  1. I went to the Beer Garden in Soi 7 with another BM and we picked up a couple of girls and headed off for a meal.

My girl did not eat much there and when we left to go to the Hotel she wanted Isaan food so stopped at a roadside vendor.

Got back to the hotel and after she had finished and it was time for action she said to cover up for the BJ as she just had spicy food.

You could feel the heat through the rubber, lucky I did not insist on BBBJ

  2. Many hotels to suit many budgets and requirements in BKK :)

I like the SPG group of properties - aLoft, Four Points, Westin, Sheraton etc.

A quick look at spg.com on a random date late April for 10 days shows aLoft available from 60 Euro (Tax not included - something to be aware of) and the others I mentioned at or under your budget on the dates I selected.

They also have a SPG Hot Escapes website where specials come up every Wednesday night until Saturday night for stays within 6 weeks.

Also all currently have a stay 3 pay 2 deal where pricing is lower than any pre paid rate on their website, you can find it under clicking the hotel name and then offers.

aLoft in Soi 11 is near all the action in Soi 11 and a 10 minute walk from Nana Plaza, and a bit more to Soi Cowboy.

Four Points in Soi 15 and a little closer to Soi Cowboy.

The Westin is opposite Terminal 21 and virtually a stone throw from Soi Cowboy as is Sheraton.

All the above have been guest friendly for me.

Four Points, Westin and Sheraton I have gone straight to the room with 2 "guests" before without issue.

  3. Well had my first trip in a taxi from the airport with a meter that ran fast early February and to top it off he wanted an extra 100B over the fare.

Not too pleased paying it and gave him what was on the meter.

Driver was chatty and we joked about stuff on the way to the hotel and he knew full well it was not my first trip, but still he pulled the scam.

I have a photo of the ticket from the airport but the email address to make a complaint bounces back.

  4. On Sunday 2 new girls started at my regular bar both have limited and I mean limited english.

Some of the other girls were playing with my hair all day - it's long and the 2 new ones asked one of the other girls why it was OK to play with it and touch my head.

They thought I might find it offensive, I find it fun as the girls get a kick out of putting my hair into different styles and said it was OK.

Once this was explained to them they thought it was fun to then do the same and sniff my hair etc.

  5. Yes no problem at Aloft taking a "guest" back.

The first time I stayed I had the girl leave ID at reception and she picked it up from security the next morning.

After that I stayed a couple of other times and never bothered, I had seen the girl multiple times before.

Another hotel to check out is Four Points in Soi 15.

Little bit of a walk away from all the action but I prefer it over the Aloft.

The beds at the Aloft are too hard for me and some of the rooms smell a bit musky / damp but the location is good.

Four Points beds are slightly softer and the rooms have a deep bath - nice for bath time fun ;)

They also have a rooftop pool / bar and have pool parties etc. - there is one there this Saturday.

Only issue I had was one trip I had a room directly under and the party continued until 2am and I could hear it.

Good rates can be found for either property at the SPG Hot Escapes website every Wednesday night to Saturday - can only book up to 6 weeks out though.

  6. It is worth having a read of this website -> http://loyaltylobby.com

I am sure they have a comparison of each hotel program etc. but could not find it when I quickly looked.

It also lists the current promotions the Hotel groups are running too when bonus points etc. are on offer.

Also with SPG they have a weekly special that is published Wednesday nights through to Saturday night.

Some good rates can be had if you are prepared to prepay 6 weeks or less out from your intended dates.

If you are prepared to change hotels daily you can get status fairly easy with a lot of the Hotel chains.

Another forum to look over is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/index.php

I am SPG Platinum and the benefits are only worth it at the higher end properties.

  7. Congratulations.  I've stayed at the Sofitel in BKK and the rooms are not much better than the Four Points, and definitely a big step down from the Sheraton Grande.  Only stand out experience was the bakery in the lobby that served excellent croissants.

I have stayed at the Four Points several times, decent hotel but has not been kept up as well when it first opened.  The management of Sheraton probably had limited/no input into the decision to open the Hooters, it was probably made by the local operator under contract from Sheraton and.or the building owner.   Most of the staff I talked to at the hotel said that it was an odd choice to open the Hooters there, especially as it opens directly into the lobby.  It will be a detractor for people looking to rent out meeting rooms or use it as a business hotel (used to be a lot of Japanese business travellers there).  If it starts to be a magnet for freelancers, and given the location on lower Sukhuvmit that is a real possibility, then it will be a big problem from the hotel.

I have stayed at Aloft, Four Points, Westin, Sheraton and Sofitel and the Four Points rooms to me are a standard or 2 below that of Sofitel.

I have had a basic room at both and Sofitel wins hands down.

Too bad, you only stayed in ROOMS in Sofitel. If you don't mind to spend a little more, stay in the suites in the Club Millesime floor. See the post here:

Four points could not compare with Sofitel at all. If you compare Sofitel with Sheraton, they are in the same league. I stayed in Sheraton before Sofitel open. Sheraton is an old hotel at least 15 or even 20 years old. Sofitel is only 3 years old. I like to stay in newer hotels.

I agree on the Four Points not comparable to Sofitel at all.

As a SPG Platinum I obviously like SPG properties for the benefits and Sheraton is my go to if the price is right - there Suite is quite nice.

As for Hooters being at the Four Points, I do find it a bit out of place compared to the Drunken Leprechaun opposite.

To me it would seem to fit in more in Soi 11 maybe with Aloft or similar.

  8. Westin is close and has a great location, but I was let down by the quality at that price point. For about 20 percent more, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is noticeably better. Both are good but I'd pass on the Westin unless there was a special rate.

With the SPG Hot Escapes http://www.spghotescapes.com some good rates can be had at either.

I have stayed at Aloft, 4Points, Westin and Sheraton Grande and Sheraton wins hands down.

While the Sofitel is a little more than a 5 minute walk from Soi Cowboy it too is very nice hotel.

  9. Arrive late morning of the 16th and leave early morning of the 25th.

Going to meet up with Peter Mac later in the week and could be free up until then to grab a beer etc.

Got some issues to work out with a bar girl so if I'm not killed the first day I should be fine haha

I'm late 40's fat and ugly so similar age bracket is sought.

Nothing against you younger fellows :)
