Most hotels near Nana cater for the single customerwho brings a friend back for the night just book for 2/a double room. If you already have 2 in the room it could be more of a problem getting a friend to join you without extra payment. 

Remember duty free does not mean profit free and airport outlets do have high overheads. Yes you can save a little but I do not think it is worth the effort of carrying it. You are only bring in allowed 1 bottle to Thailand and that could be wine or spirits

I always tip (100B first night then 50 or 20B on the next nights) the securty staff when I come back with a girl. This goes into his pocket so the bloke will watch out for you, this has been of use to me in the past. Come back one night with 2 girls and he is not going to want to lose his tip.

I have never had a problem with street food and I have eaten a lot of it over the years. Couple of tips make sure you see them cooking it and eat it straight off the charcoal, that is so hot nothing nasty survives. Do not eat the end of the day left overs that might have been in the sun for several hours.

Try the market next to On Nut BTS station. You will save more than the price of the ticket from Asoke in the price of the food and beer. It is normally packed with locals and I think a few freelancers are about

If the number of customers continue to decline the bars will have to change or close. If the rumours are true that the Arab is selling up a couple of his bar in Cowboy it shows how things are. I still feel the bars with the traditional approach like Shark in Cowboy and Mercury in Nana  have more customers in them.

I now using the internet dating sites more to find girls and it works well. I am sure some are bargirls taking a night off from where they work while others are obviously freelancers. You do get some are just looking to pick up some quick cash or want a free holiday for a few days plus a tip at the end. There are also normal girls but these take some time to get anywhere. Personally I feel bars/gogos need to go back to the well established business model that worked for them for years. They should stop trying to be something they are not. Most customers go to a bar/gogo with the hope of meeting a cute young girl to take off to bed  - the role of bar/gogo is the introduction agency. Few blokes go to drink, at inflated prices, and watch girlie shows as they can do this at home without spending money on a flight. The drinks and the shows are just to give the right atmosphere for the prime business or for the girls to advertise and promote their talents.

The bars/gogos need to go back to basics by getting rid of the coyotes that are either not barfineable or ask silly prices. Coyote girls need to understand if you are selling you pussy you are working as a whore even if you want silly money for it. If you want top dollar then you will need to be very very special - in my view most coyotes are no cuter than normal bargirls they just think they are and have the attitude to match! I understand the bars are doing this because they claim they cannot find enough girls to work as normal bargirls. However, they have missed the point of why the blokes go to the bars - it is not to look at eye candy it is to barfine girls.

The bars should stop the pressures to buy ladydrinks for many girls - it is a false ecomony. I know many blokes that a few years back would relax and have a few drinks with the girl before leaving the bar, now with all the pressures to buy drinks all the time once the deal is done they leave with the girl. So the bar ends up selling fewer drinks, has fewer people in it which is likely to mean other potential customers will look but not come in.

Finally the girls need to have the correct attitude and understand it is about selling a service that is much more than just opening their legs. More and more girls just want ST and have the aim collecting the money and  getting home or back to the bar as soon as possible. I can remember when you would never ask about ST or LT it was a given the girl would stay until morning. Getting her to leave was sometimes the problem as they were happy to spend time in an airconditioned room with a modern bathroom and shower with a soft bed to sleep in.

I few years back it was  boom time people had a lot of disposable income and were happy to spend. The cost of air travel was falling and tourism, including mongering, was booming in LOS. The bars/gogos were doing fantastically well and started to transform themselves into the chrome and neon palaces we have today and the girls were also starting to make serious money. I can still remember when most bars were small and rather run down looking but few of these now still exist, Sexy Nights in Nana or Fanny in Cowboy are still in the old style. Having invested so much into the bars the owners need to get a return and as customer number fell prices started to increase. Remember the normal rules of business still apply to bars and the capital outlay has to be recovered from the income. As the girls started to get more customers they could be more selective, started to ask for more money and of course their attitude and  level of service fell.

Near to On Nut. Come out of the BTS and walk back towards the city staying on the same side of the road as the train stops. On the corner of a small Soi you will see a dentist the Soi has several massage places and leads to the Big C supermarket. The small soi  is before you get the main road Thanon On Nut

I am guessing the cost of owning a large number of bars that get few customers is taking its toll  - pockets are only so deep. The down turn in trade for all bars will hit the 'bad ones' first and his bars did not have a good reputation. I still feel he has much bigger plans than just running bars.

Of course we do not know if the rumours are true or what any deal might be. If he still keeps hold of the freehold and rents the bar he still retains his ownership of the land should development happen. What ever we say about the bloke he is a business man who has made money in the past do must know what he is doing.

I have just turned up atthe station and brought the ticket on the day never had a problem. The train to Chaing Mai will take a long time and goes throught the night I believe so not much to see. If I were you fly. The tickets are dated so if you are coming back the following day you need to either buy single tickets or if your Thai is up to it explain to the ticket office. As far as I know a return ticket is twice the price of the single so no savings.

