  1. Because why stay in an apartment where you have to clean the place up by yourself, sheets and towels are not changed, room service is not available, breakfast must be handled by yourself and you never know if the place is actually good (compared to hotels where you have TripAdvisor, etc)

Also outlandish is right, minimum is 30 days for rental of apartments. If the jurisdict of the condo finds out, they may contact the owner, and you might have to find a new place to stay.

I live in Bangkok, so for me it’s cheaper and makes more sense to have my own place and thus I rent a condo, but if and when I travel to Bangkok on holiday, it’s only hotels for me. Although have booked a service apartment before though that’s also practically a hotel.

  2. The first time I came to Bangkok alone back in 2015, I stayed at a hotel along soi 1 and I ended up having dinner here as my first meal in Bangkok.

Needless to say that it is now one of my favorite street food places to go to. Not too expensive, very tasty food, and good location.

They make some of the best pla pao there.

I usually bring my friends or family to dine here whenever they are in town but also occasionally go there and dine alone. I see no reason to not go there alone.

  3. If you intend to head to RCA to pick up a freelancer or even pick up a non-working girl, you’re going to have to be Asian, speak thai, live in Bangkok, have money, and look like Mario Maurer.

freelancers do not go to RCA to get picked up by foreign men on vacation. They go there to enjoy the music, drink and dance.

Yes freelancers do go to nightclubs, just not the ones at RCA if they are looking for sex for money. They will frequent the ones on soi 11 instead.

  4. I'm planning on taking my first trip to BKK and l was wondering if anyone has stayed at Apartments Siamese Gioia.

The information/pictures on Agoda seem to support that it's a good place to stay and the overall reviews on Agoda & Google and Trip Advisor support this.

I was just wanting to know from people who have traveled to BKK before how it stacks up in terms of price, location and if you have stayed there what was your experience like?

Thanks in advance for any advice, thoughts, stories or experiences.

Never stayed there, never even heard of it. But a quick google search and I see its along Soi 31 and quite deep into the soi.

So just right off the bat I wouldnt stay there. Terrible location for mongering, and even if you plan on doing other things besides mongering, there are much better hotels that you'll be able to find else where.

  5. It's sad that every place has larger and larger girls.  Wasn't like that 10-20 years ago.  Everyone is getting fat these days.

thats not the worst part. the worst part is that these larger girls are asking for prices you would pay for a much hotter skinnier girl.

    or so I've heard.

  6. Closer to Nana Plaza, theres the 5 star hotels JW Marriott and The Landmark Hotel. If not theres Majestic Suites (4 stars) just around the corner from Soi 4 along the main sukhumvit road.

Soi 2 has a couple of nice boutique hotels as well, Aspen Suites, Hotel Icon, Hotel Solo, but for me personally the walk into Soi 4 is too long and boring.

Plenty of massage places and cheap eats around Nana area, although to be fair you will not find high quality girls in these types of massage places.

Skip the beer bars, you will probably not find any hot young girls there. I would have recommended The Lord soapy massage but it is currently under renovation. Maybe it will be finished by the time you arrive. Girls start around 7k or 8k. Poseidon 3rd floor model lounge usually always has a couple of stunner as well. Prices start around 4k. You will have to add another 1k or 1.5k for the farang charge if applicable.

In Nana, just hit the rainbow bars and Billboard.

Also, Nana is really not that far from Soi Cowboy and you could always just venture back to Soi Cowboy if nothing in Nana interests you.

  7. "Remember you're a guest in their country"???? Just think of all the hoops you have to jump through if you want to stay here or even stay more than 30 days.

If I treated guests in my house the way the Thai authorities treat me, I don't think they would remain guests for long.

It's the same for loads of countries not only Thailand. If you want to stay longer than the allowed duration a tourist visa allows, get a working visa, educational visa, retirement visa, etc. If people were allowed to simply enter any country and demand they stay there for the rest of their lives, well then fuck.

  8. Thanks, just checked a prices on the other forum and it seems it`s around 4k THB for a month incl. sub. fee, that is IMO an overkill, any other places available?

Depending on the length of the contract, fitness first is slightly above 2k a month. The signing fee is something like 1.5k but it's a one time payment. Don't know who told you this info, but this is what they quoted me when I signed up.

  9. Just had an unconfirmed report that the direct train is no more and the other one that stops at all statiins is packed.

It's a direct train but it's not a non stop train. So it'll still stop at all the ARL stations.

Yes its true that if you take from the city to the airport, it is incredibly packed. I had to wait 45 mins and could only take the 4th train.

But from the airport to the city, it's not full at all considering you get on at the airport when it's already empty.

  10. How often do you guys ever take the Airport Rail Link instead of a taxi or Uber? It's been many years since I was last in Bangkok, but it used to take me about the same amount of time (45 min) whether it was by ARL or taxi to get to Phrom Phong. ARL would be 82 baht while taxi I'd say 400 baht.

Ive done it a few times but to be honest, its not worth the hassle if u have alot of luggage. I think u change over at Asok if lm not mistaken? Anyway, while its safe l think its better to just pay a little more and get a taxi who l must say, are relatively stress free compared to years ago when they'd try all sorts of crap to rip people off. It takes me around 30-45 minutes in a taxi to get to Nana still and a little longer l think by train. I travel with 10kg cabin luggage and l still catch a taxi as after a long flight l just want to have a shower and head out...

I have used it twice. Once from my condo in Rama 9 to the airport and then airport back to my condo.

It is fairly straight forward and I will probably go down this route next week as all I'll have is a carry on small suitcase.

You actually can either change at makkasan, then walk to petchaburi mrt (it's connected), take the mrt to sukhumvit station and from there, either walk or take the BTS to wherever.

Or take the ARL till the end at phaya thai and then BTS to wherever.
