Kiwi bar on Soi 8 has lots of tv screens

Well the Bangkok gods must be smiling on me just when I thought my next Asia work trip might not be until April I am now back out again in just over two weeks! Will be Singapore first so most likely in BKK 12-15 Feb.

Rocky, sorry to ask again, your recommendations have been spot on. Citrus suites looks really good. I'm assuming from the map that its a couple fo minutes walk to NEP. ABout 20 mins to Cowboy? if I was to pick up a "guest" at cowboys for ST, would she be a bit put off by the trek back to the hotel, considering the traffic in the area is a nightmare
Yeah a few mins walk to NP and you pass a couple of nice bars on the way. Previously I’ve just got a tuk tuk back from SC yes can be a rip off 150B or whatever but no girl has complained thus far.

The rooms are fine with Taipan just make sure you get one with a double bed as some of the cheaper ones only have single beds. £50-£60 a night should be fine. Beds are quite hard from memory whereas Citrus Suites has the softest beds I’ve seen in BKK and the fastest WiFi but will be £70 a night a nice sized room. If you can stretch to £100 a night I’d recommend the Landmark. Most hotels will have laundry services I would have thought?

Taipan Hotel is near SC & within your budget. There’s also Sukhumvit Suites. For Nana your best bet may be Majestic Suites but that is literally right next to Nana so can get noisy. You can try Citrus Suites on Soi 6 which is 4* and probably the best of those I’ve mentioned. The cheaper rooms should be in your budget. I’ve stayed at all of these and they’re all guest friendly & within walking distance of SC or NP.

What’s your budget for hotels? They’ll be plenty we can recommend!

When I went I seem to recall it was 300B+ a pint although some beers were like 7/8%+

Depends what you want but pretty much every pharmacy has options for you

Stayed here myself in October and like you say it was cheap & cheerful and good location. WiFi was rubbish though but could have been a one off issue. Could stay again but probably wouldn’t.

Looks like I may have a work trip to China so if all goes to plan I’ll be free 13-17 Jan for some fun will def do at least one night in BKK but may finally make it to Phnom Penh for a few days this time!
-
Yes I’ve stayed in Citrus Suites Soi 6 a few times & like it. Good location for Nana and reasonably priced. Biggest room they do is the “Grand Suite” which is huge and only around £80 (c.3200B) a night.

If they reply with “no” then they may as well not open!

Ha landed at DM last night and think I set a new record - from exiting the plane at 10pm to pulling up outside my hotel (Landmark) in 45 minutes!
Couldnt believe it - immigration was dead my luggage arrived within 2 minutes of me waiting and the traffic was clear!

Thanks for your review. I'm still on tap for my Feb trip and will split my time between here and the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, which I have stayed at before.
Although given QPP would have closed by then is there any point still staying round that way?
-
To DM it has to be a taxi as there’s no train allow up to an hour but should be less

If my November Asia work trip goes to plan I’ll get a couple of nights in BKK 10th & 11th in between my visits to Hong Kong & Singapore
This is confirmed. Staying at Landmark but don’t arrive till late on Sunday night (touchdown 10:15pm at DM) and have to fly out Tuesday pm so will be a short sharp to the point trip!
-
Vasu is closed on Sundays but most of the others are open as far as I know
-
The Grand Hyatt will fit your requirement but I think it’s quite expensive these days. Great location proper 5 star hotel and the ‘smallest’ rooms are comfortably bigger than the smallest rooms in the Landmark
-
So there I was wondering when my next BKK trip would be then out of nowhere I get an invite from an agent to do an event next month 24 hours to clear it with the office and badda bing I'm now in town 3-7th October!
-
7 Heaven BJ bar is close by perhaps you mean that one is def worth a visit if you are on its doorstep!

May be there 10-12 Nov depending on work trip dates. Don’t worry too much about the language barrier most girls speak some sort of English and even if they don’t theres always google translate!
-
For that budget I think Majestic Suites if you want to stay near Nana or Sukhumvit Suites or Tai Pan Hotel if you want to stay near Soi Cowboy
