  1. I stayed at Woraburi about a month ago. It was good for $25us (890 baht) per night. It has a nice swimming pool. The rooms look cheap, with tacky decor. If you're taking a girl you want to impress I wouldn't suggest it. Many other choices right there on Soi 4... Dawin, Majestic Suites... On Soi 2, I've stayed at ICheck Inn and Sukhumvit Solo. Both are good, but Solo has a swimming pool and restaurant.
  2. How much did that set you back at Bumrungrad? I'm already registered there, so it's easy to get in.
  3. Got Azithromycin from a pharmacy around Asoke BTS. Biggest pharmacy I've found, though, is right off Soi nana, next to the Mcdonald's/7-11/gas station. Huge selection and open late.

    Siam Legal

Anyone use Siam Legal for 1-year multiple entry visa? They claim they take care of all paperwork for about 15,000THB + 6,000THB Embassy fee. I found some language schools that do ed visas but it's just as expensive. Seems this would be a more hassle-free way. Anyone have experience?
  5. I would get a visa in advance, as you are Indian and Thais are not particularly fond of you.
  6. Just go on Agoda and you can search Bangkok by district, ie Silom, etc.
  7. Just go for a feckin walk in BKK. You'll burn off any and all fat in no time.
  8. Yeah, I was told the same thing by 5 different pharmacies... and then found one on Soi 4 that sold me Lorazepam. It looks legit.
  9. Just stayed there last week. Was good. My window actually overlooked NEP. Kind of funny to go around to NEP, pick up a girl, and then be able to see where you just walked from and still hear the music http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/bangkok/majestic_suite_hotel.html
  10. I have used Agoda for bookings all over the world and never had a problem. I always compare, but Agoda always wins on price. They don't always have all the hotels, but lowest prices for sure. I think they're operated from UK but owned by Priceline. Expedia is good and usually competitive rates. Also, they now accept same day bookings, which can come in handy.
  11. No way around it, first day is screwed. I usually opt for the noon flight out of LAX-Tokyo. Sleep the whole way. Then JAL gets into BKK at 10pm. Get to hotel, get food, chill out. Next day, wake up whenever, take it easy. Then hit up the bars at night. Jetlag bothers me much less than the heat. Takes a couple days before I can go out during the day. Takes a couple weeks before I can go out during the day without thinking - F*ck, it's hot! - and feeling like I'm gonna pass out. Jetlag always hits me when I get back. Sleep is screwed for 2 weeks.
  12. Stayed in CL 19, also. Not bad. The restaurant was good, if a bit overpriced. The room was big, the bed was a bit stiff, it had a shower/tub. They were guest friendly, however, they took ID on our way up and when I checked out, I had an extra fee - I think it was 500 baht. Sacha Hotel Uno is on the same street, a little further down. I liked that much better. Looks a little more upscale. The rooms had hard wood floor, huge windows, a huge super-comfy bed that I just sank into, and a decent restaurant, and no one even bothered whether you brought guests back or not.
  13. I got treated there for food poisoning. Amazing facilities. I've never seen such a clean, modern, well-organized hospital in my life. It puts the US medical system to shame. The whole thing - Dr's visit and meds cost me $68. That's about what it costs me to make an appt with my Dr in US, and that's with insurance.
