  1. I took a taxi from Sofitel Sukhumvit to the BKK today. The driver took a new route. He made a left turn at the Asoke intersection. Then driving on the street for about 15 minutes. Reached the toll and the driver only paid 30thb. Arrived at the Airport in about 45 minutes. Total included toll is 255 THB.
  2. It was about a little more than a year ago (about the beginning of shutdown Bangkok) Emirates arrived at almost midnight. I remember the taxi driver drove part of the trip under the highway. When we almost reached the city. He drove to some side street. No toll and No traffic! I arrived in JW Marriott in little more than half hour. I don't remember it was the same trip or the trip after. When I was going to the airport, the bell boy forgot to tell the driver to use the highway. So, the "honest" driver just used the local streets. It took almost an hour to reach the airport (a lot of traffic). The cost was just a little more than 200 THB!
  3. Yes, I have arrived late at night by Emirates. The taxi driver didn't use highway and also no traffic.
  4. Try the Opera Suite in Sofitel Sukhumvit. It is about 600USD a night. If you are Accor Gold or Platinum member, they will upgarde you to the the Imperial Suite (1300USD a night). They have a bath tub out in the balcony. Please see the pictures below. I saw guest bring in two guests without any problem. For multple guests (more than two), you better check with the hotel.
  5. After you get the number, you have to look for the taxi and talk to the driver on your own
  6. I just arrived Bangkok. Here is how the new taxi line up system looks like. A person only help you to press a button to get a number.
  7. LOL too here. Thank you for saying that Google cc market will get result for JJ!
  8. If you google or Wikipedia it, you only see the market is called Chatuchak or Jatujak ( people call it JJ because of this spelling). You don't see it called CC there. You could argue if you could call it JJ why not call it CC. I really have nothing to say. If you heard it from a few people in BTS and some newbie post in some unknown forum and said it has another name, I got nothing to say anymore.
  9. I got this shirt In JJ for about 200 THB, according to what you said, it should be 70 to 100 in Pratunam , right? It is a unbelievable price! WOW! You really know where to get the best deal!????
  10. I was talking about those "interesting" T-shirts. Do you have a "Good Guy........Pattaya" or "addidogs" T-shirt? Did you buy it from across the Pratunam Market and how much you paid? I really don't think you could only paid a "fraction" because they are very cheap in JJ market or Patpong.
  11. I have never heard tourist call it CC market neither. Tourist call it JJ market and Thai call it Chatuchak.
  12. I am not so sure your definition of "interesting" T-shirts. If you are looking for the T-shirts like "GOOD GUYS GO TO HEAVEN, BAD GUYS GO TO PATTAYA" or "addidogs", JJ market is the place. I am not so sure why you need alternatives except you only come to Bangkok for a few days and not during the weekends. If so, you could still find those T-shirts in Patpong night market and Sukhumvit road (the hawkers between soi 11 to nana). Just buy a few before you go to the gogo bars. I would not recommend you to go to Platinum Fashion Mall. They have more clothes for girls than guys. Even the clothes for guys, they are mainly the Thai/Japanese/Korean style fashion. If you are American, or Aussie wear T-shirts and cargo pants all the time, it is not the place for you. There is one shop sell a lots of Batman, Superman, and Spiderman T-shirts in Platinum. If you consider those are "interesting" T-shirts. About the knuckle dusters, you could also find them in Patpong and Sukhumvit. When you go home, you need to be careful. It is considered as a weapon in some countries (For example, Singapore and Hong Kong). Even you are just taking your connecting flight in those counties, if the local customs find your knuckle dusters, you will be in trouble.
  13. Interesting. I have never heard people call JJ market/Chatuchak as cc market until now. You couldn't even find cc market in google or wikipedia. I will be in Thailand in 10 days. Let me see if I call it cc market, people will understand me or not.
  14. I have been coming to Thailand for 16 years. I have never been asked for fingerprints! The most recent trip was October. You guys just kidding, right?
  15. Not so sure you guys know about the new taxi system in Bangkok Airport. Before, you went to the booths and the staffs wrote down the taxi driver's licence number on a form and told the driver where you were going. Now, all of the booths are gone. You line up, press a button to get a number and go the find the taxi. Not so sure how it works. I will go to Bangkok early next month. I will have a look at that new system. By the way, I found out that from the Pattaya forum.
  16. I have stayed in Majestic Grande and President Palace before but not in Phachara Suites. It seems the rooms in Majestic Grande are better than President Palace. Also, the rooms in Majestic Grande have been renovated. So, I think Majestic should be a better choice. It is only a few minutes walk to Nana. President Places is about 15 minutes walk.
  17. I like the suite in Sofitel Sukhumvit. It is one of the best in this area.
  18. Sofitel Sukhumvit is upscale enough. The location is great. Five minutes walk to Cowboy. Less than ten to Nana. Thermae is located right next to it.. So, even you couldn't find any girls in the gogo bars, you could still get a FL. I have stayed there a few times and I loved it (the girls I took loved it too). I am going back to Bangkok in two weeks and I am going to stay there again.