BKKSC has given a good list. However the food courts in all the shopping malls are very average in my view. So I would add eat Thai street food. The food in the MK chain is also not that great it is the same in all MK's so I would give it a miss. I know some Thai girls like to eat there but the street food or what you get from a small local restraurant is much better in my view.(and much cheaper)

If this escalates it will takes years for the country to change. Basically you will have about a million unskilled bargirls and families with no means to support themselves. Many working girls are supporting 5-6 people, so working at 7-11 won't cut it.

 

Not sure there are 1 millon bargirls in Thailand. The Thai population is about 68 million, 50% are male. So 1 millon bargirls would mean about 3% of the female population are working as whores. Take away those under 18 and over 40 and the percentage is even greater. As most Thai girls would not consider working in bar I think the 1 million figure is somewhat high.

I have never counted but a wet finger guess is in Cowboy there are about 2500 girls working similar number for Nana and Patpong still only gives about 8000 girls.

I think the easiest to control are the bars and gogos as they all have a license of some form.Freelancers are very difficult to control especially with the dating sites being very active. 

I expect to see rules introduced about girls standing outside gogos that limit the numbers and what they are wearing. In AC they have already put limits on the number of door girls. This would certainly take a lot of  girls off the streets especially in Cowboy where over the years the girls are wearing less and less.  I also think they will enforcing closing times, if tourists want to drink back at their hotel this will be still be allowed.

There might well be measures to move on the girls that stand on the streets but this will just move them to other places like the clubs and bars. There are countless places to get a beer in BKK and unless you have single gender places boys and girls will meet up. You are going to find it very hard to stop boy meets girl in a club/bar and they go for off a meal. The bloke is not going to say he is paying her and she is not going to admit she is being paid. Come the morning as a gentleman he might pay for her taxi home!

I have a feeling the LOS is in the process of rebranding its self as a family holiday venue not a naughty boys location and the new Government is doing its best to support this. hotels have discovered they can make more from selling rooms to families that to single blokes on but you are not going to get families coming if you have girls selling their services on the streets. Look at the new PM background he is very conservative and a traditionalist.

The Japs like to mix with there own and have their own culture for a blokes nights out that they do not like to share with others. They might also not like the idea that the girl they are with was getting it from a proper sized cock last night!

My mongering started in Patpong but I have not been there for about 3 years. I only went back cos I was with a mate who wanted to do all the BKK nightlife places and Patpong in infamous. We avoided the upstairs bars but I have to say I was I thought the place had improved. Downside is if you stay in Sukhumvit some of the girls are not keen to come back to your hotel.

I have stayed here several times and think it is a good place. Girl friendly. OK you are paying a little more but in my view it is worth it for the better environment. No noise problems and all the girls I have taken back there have said they have been impressed with the place. I prefer LT so the girls knows she is not having to walk home late at night but for ST she might not be so keen. 

It is about mid way between Nana and Cowboy and close to several clubs. I have never had a problem with girls thinking it is to far to go and most will walk if the weather is OK. Just watch out they do not start shopping in Sukhumvit market stalls.

I have used 2 dentists in BKK the first time from neccesity the second out of choice both were very good and compared to western prices very cheap. When I lost a filling fearing the worst I went to a Dentist near Soi 33 Sukhumvit I asked to look to look round first and I have to day I was impressed by how modern all the equipment was. The dentist was a stunning Thai girl who spoke perfect English and the receptionist/nurse was equally cute looking. You would have paid money just to be seen with her! She fixed my missing filling and suggested she replace a couple more and give my teeth a clean and the bill was just over 3000B (800B a filling and it was white). I went back again a year or so later jst for a clean but it had closed down there was a sign in the window that I did not understand.

A helpful Thai saw me looking and suggested another dentist. Went there and it was packed with locals ok not as modern but very clean and the male dentist  was very good. He did a full check up with a xray and after doing the clean pointed out that the  broken back tooth that was years old and has never given me any problems should really come out. He could see i was not sure but assure me from looking at the xray I was likely to have a problem soon. I agreed and before I realised the tooth was out  no pain and hardly any bleeding - this bloke was bloddy good. He showed me the broken tooth and i could see the roots were black and rotting. The cost was under 2000B I could not believe it.

Best check with his doctor the compatibility question with people coming from SE Asia. Given the high number of road deaths in Thailand there could be lot more potential younger donors but I am not sure about religious pressures.

I am not sure how compatible livers sourced from an Asian donor would be for a western recipient so might take a while to find a suitable match.  As far as I know Thai medical facilities are as comprehensive as you can find in other countries and tend to be lower cost however for a successful outcome transplant teams need experience and I am not sure how many people have transplants in Thailand.

Your mate needs to do a lot of homework before he decides what to do as treatment under Medicare in Oz is normally very good.

I think there are a lot of side stalls in this Soi  that could make it difficult for a taxi to drive down. Most drivers will try but if the road is blocked there is little the taxi driver can do.

The busiest nights are Friday and Saturday. On other nights are noticably fewer people about  but the popular bars can still have plenty of customers. At this time of the year the rain can be a big factor a wet Monday or Tuesday especially if the rain starts just after 7pm and you might well have the pick of the girls in most bars.

My first vist to BKK was in 1998 and something was being built then but I am not sure if it was the skytrain or an overhead road. The part of the skytrain that goes from On Nut east only opened a short time ago, it was build for a number of years before any trains were running on it.
