Citadines Soi 11

Recommended Posts

I stayed at the Citadines on Soi 11 twice on my last trip. First stay was just two days, then moved to Dynasty for a better location and wished I hadn't. Then off to Pattaya for a time and decided to cold-book into Citadines for 8 days on the return visit.

This is a beautiful and clean new place to stay... less than a year old, but it has its ups and downs. I booked my first stay through Agoda and it was only $45 a night (1440 baht). I found out the first morning that this does not include breakfast and the dining room is devoted ONLY to the free breakfast that accompanies full price bookings. It irked me a little that they wouldn't even let me in to BUY a cup of coffee, but there are plenty of places ready to take your money within a few steps of the front door. Upon my return, of course I paid full price (It was substantially more, but I don't remember exactly how much) and found out the breakfast they offered was pretty much the same each day and not really worth a mention. Book Agoda if you're going there.

Good security, although since it's basically apartments they're renting out as a hotel room, they don't "require" your guest to show ID if you accompany them. They do check the guest through if you ask, however. I spent most of my time with a single guest and she was allowed to come and go with no problems. Part of the reason they don't worry is that the elevators require a room card to go up. That pretty much assures that you will accompany them. Coming down is not restricted, so she can leave on her own... not good if you skipped the sign in and got a mickey.

The rooms are very nice. They have a small kitchenette equipped with more than I needed, including microwave, cook top, toaster, coffee kettle (not a coffeemaker but who can find real coffee anyway?). There is an iron and ironing board, room safe, nice shower and dressing area, couch, desk, queen bed (which was hard and lumpy to me, but I'm a softy).

Staff was not only helpful and friendly, I felt like a couple of them were my friend by the time I left, including the cleaning girl! I found that I could let her know when I left and knew the room would be clean when I returned.

Up on the top of the building is a small but nice swimming pool, coin operated laundry and a magnificent workout room. We used it for viewing the King's birthday fireworks.

Some of the taxi drivers didn't know where the place was, but it was easy to find on Soi 11. It is right across the street from good eateries like the Australian, quick walk to the Bier Garden and other regularly visited venues. Always mafia taxis out front and plenty more unaffiliated ones across the street.

I highly recommend this place if you're staying less than a month... but I didn't check monthly rates and they may even be competitive for longer periods. Next time I'll buy a bed topper though, I was uncomfortable in the hard but very modern bed.

Oh and they have a wide screen tv with 40 channels, in room LAN and WiFi on the patio. They also have room service if you want it.

Thanks for that, I've booked up through Booking.com, can't remember how much but it's always good to hear comments.

Spent a bit of time in the Australian bar when I was over in November, back in February and can't wait.

I'll be around a few days in Feb as well, so I hope to get to meet you. I'm sure I'll stay at Citadynes when in Bangkok ... I'm staying in Pattaya most of this trip, at Club Blu. Here's me... you'll know me when you see me.

Hi Irishfella, i stopped for one night before i flew out of bkk in november 09 at Citadines soi 8 as the one on soi 11 was fully booked. Not stayed at the one on soi 11 but had it recommened by a good friend.

The soi 8 one was very comfortable and very clean, would highly recommend. The staff were friendly they also offered a free tuk tuk to run you up the street to the BTS station.

I booked through LateStays, if your booking for anytime within the next 2 weeks its one of he best sites for last minute hotels in asia.

I also enjoyed my stay there about 6 months ago. Got a good rate that included breakfast through wotif.com, spent a couple of days solo then my wife joined. It passed her test so that is high praise indeed. Cheers,

I stayed in Citadines Soi 11 back in February 2010 for 5 days. I stayed in the 1 bedroom suite and found it quite comfortable for 1 but tight for 2. Price is right and the accommodations are modern and clean. The in room wireless internet had a strong signal so no problem with surfing the net. If you're on a budget I would recommend Citadines Soi 11 for your stay.
