  1. sorry my bad i guess op did mention the direct access. no rajah alley been closed since maison hotel opened. there’s a gate on the soi 2 side with a guard. last couple of trips i had semi success just telling the guy to open the gate. some now want to see a room card for maison.
  2. Toured this hotel last trip (1 BR suite with balcony) and for the price/location/size proposition, it’s a huge win. Booked up for next trip. Comparable suite at HR runs 4-5x what this place charges plus these rooms have a W/D, assuming they actually work. Not mentioned but it also has direct access to Soi 4 and right near egress to Benjakitti (and thus skywalk to Lumpini) and also offers free bike rentals (or so they told me).
  3. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/3013055/autopsy-underway-on-transwomans-mutilated-body PATTAYA: Forensic police have yet to thoroughly examine the body of a transwoman who was murdered by a Chinese visitor – with some organs reportedly missing – while her relatives and peers in Pattaya were concerned about negative comments about the victim.
  4. When I do the train, I always get off at Phaya Thai bc I typically stay at Hyatt Regency or on Soi 4 or 6 so the BTS switch suits me better. As others may have advised to get to Asok proper, you can do Makkasan but then you have to switch to the MRT but that takes credit cards at the turnstiles (whereas the BTS does not), so I always buy a prepaid BTS card from Klook which you can pick up at the Klook counter at Sboom, and then get the Airport Express token in the basement. eta: I would not do Grab from airport as last two trips I saw the wait there was incredible. Much easier to get a taxi just tell them to put on the meter, me I typically just agree to 400 baht as I really dont give a shit about an extra five to ten bucks if I am arriving late.
  5. I toured Hyatt Place last trip. Seemed a value winner overall albeit basic rooms can be tight and the pool area is painfully small. Also not a huge fan of the entry situation but all minor details as the location is great. My new daytime hobby has been scouting/touring hotel rooms in various locations. Kills dead time and provides excellent intel on future stays that Internet searches just cant.
  6. Am taking Radisson Blu Plaza off my rotation list. Seems the Junior Suite prices have ballooned and frankly not worth it if any more than $150 a night wo lounge bennies or 170-180 with. North of 200 a night it’s a complete rip off. The lounge there outright sucks and the breakfasts are nothing special. Also found water insects (i.e Thai roaches) in the bath area every day and neither tv worked literally at all for the entire recent three day stay. called them up to fix and they said they couldnt. Hard pass. Shame bc pool nice and has great other facilities and sans insects the baths in the Junior Suites are great. But time to move on.
  7. Another option I highly recommend for value conscious among us is Lohas Suites down Soi 4. Easy access to both the delights of Soi 4 and to Benjakitti Park, as well as the skyway to Lumpini Park. They also provide free bikes. Popular with the Japs and has a decent pool, full sun plus a roof park and jacuzzi/sauna. They have huge 1 Br suites available with balconies and washer/dryer and the nightly prices are super attractive. It also abuts both Soi 4 and Soi 2 (main entrance).
  8. https://nypost.com/2025/04/12/lifestyle/tourist-couple-caught-having-sex-in-the-middle-of-the-street-in-thailand/ A Chinese couple has been arrested after having intercourse in the middle of a Thai street. Oh Zhihang, 67, and his partner Lin Tingting, 35, set up a tripod before stripping and recording themselves doing the deed on the pavement in Pattaya, Thailand on Wednesday.
  9. Yes. Can bring alcohol in. And the nicer rooms have w/d which is a bonus. Hyatt Regency rooms, even suites, do not.
  10. Grand Centre Point is a dry hotel meaning no bars on site. Hyatt Regency ten times better. King Deluxe or Regency Suite.
  11. true. soi 8 is nice. soi 6 kinda feels like walking through the backrooms.
  12. Pattaya but still…. https://thethaiger.com/news/pattaya/pattaya-brawl-chinese-tourists-and-taxi-riders-clash-over-urination
  13. for those wanting sun, the pool isnt great and no rooftop bar. why I opt for Citrus Suites on 6. Otherwise, a great hotel I suppose.
  14. am hearing the backlash on the ground against China and their shoddy construction is heading toward a fever pitch. even caught Chi Coms trying to steal docs from the failed construx site. Nothing a little grease from the Chi Coms the Thai gubmint wont fix.
  15. sick videos out there of MahaNakhon Tower swaying back and forth and of people at summit literally on their hands and knees. yikes.
