my watch but leave rings and chain at home.

I think Phnom Penh is supposed to be between $35 - $50. That's USD.
Never been Vietnam but would love to. Problem is I can't seem to get bored with Thailand.
