Dive bars?

Does Bangkok have a dive bar culture, sometimes I just want to get lost in a drink in a dirty quiet place

Yeah, I would second this.

 

Some if the smaller bars dotted around with closed fronts have a bit of a dive bar feel to them. Plus, you can play whatever music you want so they can be a good place to just sit and have some drinks.

There's an official dive bar over at Phra Ram 9 called Fattys.

Good place for food and live music.

Most if the little bars on Soi Cowboy feel like dive bars, they are getting run down. 

A few on Patpong too.

I had a Bratwurst there this week on St Paddy's Day, smothered in sauerkraut.
