  1. the soi 11 clubs seem geared to westerners and bargirl types. Sing Sing and other clubs further down Sukhumvit into Ekkemai and Thong Lo have a more Thai bent, although not exclusively. Bobo is in the Hyatt Regency on S.13 ish but seems more a high end soi 11 club, Also check out RCA which is out of the Sukhumvit corridor but is more thai bent. And of course Khao San Road which you may enjoy if you’re younger but more the lower end so to say. You can google all of these these,
  2. imho, Soi 4 is not the place for women (unless you stay far down the soi toward the park) to stay but you do you. Citrus on 6 is good value and you can actually avoid Soi 4 to walk to Nana Station or Soi 11 (or Soi 8 if you want). Even Soi 2. But Soi 11 will have much more bars and restos that appeal to women so that prob a better bet. Also has a couple of dance clubs. Look also at hotels on Soi 15 and Soi 8. Moreover, there’s no real need to stay right in Sukhumvit heart imho unless utilizing the gogos imho — and I mean moreso than just looking. Anywhere along the BTS from Ploen Chit to Thong Lo is fine, just take cab back after midnight.
  3. cant speak to these but look at mercure soi 11. can also reco the citrus suites on soi 6 just off soi 4. Easy access to both NEP as well as Nana Station, and a smart hotel at a great price, especially the larger rooms.
  4. I really think that this whole “guest friendly” concept is a myth of yesteryear. Other than the Atlanta Hotel, is there a hotel in BKK (or anywhere in the world) that would not let you bring home some rando chick you met? If there is, I’ve not stayed in it, let alone in BKK.
  5. is it a fully non smoking hotel or does it have smoking “floors”. issue with some asian brands is they dont seem to understand or care that smoking rooms seep into the ac system.
  6. US passport bros need no visa for < 30x stay in tland. Monger 101.
  7. any riskier than street food bro? I dont think so.
  8. solaria - jap branded hotel is attached to asok bts. also somerset maison, 10 min walk maybe but easy access to cowboy and they have a hotel tuk tuk. radisson blu also close. also the centre point above T21, but geared to asians so allows smoking. not entirely sure what you mean really by “asok area” like how far from station but phrom pong has better selection imho, two hiltons, also soi 15 has four points sheraton, good value, right off sukhumvit and hooters basically in lobby, pretty equidistant to both asok and nana area fun. further up soi 15 are some other hotel options.
  9. maybe they’re extending their “kid’s club” outdoors. wtf and how high is the fence, I’ll climb the fucker.
  10. perfect. have booked a terrace suite at the doubletree. looking forward to a terrace party….
  11. by the way, os this the hotel that took over rajah alley? https://maisonhotelbangkok.com/facility/ I especially like the “kids club” here. What kind of an idiot would stay on Soi 4 with their kids?
  12. used to cab it in, now do the FX exchange and rail link from airport and ogle hot thai chicks on the BTS. Check into hotel, possibly power nap, depending on arrival time and how much sleep I got on plane, or if I had a long layover at HKG or SIN. Go to 7-11 and pharmacy for Sidegra, toiletry needs. Shower, shit and shave as needed. Depending on time of day, either go to gogo, bar or T 21 or Central Embassy for food. Possibly take in a Soi 33 or 24 venue then to gogos.
  13. yeah but that cut through made it so much easier. Can always walk through the Marriott.
  14. thanks for this. had the doubletree booked for march. may look elsewhere.
  15. Traffic on Soi 4 isnt that crazy other than later into night, esp if you stay further down like on Soi 6 alley (Citrus). Traffic on Sukhumvit is crazy. And frankly, early evenings arent bad on 4 and when you stay there, easier to get a plum observation bar seat. Because of the traffic flow and uturns being illegal, getting up to, say, T21 from deep down soi 4/soi 6 alley can be a chore. Took me almost half an hour by car once due to the traffic flow. literally had to drive up and through a hospital in order to get in right direction on sukhumvit. And again, candidly, there is no escape from the chaos at night once you hit sukhumvit or the red light areas. daytime, the chais is at the malls and major BTS stops, not soi 4, which is actually pleasant during the day.
  16. Doubletree on 26 is cheaper than the Hilton, but Hilton is a top notch value, as against some of the other big boxes along Sukhumvit from Asok to Ploen Chit. And personally, I have never nor will I ever feel any compunction whatsoever about bringing girls back, sometimes two or three at a time, to BKK hotels.
  17. if you think 4 will be too overwhelming, then so will most of sukhumvit, soi 11, soi 7, soi 24, soi 33, et al. maybe bangkok itself.
  18. I’ve stayed here in the large 1 BR suite and it’s an exceptional value (pre covid), also close to the delights on Soi 26 and Soi 33. One thing I did not like is I had to greet guests in the lobby. Short walk to Promh Pong BTS though also, I dont remember a shortcut to 26 but it’s very close to Sukhumvit so not that bad of a walk, but one thing to note is they have pool parties either every Saturday or once a month so factor that in if staying on a Saturday. I remember it being perfectly fine, but not great for access to NP or even Cowboy which is closer.
  19. For that Baht range, Citrus Suites Sukhumvit 6 has the nicest rooms near Soi 4. Period. Not a great lobby but decent breakfast spread, downstairs and rooftop bar, with small pool on roof.
  20. follow up I got to the thair airways desk early and they changed to a window, same row, so middle seat was empty. not too bad.
  21. well only 6 seats left in all of economy on this bird. A Thair Airways 3-3-3 booked late. fml.
  22. So I quit my job (have a new one) but drunk booked BKK tix. Business class first leg, cuz wtf not but second leg has me middle seat economy on a 10 hr flight. besides dreaming of thai poontang any advice to not lose my shit?
  23. I have never stayed at a remotely decent hotel anywhere in the world where I was in any way questioned for coming back with some random girl I met. Where are these mythical “non guest friendly” hotels anyway. on pluto?
  24. will be there myself “soon”. an appetizer before longer stay at the Hyatt Regency.
