  1. What makes you think you got something? If there aren't any symptoms, why self medicate? And even then why not go to a doctor anyway?
  2. Totally agree with this part. And I think it makes zero sense treating yourself for an STD you likely don't have, when you could just wait to see if you have it and then get the antibiotics, if you need them. The only way this makes sense is if you have a wife and kids at home and you want to make sure there's no catastrophic damage.
  3. Just noticed that you are in a nearby country, doxycycline is an anti-malarial and also effective at preventing bacterial STDs -- before you get them -- though I'd be far more concerned about the malaria!
  4. That said, I don't think messing with pharmaceuticals is wise, especially for things that can be cured if you get them. Why not just mellow out and go for a screening at around 6 weeks? Even the most basic blood tests are about 99% accurate then, so if you don't have any symptoms you could probably just forget about it then. And if you are really anxious about HIV, you can get a NAAT test at the Red Cross which is 99% after 10 days.
  5. Standard treatment of Syphilis (of less than one year) is: - a single dose of benzathine penicillin type G injection (you could just ask at the hospital); - or 14 days of doxycycline, twice daily (for those allergic to penicillin). Actually, 7 days of this would likely cure Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, though not ideal first-line treatment. It is used when the preferred treatments can't be used, due to allergy. If you wanted to prevent Syphilis infection (as well as other bacterial STD) before it occurs, you could just take one doxycycline a day, but it wouldn't cure an existing infection. This is actually the anti-malarial dose, but it would stop a bacterial infection, just as it would stop a malaria infection.
  6. Full body checks can be 4000, 6000, 8000, 10,000 (and so on), depending on which one you go for. They are usually categorised by age. I was looking at the one at Mission Hospital for 40 year olds. It's 10,000 and very comprehensive. Might do it this summer.
  7. Generally, clinics just test for HIV and Syphilis. 500 baht or so, all in. Best place is probably Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic (and NAAT research institute, so you get a free NAAT test). Other things would be diagnosed based on symptoms, like warts, or herpes. Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea urine tests are available, but I think they are expensive, and probably no point if you aren't experiencing symptoms associated with them. Clinics here don't routinely offer them, unlike STD clinics in my homecountry
  8. Most if the little bars on Soi Cowboy feel like dive bars, they are getting run down. A few on Patpong too.
  9. There's an official dive bar over at Phra Ram 9 called Fattys. Good place for food and live music.
  10. I have noticed the opposite. Feels like 90% of them are freelancers these days. It's quite an interesting phenomenon. Before smartphones, if a Thai woman wanted to be a hooker, she had to work in a bar, parlor, or stand on the street -- most Thai woman wouldn't want to be caught doing this (even though they may secretly like the idea of getting paid for sex). Now, with technology, the average woman can discreetly freelance. Many of them have respectable jobs, but they are living out their slutty dreams in reality through dating websites. At least this is one benefit of our dystopian world.
  11. The Sheraton on by the river has one of the best views in the city, IMHO. I got a room on the same side as you with that iconic view of the Chao Praya curving round. And I loved watching the comings and goings on the river. It was insanely relaxing for me. I can't remember the last view that had that effect on me Good breakfast too.
  12. This looks good. You can get it for about 10k at Mission Hospital
  13. I wonder what a full comprehensive package costs
  14. What are the benefits of getting more testosterone for males? Anyone tried it and noticed changes? Is it possible to overdose?
  15. I wonder if anyone has any ideas of which hotel this could happen at?
  16. I mean,it shouldn't even be a talking point. If girls get it, why don't boys?
  17. Very interesting. I might look into this, now that I have leveled up and started taking it up the ass from ladyboys. (Only joking) Nah, seriously, I never thought of getting it before. But who knows, it might just save me from some kind of dick cancer.
  18. You are pushing the boat out a bit to be honest. It's a virus that is so easily transmitted in humans it is considered a "normal" thing for everyone to have at some point in their lives. It's pretty much a part of being human and considered unavoidable by doctors. Condoms don't stop it. Nothing really does except avoiding human contact.
  19. The last few dozen, lol Please. I think I've nailed a thousand of them. Can only recall a few dozen shaven ones.
  20. And on this note, I was also in the Old Other Office and they were charging 130 a bottle. I seem to recall it being 120 before. At least they are only moving up 10 baht. Not as drastic as other things.
  21. I know I am getting off topic, but I was at Vinai's Bar on Patpong last night and they were saying that next month the bottles are going from 110 up to 120 cos of inflation. We were talking about all the different things that have increased in price (cooking oil, pork, etc etc) She was like, "Everything more expensive, but women is same price" I said, "Yeah, but women have always been expensive " She said, "No, not expensive. Just 2000 or 3000" My jaw hit the floor and I replied, "I rarely pay more than 1000" She couldn't believe it and asked me where I get those prices. I dunno. Am I out of touch or is she?
  22. Taxi driving is a good earner. I have had taxi driver friends tell me they clear 30,000 a month and that wasn't even in Bangkok. It was a big upcountry city. I think we vastly underestimate what locals earn in most cases. Standard Thai massage will earn about 20,000 a month (including tips of course). My EX is doing that now. She used to work in an American pub on Sukhumvit and even 10 years ago was making 15,000-20,000 including service charge and tips.
  23. I notice more and more drivers nowadays are reluctant to use the meter. And they are demanding higher fares when negotiating
  24. Well, compared to 10 years ago, now it only takes about 15 mins in the cab to hit 100 baht. Whereas, before it would take 45 mins or more.
