Makha Bucha Day

Recommended Posts

Falls on a Sat. this year and may be there. I know all the good stuff will be closed but will the online be available? can easily just buy extra booze the night before. Do mongers stockpile for thai holidays as if it were a blizzard day?

Yeah, some people buy alcohol the day before.  Online as in escorts? All still going.  Even some still in the street but numbers are way way down.

Just a note thought if the actual day is on a Saturday the bar you are in might hit the lights at 11:59 on the Friday and close.  Ask in the bars the day before or on the Friday so you aren’t caught out with no lady if that’s your plan.  This is not always the case and is dependent on what the police tell them.

In the past some were willing to risk it on some holidays. Music turned down low, girls dressed in a little more that bikinis and the stage was thin, lights outside OFF, drinks in plastic cups only.

If you have to have booze, don't rely on them risking it, stock up.  (Blizzards never slowed me down on a booze run, BTW, kept to police from thinking there was anything wrong with my driving though...)

I'm sure there'll still be some girls available if you can get a number. Some of the massage places will be open, probably not full force with a crowd in front taunting you to come in, but still open, maybe closing early. freelancers will be around. And, bars might be risking it (or have an agreement established, who knows or cares why) it's usually worth strolling by if you're close.

Guys, the google machine actually says the holiday falls on on Sat 2-24 but public observation is on Mon 2-26.  Is that correct?

And if so, I assume the bars would then only be closed on Mon, 2-26?

https://thailandformats.com/no-alcohol-days/2024

the above site lists both the Saturday and Monday as alcohol free days.

the below site lists just the Saturday as alcohol free

I hope that cleared things up… I would think definitely the Saturday but I don’t think the Monday as well
