We had a white & black truffle pizza at Giustos on 23 during a truffle-fest they had. Maybe the best pizza of my life. Place ain't cheap, but if there's better Italian in BKK, I haven't had it. Book ahead. The e-mail the manager trick is probably the best. Most Thai hotel employees will be afraid to bargain. They might 'lose face' with the owner or GM if they go too low. Try 'Latestays' or WOTIF if you wanna check last minute rates. wj

The Omni is going for 30 something lately. I haven't stayed there in 2 or 3 years,and they upgraded me to a massive 1 brm suite then. The location is prime, the rooms are huge, and the pool is really big. It's still getting good reviews. It's so cheap that I'm thinking of giving it a go again. Anybody been there more recently ?
