  1. good advice thanks for posting this here! it should also be noted that Thai medical centers are very strict on standards and sterlisation, and are very professional in their approach when dealing with patients. Not that i have needed to use their services yet (touch wood!)
  2. Yeah should not have trouble organising a few weeks before, but definetly look at staying at least 1 night or even 2 as it is such a pretty and relaxing part of thailand.
  3. I stayed at this hotel in July for 3 nights. I always try to stay in a different part of bangkok and i found this hotel to be sufficient to my needs. The hotel has a okay pool, nice big comfortable rooms, good breakfast and very friendly staff. The main downside is getting there from the BTS as you have to cross a busy road with cars turning in 24/7 and if you dont make a run for it u will either get cleaned up or end up standing there all day! If you are coming to bangkok for the girls, this is probably not be best hotel just for the distance and its more of an business type hotel. also our driver who i have been using in bangkok for years had alot of trouble finding the hotel. best to take a map with you. i would stay again
  4. yeah pattaya is better for something good and cheap, but i have found that although prices are higher in bangers the quality seems to be much better. One of the reasons why i liked thai square fashion was they were prepared to firstly pick you up from your hotel for the first consultation and fitting and then will come to your hotel room to do the 2nd and if needed 3rd fittings. However as you say the prices are a bit higher for these tailors.
  5. I have used THAI SQUARE FASHION, which is between Asia Hotel and MBK somewhere, and RAJA'S which is down near nana. Both have been high quality, and much better than anything u will get out of Pattaya.
  6. This is one of my favourite areas in thailand, not just because of the Australian war museums and Hell Fire pass ect, but the great places to stay along the river and the beautiful waterfalls and of course river kwai railway! If you are just going up for the day for the Anzac celebrations you will either need to go up the night before or leave early in the morning as most of the Anzac day services are held in the morning. For a group i think best to hire a mini-van from a private taxi, transport company. if in a group can be quite cheap per person, but u may need to have some maps and directions in thai and English for the driver. can get all these from google search. there is a wikitravel page that should give u all the info you need! http://wikitravel.org/en/Kanchanaburi
  7. yes i believe it it girl friendly, but i have never stayed there myself, but i know someone who has. There is also a site called "Bangkok Tonight" which has a list of all bangkok gf hotels, among other things!
  8. I dont think the moderaters/admistrators actually come on here anymore! But even so no point stiring shit as i just post here to try and give some fellow boys some advice and dont see the point in being confrontational with anyone.
  9. even though this topic started 20 months ago will reply! Enjoy your holiday where a condom unless your not into that, and if you feel worried at the end of your trip get tested when u get back home. on a 10-14 day trip noting is going to come up whilst still in thailand anyway. I get tested every year just cause I like to know where i stand (if that makes sense)
  10. Yeah about 1km to nana, stay on same side of sukhumvit road as hotel and when u come out hook a left about 1km (usually quicker to walk than get a cab) or get the bts one stop to nana. For soi Cowboy just walk up to Asoke BTS and can walk along the walkway (above the road) about 500meters to the corner on other side of road. Once you are across the main intersection take the stairs down and head south about 50metres. If you are taking a girl back from either she probably wont appreciate the walk (most dont) just get a taxi (not a tuk tuk as these are tripple the price)
  11. Another good place to go to is Platinum Mall. This place is frequented more by Thais and is just around the corner from where central world is/was (not sure what has happened with central world since it was burnt down in the riots) You can buy anything here from baggage, electrical, wedding gowns, ect. I have been coming to thailand for years and only found out about this place from a bg that was hanging with me at the time.
  12. I used to stay at Sheraton Grand Sulhumvit when I was with a previous company on business trips about 5 years ago. Hotel is very nice, great rooms, one of the best pools i have used, is close to asoke bts and about half way between soi cowboy and Nana plaza. It has its own coctail type bar and road level, which often has some very cute university/part time hookers. The hotel has always been gf (as far as i know this has not changed).
  13. MBK is one of the biggest shopping centers in Bangkok and this is where you can find some real bargins and haggle on the price. Siam Parragon and Emporium are high end mall and not alot different to the large malls you find in our own countries. MBK is situated just across from Siam square (can walk from here or just get the BTS to National Stadium. I dont know if Central World has re-opened since the riots, but again another high end type mall. If you are looking for night markets, Patpong night markets are the best for counterfeit / knock off clothes ect.
  14. There are some really nice golf courses around Ayutthaya and some that are about 30mins out of bangkok towards Ayutthaya. If you play off the blue tees, you need to be a pretty big hitter as there seems to be alot of water hazards on these courses. I spent 5 days there not long ago as one of my business partners has a factory there, and i found the courses to be quite challenging but enjoyable to play.
  15. 1000bht joiner fee! definetly a place to stay away from I think. I just had a look at the website and it does look like a really nice hotel, but there are plenty of top hotels around bangkok in the 3000bht range where there is no joiner fees. If u ever need help looking for a good hotel in the area, just message me as i am a frequent business traveller to bangkok! Thanks for the review!
  16. Definetly my tip would be to stay at Dynasty Grand! Great hotel, close to the action, good sized rooms, free internet, room safes, big pool, and really friendly staff that never look down on you when you walk in with your girl for the night.
  17. Lately while on business have been staying at Emporium Suites. Hotel is really nice, but not as expensive as some of the other high end hotels, is situated alongside Emporium shopping mall (high end mall), located right next to Phrom Phong BTS, which allows u to go anyway in the bkk cbd with ease and has some nice restaurants in the area. It has a really good breakfast and if you go delux or higher, then the breakfast is in a different part of the hotel and is fantastic. It is supposed to be bg friendly although I havent tested this out as loved up at the momement.
  18. I am arriving from Singapore into bkk about 4pm on my next visit and i know the traffic will be hell around that time, so think their will be a definite advantage to using the subway during the daytime. But if arriving later at night i think taxis would be more convenient. I too will not be holding my breath for the completion on this line!
  19. Nice one! I always go to Kinnaree Thai restaurant and bar, in soi 8, as i have always enjoyed the food there and close to where i usually stay. I will definetly try the Busseracum on my next visit to bkk.
  20. I remember going there a few years ago, with with some thai business men and i think i was the only westerner in the whole place. Alot of Thai's will have birthday's there and work functions. from what i remember the food was pretty good and they did serve imported beer. Seemed like quite a good night, the night i went anyway.
  21. i know someone who stayed there recently through one of these deals and wanted to extend his stay for a couple of nights, but they would not give the same price as what he paid through the agent, but normal price. I think some staff dont have the power to bargain. Depends on the hotels of course.
  22. as i sometimes book through Agoda bookings they sometimes will send a price update on specials for bkk hotels. I noticed this week they have Dynasty Grand, which normally never uses these hotel booking agencies at a much cheaper price than you will ever get from booking direct. they will usually have a certain number of hotel on special from week to week, so worth a look.
  23. thanks for the review. I have been interested in this place as heard some other good reports about the place, but i normally stay on the other side of Sukhumvit road. do they have wifi? what is their internet strength like?
  24. its just a little too close to the action for me, but it always seems to be full so must suit alot of guys who want to be right on top of the action. I think the Dynasty hotel (50 meters up soi 4) has some good deals and have been told rooms there are a little bit better.
  25. I have been doing some importing of Thai products into Australia last few months and when I transfer money across into my suppliers accounts I do have to have the exact name and spelling of the account or the payment will bounce.
