Hey everyone so I am in town like a month and a bit from now but I want to try and find some options for a place to stay before hand, so here is what I am looking for, not everything is a must except that it has to be close-ish to the action in Bangkok since it will be a first time and alone I don't want to have the possibility of getting seriously lost lol
Budget: anywhere up to $250/night CAD
- decent to large sized room
- no joiner fee
- Internet access included, wireless preferred but not necessary
- clean rooms and friendly staff
That's really about it, I can't think of any other important things. Any input will be highly appreciated!
No need to spend that on a hotel. Take a look at the Dynasty Grande mate. About 2,000 THB per night and a nice hotel. http://www.dynastygrande.com/

Yeas, I realize this is common topic, but I'd appreciate everyone's assistance. I'll be in Bangkok for 4 nights in early April, maybe returning for another 3 nights a week later Phuket/Pattaya in between). Anyway, looking for a GF hotel (impoortant!) that's close to Skytrain (and to the action). Internet in the room is important to me (especially if it's included), but many on my short list have both. I'm not looking to break the bank but I'd like to have some amenities (Internet, good security, good safe in-room, and be in a good location.
In researching the posts here these are on my list:
Grand Majestic (good location, high price, internet)
Admiral Premier (OK location, OK-high price, internet)
Royal President (OK location, OK-high price, internet)
Grand President (good location, high price)
City Lodge Soi 19 (good location, good price, wifi lobby only)
Dynasty Grand (I'm getting them all mixed up now...too many "grandes" and "majestics")
Anyway, you get my point. I'm leaning towards the Admiral Premier or Royal President - they have some good specials right now. Is the walk to the Skytrain a big deal? It doesn't look to be...
Am I on the right track? Any other recommendations? I'm looking to book soon..
Thanks!
Much appreciated.
Dynasty Grande is the one I always suggest. Think it is 1880 THB per night now. Good value.
(and you have to walk by my bar to get to it  )

Thanks........ anyone do banking in BKK? Who do you use? Are they reasonable to deal with? English spoken well enough?
:D
Stay away from Bangkok Bank - they will do your head in. Kasikorn Bank is far better.

An Aussie friend of mine and his Thai wife. Man can he cook. Went there with a couple of mates for a late lunch last week. Asked him to cook what he thought best. We fook me, I have never had such a meal. Ravioli filled with lobster and crab was the starter through to Wagu beef that was like butter. Not cheap but bloody good food.
