  1. I am staying at The Grand President at the moment and for the price it's not too bad. It's very quiet so don't see herds coming and going.
  2. I kid you not, I was once shown trouser material with printed markings 'Swiss made for Thailand'
  3. I have always used Barons, Sukhumvit Road - Soi 7. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Good for monogrammed shirts, trousers, jackets, suits, etc
  4. Does anyone use Priority Pass for Airport Lounges? Just wondering whether it's worth it.
  5. Most hotels around the world don't reply especially if you have booked via a third party.

  8. can you imagine the disappointment, by the time I reached lower Suk everything had shut down and I fly back to Farangland tomorrow evening :(
  9. It's just taken me an hour to clear immigration.
  10. At some hotels you may be able to negotiate a better price if you are staying more than a week.
  11. Still one of the cheaper destinations of the world. Value for money in my opinion.
  12. Bukhara Indian Restaurant, corner of Soi 7 and Sukhumvit, is my all time favourite Indian in Bangkok.
  13. I thought Australian Passport holders were exempt from 30 days tourist visa.

    Retirement Visa

Do you have to apply in your home country or can you also get it when in Thailand?
  15. Cheers guys. Just one more question, do you input the precise address or rely on the pin to pinpoint the location.
  16. Does anyone have experience with Uber in Bangkok? Are they reliable and trustworthy?
  17. I had a similar issue.Tried to log out, clear the cookies, cache and reboot. Worked for me.
  18. Thanks @lev123 - Will try next time. @kopite - My room was on 6th floor, facing the pool so noise was not an issue. I suppose, the higher the floor the quieter it is.
  19. Stayed at this place from 26th to 30th May. For the past 20 years, always have been staying here whenever I am in Bangkok and always rated it very highly. Sadly, on this occasion it was anything but 5 Star. The place is in need of serious refurbishment, especially the rooms. The Wifi can range from non existence to max of 1Mb. Staff are friendly enough and breakfast is good. The only positives going for this place are that it's guest-friendly and the location is perfect for the Sukhumvit experience. Would I stay again - it would really depend on the prices. If you can get a good package deal then probably yes. It is a busy hotel so you will see herds checking in and out throughout the day. Hope this helps others.
  20. Visiting Bkk 26-30 May
