Kuku
All, It has been over four years since I have been to Bangkok due to Covid restrictions. Made a trip to Angeles City in April, this year. Now I am doing a BKK/AC trip in October. Have no idea how the taxis operate from Suvarnabhumi now. Last time I had to go down and take a computer ticket and get a taxi, if I remember correctly. Can someone give me some latest to do list since I arrive at midnight and want to get to the hotel on Soi 24 safely. Thanks in advance
richy65
I'ts still the same system. Follow the signs for public taxi and queue up for a ticket which will have the number of your taxi on it
Rocky Rockstar
And if needed insist on using the taxi meter

texaslepracon
Getting a taxi from Suvarnabhumi should be quite straightforward. When you arrive, head to the designated taxi stand or queue, and the staff will assist you. No need to take a computer ticket; they'll guide you to the right taxi. Just make sure it's an official taxi with a meter, and you'll be on your way to Soi 24 safely.
Something
AoT is quite a bit more expensive but offers a car service. My experience with grab/bolt it like you can get from the airport to the Soi 4 area for about 500 Baht. However, the one nice thing about AoT, if you are willing to dish out the like 2100/2300 baht to the BMW to drive you, that particular model allows the rear passenger seats to recline. There's also no line, you exit the airport, someone will take your ticket and bags and escort you to your car. Coming from the US, the total travel time for me to get to Bangkok from leaving my home is like 30+hrs with layovers, and sitting in the Bangkok traffic sucks ass, being able to lean back and relieve some pressure off your back makes getting to the hotel all the much nicer. Is 2000 baht a lot more than the taxi? Definitely. But coming from the US i've paid $100 (closer to 3500 baht) to ride in a shitty Toyota to get from a hotel to a major airport (O'hare, JFK, etc.)
Griff71
Whats the approx cost of a metered taxi from the airport to soi 4?
Baco101
It is not easy to say because it depends on traffic, are you taking the toll way. I would say around 350 to 400 baht but what I said it depends on traffic. You also have to pay a 50 baht airport surcharge.

In the past they were not allowed. I’ve always just used the metered taxi service but it would be great if I could use the apps and save on using cash. JVHyatt
Forgo the taxi unless on a very tight time crunch (and only not during rush hour) and march down to lower level and take the Airport Link to Phaya Thai and then switch to Sukhumvit line. Kill two birds with one stone and pick up the rabbit card when switching over to phaya thai. Can also get off earlier at Makhasan and switch to MRT to Asoke but I like staying on the BTS. You’ll have your passport with you having come from the airport and you’ll need it to get the rabbit card (for BtS). Takes maybe 45 min and total cost maybe $5.00 but a nice little adventure to start the fun and the BTS is jam packed with hot thai girls.

I haven't noticed any changes in the taxi system since my first trip through swampy when it was new, except maybe a machine giving tickets instead of a person. 17 hours ago, JVHyatt said: Forgo the taxi unless on a very tight time crunch (and only not during rush hour) and march down to lower level and take the Airport Link to Phaya Thai Skytrain shuts down at midnight. And depending on how far down Soi 24 you are, I'm not sure you're going to want to be walking it with luggage. Traffic will be light'ish at midnight. It might even be light enough to save the few Baht on expressway tolls depending on day of the week.
