Zizou Z
I just wanted to get your opinions and past experiences with respects to touring the Chao Phraya River. I am staying in a hotel near Asoke Station. From my own research I figured out to take the BTS Skytrain to Phloen Chit and then change to the Silom Line. From there you go all the way to Saphan Taksin. Upon departure at Saphan Taksin you have to make your way to the Central Pier. My only questions are: 1) Where do I buy tickets to board the Chao Phraya Express Boat?

You buy from the ticketseller on the boat Just tell her where you wanna go and pay the fare she asks. Works the same way as the city buses. Dieter
I bought a one day ticket for around 150thb if I remember correctly. I was then able to hop on and off all day. Great value for money. Dieter
buckethead
I paid 28 baht and had the option of traveling a long way. This is not the tourist boat and the boat makes frequent stops.
wackyjacky
If you are going next week, just get on an inner-tube outside your hotel on Asoke and the flow should take down the Saen Saeb Canal all the way to the Wats and the River. wj

Zizou Z
Does anyone have any info whether the Central Pier near Saphan Taksin is flooded? Ideally I would like to catch the boat from there to the Chang Pier, which I also heard is somewhat flooded. My plan is to get from the Central Pier to the Grand Palace via the Chao Phraya River. Should I depart at the Chang Pier? Or another location?

I would have been totally lost without your help. I just checked out the BTS Map and noticed my mistake. I recently found out the Chao Phraya Express reopens on November 20. Would the fastest way to get to the Grand Palace be to depart at the Chang Pier? Is the Change Pier area flooded? Thanks again for helping a clueless tourist. Frosty
Just got back from the Chaya Prat. There are boats still going across the river. Tour boats and excursions are still going up and down the river. The express boat service is stopped (for some reason). While many piers are flooded, they have put up planks to get to the boat launches.
