  1. Yes virtually all airlines give out vouchers like the one in the photo above to business and first class passengers. make sure that if they do not hand them out on the plane that you ask. Sometimes they forget to load them, but they should be able to call ahead and get someone to meet the plane and hand them out. Note that Thai have a separate system for their First and Business passengers, they do not give out vouchers. They have their own separate Fast Track desks and you have to show your boarding pass
  2. Yes this is the voucher that the airlines give out as well. Only it would have the airline stamp instead of AOT guest. In my experience the immigration people who collect them pay no attention to them so as long as you hand one in then they do not look to see whether the flight details match up with your boarding pass.
  3. a) You need to ensure that they do put on the meter and it should not be more than about B250 plus B70 for the tolls B) Technically I think you could get a Tuk Tuk there but it could not take the expressway, would cost as much as a taxi and be bloody uncomfortable. So there really is no point compared to taking a taxi c) There is a bus to DM but I do not know the details - It would be the cheapest option. d) There is no Skytrain to DM Personally when for about 10 bucks you can get an air-conditioned taxi door to door I do not see the point in taking a bus or anything else.
  4. The main advantage is that if you take the airport train and BTS the time will be fairly fixed the only variable is how long you have to wait for a train but you should be in your hotel in about an hour. If you take a taxi and arrive when the traffic is quiet you will be in your hotel in about 30 minutes but if you arrive when the traffic is very bad it will be nearer 90 minutes. I normally arrive in bangkok at about 8pm on a Friday and it very rarely takes me more than 1 hour to get to Sukhumvit Road area.. The train will probably save you about BHT100 or BHT150 compared to a taxi. But the real downside of the train is lugging your luggage about. The BTS is not designed for people with big suitcases and a 5 minute walk down hot humid and crowded bangkok streets is not nice experience
  5. No idea where you heard this but it is total rubbish, There are loads of British style pubs in Bangkok and all still very much open
  6. I've stayed at the Sheraton Grande many times and it is definitely girl friendly.
  7. I have never seen a snake in Bangkok but I'm sure they will be there, you see the number of rats and you know the snakes will not be far away.
  8. If you land at 12.30am then by the time you have cleared immigration, got your luggage and got into town etc you will be arriving at your hotel just when Nana Plaza is shutting for the night. Therefore you best option for some action will be to pick up a FL in one of the discos. if you stay at Nana Hotel then you do have Nana Liquid right on your doorstep. So it is probably as good as anywhere for a first timer as there is no chance of getting lost.
  9. If you are staying in the Sukhumvit area barSu at the Sheraton Grande does good cocktails but again not cheap. Most nights they have a live band playing. Plus several FLers hanging around (although again not cheap)
  10. You just have to get over it, The hotel staff are all used to it and lets face facts these top hotels like the Hyatt and Sheraton are actively encouraging the girls in their nightclubs. The other guests who cares what they think. The reality is that most of the men will be jealous and the crap attitude of western women is one of the reasons we are here. I was at the Sheraton the other week and some guy was having breakfast with his ladyboy companion from the previous night with her still in her evening wear. Beyond my comfort level definitely but good luck to him.
  11. The Hyatt is an excellent hotel, not as convenient as the SGS but still by no means inconvenient. Going to nana or SC definitely take the BTS (only two stops to Nana three to SC) and the hotel is connected by a walkway to the BTS station. Coming back the traffic should not be so bad so a taxi is probably the easiest then
  12. Especially important if you are connecting to a domestic flight as there are no smoking rooms in the domestic area of the airport.
  13. Yes hotles will take walk ins and at this time of year most are likely not to be full. Personally the last think I want to do on holiday is walk around trying to find a hotel. Bangkok is one of the best cities in the world for reasonably priced hotels. Look for recommendations in your proce range and you really are very unlikely to go wrong.
  14. I am at the SGS now. The bars and restaurants are working reduced hours. the place is very empty. I spoke to someone the ot her day who claimed he walked and negotiated a rate of BHT2000 per night. Could be total BS but seeing how empty they are could be true. For all customers they are offering their delux benefits package (free breakfast, internet, evening cocktails etc) for free.
  15. For anyone who thinks he might have picked up an STD and wants an easy way to confirm then I would recommend the Soi 11 Clinic I went there last week to get checked up. You get an initial consultation then a blood test for 5 types of disease including HIV plus a urine test for infections like Gonorrhea Total cost BHT 3350. The result of the urine tests you get immediately, the results for the blood test you get the next day after 6pm. If you can not get back to the clinic you can call for them or they will email them to you. It looks a bit dingy from the outside but inside it all looked clean and professionally run. the nurse who took my blood was cute, wore gloves cleaned the injection site with disinfectant and took a new needle out of the package in front of me. If you want confidentiality they do not ask for ID but do ask for your name and what hotel you are staying at, but they have no way of knowing you make it up. If you really think you might have HIV then I would recommend going to Bumrumgrad or the red cross clinic as these places will give appropriate councilling.
  16. The SGS is definitely GF I have taken many a girl back there and no one gives us a look.
  17. $250 a night will get you a very nice hotel in Bangkok. I would recommend the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. It is very close to Soi Cowboy and only a 15 minute walk (or one stop on the BTS) from Nana. I stay there quite often when I'm in BKK the staff are very friendly the rooms are a good size. Currently they have rooms at the weekend at a rate of $145 a night. But that is room only. They also offer a delux package that includes free drinks between 6pm and 8pm at any of the bars in the hotel, internet access (wireless and wired) and breakfast.
  18. This is the high season so hotels are busy although most are by no means full. Personally I would book in advance, you do not want to waste time looking around for a room when you could be out looking for fun.
  19. Here is review of the Conrad Hotel on Wireless road following my recent stay there. The Hotel is part of the All Seasons Place development and is attached to the All Season Mall. The hotel is not visible from the road and there is a only a small sign pointing where it is so if your taxi driver is not familiar with it then they can easily miss the entrance. Check in is very efficient and they escort you to your room to show you around. I had a delux corner room which was very nice but a bit of an odd shape. The bathroom was huge and has a nice window by the bathtub so you can look out over Bangkok whilst you have soak. The bathroom comes stock with lots of big white fluffy towels and very nice amenities. The bed is huge and very comfortable. There is a walk in wardrobe which also has a large in room safe. The TV is a large flat screen one with a good range of TV stations. There is also a speaker system for your I-pod. On the 7th floor is the pool area which is very nice with top level service. However at this time of year the water was a bit chilly. The location is not great but is is only about a 10-15 minute walk to the BTS, they do have a shuttle bus which goes about every 15 minutes but it too drops you about a 5 minute walk from the BTS station. On the 29th floor they have an executive lounge which serves afternoon tea, evening cocktails and breakfast. The lounge also has great views over the city. As to the main question yes it is GF. Two was the most I brought back at any one time but there was no issues what so ever. If you have a girl meeting you at the hotel the concierge will call up and make sure you are expecting her and then they will send her up (you need a room key to activate the lift). The hotel has a nighclub 87 Plus which whenever I went there was totally dead but there were always some fairly hot FLs in there. However they were asking for 5000Bht ST but I went in late one evening when the prospects of them having to head off to Nana carpark was looming large in their minds and then they became much more realistic in their asking price. Over all it is a very nice hotel and if you come from USA or Europe the quality for the price is outstanding. However overall if I am looking for a hotel in the BHT5000 a night range then I think the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has it beaten, better location, better rooms and a better night club (BarSu) to pick up FLs
