  1. I wish Eva were in Oneworld, i'd fly them LHR-BKK every time if they were.
  2. Taxi or AOT Limo unless i'm travelling with hand luggage only and have all the time in the world.
  3. If you walk back up towards Suk Road from the hotel there's a small beer bar called Corner@Asoke or something like that that's worth checking out. Cheap beer, good pool table, good people watching spot, decent crowd. No bar girls but fun serving staff. Nice relaxed spot for a drink in the afternoon.
  4. They have superb neon, can't find a pic of it at night (they're missing a trick not showing it) but you get the idea -
  5. Check out the Doubletree Hilton on Soi 26. I prefer it to the Hilton on Soi 24. Doubletree is more relaxed, I think the rooms are a bit nicer and more tourists/leisure crowd Vs more Business crowd at Soi 24. Doubletree a bit cheaper too.
  6. I've stayed here a few times. Great location and they have an on/off club in the basement and I heard they recently got busted for having an after hours club on the ground or second floor that i'd never even heard about. They used to have a club on the top floor but it's an Indian restaurant now. Pool area is nice as mentioned, I've always got early check for no cost and no probs with guests. Rooms a bit small imo and aircon can't quite handle the hottest days I found when there in May once. Shame the bar/restaurant Bangkok Betty shutdown, it was a quality venue. Usual rent increase nonsense.
  7. Did you stay there? I've never been but have recently read that it's super-ostentatious and has crazy roman-grecko-esque art and murals, or it did a few years ago. Is it still the same?
  8. It's guest friendly, try the Doubletree Hilton on the next Soi though, I find it more relaxed and more of a leisure clientele stay there.
  9. These guys have never let me down - http://taxiservicehuahin.com/
  10. Like this place a lot, don't think you can get better for the price in the lower Suk area. Never had any issues there.
  11. Stayed at Grand Swiss, didn't like it. Asked for non smoking exec room, got a smoking room that stank. Staff flat out denied there was any smell, moved me to a cheaper room, no view, no refund, at least it didn't stink i guess. Lifts painfully slow and sometimes didn't come at all. Food was bad. Rude reception staff, talking about/slagging a mate and i off in front of us in Thai.
  12. To add some info, I had a friend visit me here in BKK last week and before i left the UK last year I gave her two fast track cards, both stamped by BA (the BA flight arrives at about 09:30 nowadays and its never busy at immigration then so I rarely use them). She was flying EVA and they were accepted without question inbound and outbound. So you can def still use cards stamped by another airline to the one you're flying on.
  13. I got a thai friend a nose job at Yanhee in 2014. It was very well done, she was very happy with it. Smooth process all the way. 10,000B with Korean silicone, 15,000B with USA silicone.
  14. Forget KFC and McD's. Go to a food court in any big shopping mall. You can eat like a king for 100-200 Baht.
  15. Nah Piek was known for selling a very specific range of Rolex sport replica's mainly and some Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, and Patek Aquanaut/Nautilus as well. They are high quality but you have to know what you are talking about and what you want, e.g. model names and numbers. The guy who runs it doesn't like dealing with typical tourists or window shoppers/browsers. You ask for exactly what you want, he gives you a price (he won't bargain) and a day when he can have it by. Price is $300 + at least per watch. He might even deny he sells them for whatever reason and not deal with you. He may not even sell them any more, there was a death in the family I believe some time ago. Other places to get replica's - you could try all round MBK watch stalls/shops, you'll find something. Pratunam market same same. Quality probably low-medium. When most people say "high quality replica" or "AAA" or "Swiss quality" etc it's all bullshit tbh. You will not find real high quality on the streets or markets of Thailand. Nothing Mr Jack sells is real high quality to anyone who really knows about replica watches. Best advice is to forget buying rep watches from Bangkok as presents and order them online from trusted dealers if that's what you want to buy your friends. You'll get much better watches, better prices and delivered to your door, usually customs guaranteed.
  16. Check the times, Express to Phaya Thai is only once an hour now on the half hour. If you miss it by minutes it's not worth waiting nearly an hour for the next. Consider Taxi or City Line.
  17. Thanks for the Funarium link, just sent it to a friend who's going to take her nephew there now :)
  18. SO i stayed at the Dynasty Grande. Nice and no problems, nice pool but not really any sun after about midday-1pm.
  19. Cheers guys, will have a look into all of them.... Any other suggestions more than welcome too :)
  20. Looking for a hotel with a nice rooftop pool/sun deck, doesn't have to be a million stories/tall tower. But does have to be guest friendly with no joiner fee. Will pay upto 2000-3000 but happy to pay less. Doesn't have to be right in the middle of p4p land or even on the 'Suk as long as it's 5-10 min walk from a BTS. Any reccomendations folks? Cheers :)
