  1. I just want to make a quick update about my comment about FLs on post # 20. It seems Hooter just have a new promotion "lady's night". After 10pm, groups of 5 ladies will get a free bottle of ABSOLUT Vodka. So, now Hooters may become another FL place at night. I will check it out in about 3 weeks when I come back to Bangkok.
  2. Yes, by taxi. Even in the evening, my colleagues and I didn't plan to take the MRT then walk or looking for a taxi/tuk tuk in a 30+ C degree temperature. The cost of a taxi ride from Sukhumvit to Yaowarat would be about the same as 3 people take the MRT and then taxi/tuk tuk. You just waste the time on the road.
  3. I have been in Yaowarat a couple times. Just went with my colleagues to have the shark fin and swallow's nest soup years ago. Not joining the food tour. Now, most of us would not eat the shark fin soup anymore. FYI, the traffic from/to Sukhumvit and Yaowarat is really bad. I think it is about 20 km one way but that will take you an hour or 1 1/2 hour in the evening. So, go there to have just dinner will take about 4 hours or more.
  4. Thank you for your input about the standard rooms of Sheraton and Sofitel. I haven't stayed in the standard rooms of the two hotels so I could not compare. I did stayed in different suites of the two hotels. That is why I ask that BM to spend a little more to stay in the suites. They are very good in Sofitel. Like what I said in the previous post, Sheraton was designed and built in the last century. The suites there are nice but without the wow factor. Sofitel is only 3 years old. I really like their Opera Suite and Imperial suite. Specially the balcony in the Imperial suite. Please see below picture. It has a 6 ft by 8 ft outdoor Jacuzzi (at the right corner) and 180 degree Bangkok view you don't find in many hotels! Go back to Hooters. Yes, logically, put it in Soi 11 maybe a better fit. But another sport bar, Manchester United in President Palace in Soi 11 failed in just a few years. I went to Hooters in October and November. Both of the times, they have more customers than anytime I was in MU sport bar. Also, almost all of the BMs here including me said Hooters' food is average or below average. If you take a look at all of the threads in the restaurant section in this forum, this thread has the most replies and views than all of the other threads in the last 8 or 9 months! Hooters seems doing very successful at Four Points.
  5. Even at 4:30pm, meter taxi from BKK to Sukhumvit Soi 11 is about 400 THB including toll and the 50 THB charge. They double charged you 5 times! Also, that JJ taxi is just another private/illegal taxi. Good luck if you get into an accident. I highly recommend you don't use them anymore.
  6. Too bad, you only stayed in ROOMS in Sofitel. If you don't mind to spend a little more, stay in the suites in the Club Millesime floor. See the post here: http://www.bangkok-addicts.com/forum/topic/4928-500-dollar-a-night-guest-friendly-hotel-recommendation/ And here: http://www.bangkok-addicts.com/forum/topic/4688-hotel-rooms-with-a-nice-chair/ Four points could not compare with Sofitel at all. If you compare Sofitel with Sheraton, they are in the same league. I stayed in Sheraton before Sofitel open. Sheraton is an old hotel at least 15 or even 20 years old. Sofitel is only 3 years old. I like to stay in newer hotels. Go back to Hooters. If you have talked to the staffs in the hotel, they still could not give you the answer??? You still guessing it is Sheraton's decision, local operator's decision, or building owner's decision??? No matter whose decision, Hooters is going to stay there! Just deal with it. If it bother you too much, stay some place else. Nothing you could do about it! I still don't think it is odd, if you take out the "Hooter" name, it is just another sport bar. Even people come to have meeting/conference in a 4 star hotel. They would be happy to have a drink and watch some sport during happy hours. I have stayed in different hotels in this area for 10+ years. Four points did not earn a penny from me until Hooters open. About freelancers, it is just totally bullshit! Sukhumvit road on this side from Soi 3 all the way to Cowboy is fill with FL from late afternoon till early morning. FL would rather to take a two minutes walk to Thermae or stay on Sukhumvit road to look for customers. FL go to Hooters, they at least need to buy a drink and it is not cheap for a FL.
