Going price is 400 THB for Apcalis SX 20mg (4 pills) from the 2 pharmacies I have bought from.

If you want to go big on SPG you should do Westin or Sheraton. You can't beat the locations.

Of the 2 Sheraton wins hands down.

Between aLoft and Four Points, Four Points is my favourite as aLoft the beds are too hard for me and some of the rooms have a musky damp smell to them.

But for points redemption aLoft is good value.

The Holiday Inn on Soi 22 is also in an excellent location to the bars in the area.

I loved the Renaissance but the rates were higher than Marriot 57  for the dates I am here, in fact all throughout the year when I have checked random dates.

I booked at a Marriott Rewards Member rate which is in most cases flexible and cheapest.

The Renaissance did have pre paid rates but still higher than what I am paying.

​I would join Marriott Rewards if you have not already done so and check the dates you want and book on a flexible rate.

If a pre paid deal comes that is within your budget then maybe book it and cancel the flexible booking.

When I stayed at Renaissance the rate actually dropped once so I booked and cancelled the higher rate booking.

I am a Gold Marriott / SPG member so have lounge access here which is worth at least 1,000 THB a day for the breakfast, day time snacks and drinks at night.

Have not ventured up to Octave this trip but last trip went just after 5 and watched the sunset before heading off into Thong Lo a visiting some normal bars.

They have a happy hour on their signature cocktails 5-7PM approx. and regular drinks are expensive but so were the Thong Lo bars we visited.

Tonight standing waiting for the BTS at Phrom Phong station and saw the Hilton which does look a bit far from the station where as Marriott is a few minutes away from Thong Lo station but you do need to be confident crossing Soi 55 and get an understanding of the traffic light system.

They have the taxi club with set fares to everywhere in the area.

Bangkok is cheaper for transport.

As mentioned earlier in the thread 2 main areas, Centre Point and RCA.

And yes you're right it really is not a mongering destination.

If the child is under 12 you should not be paying for them to occupy the room, you can check this on Marriott website and a check for tonight shows same rate for 2 adults or 2 adults and  a child under 12.

I do see the rooms listed as 1 king or 2 twin/single though so not sure on how large the twin is and you do need to pay extra for a roll away.

Somewhere like Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has 2 Queen beds but room rate is higher but if having to pay for the roll away maybe is similar in price to the Marriott.

Booking through the hotels loyalty program will also get you free WiFi.

I have stayed at aLoft, Four Points, The Westin, Le Meridien, Sheraton Grande, Marriott Sukhumvit 57 and Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong so can answer any questions about them.

The soi is called RCA and it's in Ao Nang. The bar you're referring to is Amy's 69 :) still seems like the best bar and Easy to find (it's the first one on the right). Bf is 300.

Girl quoted 2500 LT and against my better judgement went with it.

The Marriott Sukhumvit 57 (Soi 57) has the rooftop bar Octave.

Currently staying there now for an 8 night stay - got it at a good rate.

Have stayed before and it is in an ok location far enough away from the bar scene but also close enough if you want to venture out.

I have not stayed at the Hilton so can not comment on it.

If you have a few hotel stays planned for the year I would go with the one which has the better promotion on i.e Hilton have 2000 points per night promo and Marriott / SPG double points.

I tried Queens Park plaza last visit, it's not a bad place away from the gogo's for a night. I enjoyed it. 

I enjoyed the place last night too.

Songkran in full effect there but I tolerated it, more so than the day before in Soi 4.

I will definitely be heading back there after I get back from my side trip to Ao Nang.

Assuming you mean near Nana Plaza (and not Nana BTS), the JW Marriott is your best option if you want to spend a little more. I have stayed at the Sofitel as well, but it is further from the NEP and JWM is a much better hotel. The Landmark is also a good hotel near the NEP now that they have renovated their rooms, but it is not as nice as JWM.

 

JWM does not have a joiner fee ("girl friendly"). 

Interested as to why you think Sofitel not as good as JWM.

While I have never stayed at JWM reviews I have read have put me off a bit and my experience at Sofitel is 50 / 50.

First time at Sofitel I had a high floor and the room had a great feel about it, second time it was a low floor and poor view.

The suites apparently very good.

Renaissance is the best of the 2 Marriott properties I have stayed at, the other being Marriott Suk 57.

Guessed so ... was actually planning to use Mariott points. I just have enough points left for two nights in a Cat4 or below Mariott property. Other Mariott hotels in BKK are Cat5+

But going by what you're saying doesn't look it's not near to any of the mongering havens.

Next BTS station along is Patpong so not too far for some mongering.

I just looked and it seems Courtyard by Marriott for 2 nights is 40,000 points.

Converting that to SPG is 3 to 1 so 13,333 SPG points and that can get 3 nights during the week at aLoft (4000 per night) or 3 nights over a weekend (10,000) and some points left over.

You could also purchase 10,000 Marriott points for $125 USD and stay at Renaissance but my pick would be convert points and stay at aLoft.

aLoft is not my favourite of the SPG properties I have stayed at due to hard bed and musty smelly rooms at times but location is good within Soi 11.

Can you convert the Marriott points to SPG and redeem at aLoft or maybe Four Points.

How far is Courtyard by Mariott from Nana? Is this hotel any good? Is it close to any one the mongering areas?

It is near Ratchadamri BTS so quite far from Nana.

For around the same price you could stay at aLoft in Soi 11 or Four Points in Soi 15.

The Renaissance next to Chit Lom BTS is very nice but more expensive.

Plenty of options, just need to find one within your budget.

Depending on requirements aLoft Soi 11 ,Four Points Soi 15, Sofitel Sukhumvit, Westin, Sheraton Grande are all places I have stayed and found good and never had an issue myself bringing a girl back to the room.

Landmark might be worth looking at too.

I was reading here or on PA about it and when you buy you are told if questioned where you got it from on entry to say from a friend about 3 years ago or something similar.

Usually they are marked/ stamped by the airline who give them out but these ones I would expect not to be.

From what I read it is purchase at own risk.

I think there was a review on Phachara Suites recently on here or PA in the BKK section and it was not a good review.

End of the day one person's experience can differ from the next so any review should be looked at with others before a decision is made to stay there or not.

Found the Aramin Plaza next to Chidlom BTS has a food hall on the 4th floor with all the stalls set up as street food vendors.

Open during the day time only, found that out tonight ????

It is packed with 99.9% Thais at lunch and is very good for eye candy.

cheapest economy i can get is £1073, compared to the usual £420.  :angry:

 

If i wait a month it comes down to £700 which seems to be about the cheapest i can get with the £ fall (remember airlines buy fuel in dollars)

I thought most airline hedged their fuel costs or whatever they call it.

Do keep a look out at Malaysian Airlines as they have been running specials and had a business class fare for $930 - $1400 AUD return ex Phuket and BKK.

Ex UK and somewhere else was available too I thought, or it might of all be ex Thailand only.

Just need a cheap positioning flight each time.

Last time they had the sale on they had flights over the Christmas period.

You can use Google Flights to check all airlines and flight cost fairly easily and set up fare alerts.
