Why don't people use airbnb more?
davvvid replied to luvpoon's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Because why stay in an apartment where you have to clean the place up by yourself, sheets and towels are not changed, room service is not available, breakfast must be handled by yourself and you never know if the place is actually good (compared to hotels where you have TripAdvisor, etc) Also outlandish is right, minimum is 30 days for rental of apartments. If the jurisdict of the condo finds out, they may contact the owner, and you might have to find a new place to stay. I live in Bangkok, so for me it’s cheaper and makes more sense to have my own place and thus I rent a condo, but if and when I travel to Bangkok on holiday, it’s only hotels for me. Although have booked a service apartment before though that’s also practically a hotel. -
Re SeaFood Soi One Fish Market
davvvid replied to Tom Tit's topic in Restaurants, Places to Eat and nightlife
The first time I came to Bangkok alone back in 2015, I stayed at a hotel along soi 1 and I ended up having dinner here as my first meal in Bangkok. Needless to say that it is now one of my favorite street food places to go to. Not too expensive, very tasty food, and good location. They make some of the best pla pao there. I usually bring my friends or family to dine here whenever they are in town but also occasionally go there and dine alone. I see no reason to not go there alone. -
Apartment Siamese Gioia
davvvid replied to TheSilverback's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Never stayed there, never even heard of it. But a quick google search and I see its along Soi 31 and quite deep into the soi. So just right off the bat I wouldnt stay there. Terrible location for mongering, and even if you plan on doing other things besides mongering, there are much better hotels that you'll be able to find else where.- 1 reply

thats not the worst part. the worst part is that these larger girls are asking for prices you would pay for a much hotter skinnier girl. or so I've heard.

It's the same for loads of countries not only Thailand. If you want to stay longer than the allowed duration a tourist visa allows, get a working visa, educational visa, retirement visa, etc. If people were allowed to simply enter any country and demand they stay there for the rest of their lives, well then fuck.

Nearest beach from Bangkok
davvvid replied to thaifootfetisch's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
Hua Hin, Koh Samet, Pattaya (terrible beach though), Koh Chang, Koh Larn are all a couple hours drive away. Koh Chang, Koh Larn, and Koh Samet will require you to take a boat/ferry as well. -
Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit

Ah I guess it got pushed back. -
Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit
davvvid replied to aceswild's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Yes I know. That is the Hyatt Place. Slightly further away from the action if you dont mind it. Hyatt Regency will be opening soon, and it'll be along Suk Soi 13 which is right smack in the middle of the action, in between Nana and Soi Cowboy. -
Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit

Depending on when you are coming, Hyatt regency sukhumvit should be opening soon. It’ll be along soi 13. Closer to the action, and most probably girl friendly. -
laundry near Sofitel Sukhumvit?
davvvid replied to pointplace's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
Along Soi 13 http://www.hispeedlaundry.com/ -
sofitel sukhumvit or Pullmann Grande
davvvid replied to pointplace's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Choose Sofitel. It has a much better location. Located in between soi cowboy and nana, it's an easy 5 minute walk to either place. Also, it's directly beside Thermae so if you are feeling lazy, just head down, pick a girl and bring her back to your room. -
Depending on the length of the contract, fitness first is slightly above 2k a month. The signing fee is something like 1.5k but it's a one time payment. Don't know who told you this info, but this is what they quoted me when I signed up.

where can i find nice male massage in bangkok?
davvvid replied to bkkgal's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
Along Silom Soi 4. As well as along Silom road heading in the direction of Silom Soi 4. -
That still narrows it down to more than half the night clubs in bkk.

What kind of clubs are you looking for? Foreigner based clubs? Freelancer clubs? Thai clubs? Gentleman clubs? Country clubs? Community clubs? Golf clubs?

It's a direct train but it's not a non stop train. So it'll still stop at all the ARL stations. Yes its true that if you take from the city to the airport, it is incredibly packed. I had to wait 45 mins and could only take the 4th train. But from the airport to the city, it's not full at all considering you get on at the airport when it's already empty.

I have used it twice. Once from my condo in Rama 9 to the airport and then airport back to my condo. It is fairly straight forward and I will probably go down this route next week as all I'll have is a carry on small suitcase. You actually can either change at makkasan, then walk to petchaburi mrt (it's connected), take the mrt to sukhumvit station and from there, either walk or take the BTS to wherever. Or take the ARL till the end at phaya thai and then BTS to wherever.

Would you live near Nana/Soi Cowboy?
davvvid replied to Worldmonger's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
I think the thread is discussing living on a more permanent basis due to work, retirement and not on holiday. -
Hilton or JW Marriott on Sukumvit in Dec
davvvid replied to sonofsam2's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Just FYI, the Marriott with the roof top bar is not a JW. -
I was on an ED visa for 6 months. Not sure if it'll help?

It's basically everywhere except in the BTS and indoors. And it usually slowly calms down once the sun goes down. Except for the bar/entertainment/clubs area where from my personal experience, I have been shot with water guns walking from soi 2 to soi 4 around 8pm. But if you look like you have somewhere important to go (wearing a suit), or with children (baby stroller) or like you said dragging luggage then maybe they will not splash you with water. But then again I can't be sure. No one can. This is thailand after all. Another option would be to just take a cab from the airport directly to your hotel.