  7. Sorry, I don't stay in 4 star hotel like Four Points. I usually stay in Sofitel. Like I said in the post early. YOU HAVE BETTER EXPERTISE than the management of Sheraton and Hooters!
  8. Draft beer! 4 star hotel sell draft beers! No wonder they got rid of that. Good decision Four points!
  9. After a 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Hooters look great from the street.
  10. I just stayed in Sofitel Sukhumvit. After good food for a whole day in the lounge. I decided to have some lousy American food. So what! I looked down from my hotel. The Hooters sign look sharp!
  11. I guess you have better expertise than the management in Sheraton and Hooters.
  12. Four Points is just a 4 star hotel. It is not a "real" Sheraton. I don't see anything wrong to put a hooters there. Put Hooters across to the other side of Sukhumvit at Sheraton, I will feel it is a little strange. Just like Manchester United put their sport bar in President Palace (4 star hotel). But I believed MU bar is closed.
  13. I would not call Hooters "very expensive" but may call it "not a good value". Cost may be a little more than double of what you pay at KFC or Mcdonald's (depends of the city). A little more than Buffalo Wide Wing but Buffalo taste better. Quality of food is not good like I said in my previous post.
  14. I have been in numbers of Hooters in different cites (San Francisco Bay Area, Toronto, Shanghai, Manila...etc). So far, I haven't had one good meal there. I think the wings in KFC is better than theirs! I will come back to Bangkok next month. Although I know I won't have a good meal there but I will still go there to have a look at the girls! 555!
  15. Bangkok Sofitel Sukhumvit.1 minute walk to Thermae. 5 minutes walk to Climax. About 10 minutes to 15 minutes walk to Nana (depends on how fast you walk). Very nice 5 star hotel and no joiner fee.
  16. I have stayed in Sofitel Sukhumvit numbers of time. It is a nice hotel. I like Sofitel more than Landmark. I usually check out no later than 2pm. If your flight is around midnight, you may want to ask to use their bathroom by the pool area to take a shower before you go to the airport.
  17. "Don't know, never been but since there seem to be many businesses that do it, more than a few people do." To OP. You must mix up with the other Thailand destinations like Pattaya or Phuket where public transportation is limited. In Bangkok, normally, no tourists come here for 4 days to rent a motorcycle/scooter except you volunteer to become a "human vacuum cleaner" to clear out the smog and dust on the streets!
  18. In Bangkok, BTS, MTR, bus, taxi, motorbike taxi, tuk tuk and your feet could take you to almost anywhere in the city. Why would someone want to rent a motorcycle/scooter for a 4 days trip in that crazy Bangkok traffic?
  19. Sofitel Sukhumvit, if you are going to stay in the Club Millesime (subject to prior reservation and availability). Late check out until 4pm.
  20. Sofitel Sukhumvit, if you can walk really fast. It is 5 minutes walk to Soi Cowboy.
  21. No, BTS and MRT are two different company. A BTS day pass cost 130 THB when I was in Bangkok two months ago. I heard you could buy something called "rabbie card" which could use in both MRT and BTS but I have never brought one before.
  22. "didn't notice the notice I did notice" hahaha!!! What are you trying to say? You drink too much man!!!
  23. I think in a country which you could almost buy everything fake, a fake ID is not hard to get. Like my post earlier, check the girl's ID yourself. If the girl looks too young, skip her and find another one. I usually take girls who are 20+ years old back to my hotel. I don't like the hotel hold the girl's ID and call me when they left. That is why I like to stay in JW Marriott and Sofitel Sukhumvit. So far, I didn't have any problem with the girl's.
  24. Most of the YOUNG girls in GOGO claimed they are 20 years old but I doubt that. They could be underage. If you want to take them back to your hotel, make sure you check their ID. Recently, the BIB keep showing up in Nana to check the girls' ID. So, I haven't seen real young girls in Nana lately. JW Marriott and Sofitel do not hold the girls ID. So, if you want to bring young girls back, you may want to stay there.
