  1. Hi, which bars/co. would you recommend that run the best trips in patts? And are there any frisky caddies out there? Friends in Jakarta talk about beautiful caddies around there just curious about thailand
  2. I have not been to pantip since late 2016 but it is a shell of what it used to be. But maybe its filled in by now with new tenants. Almost all the bootleg stuff as gone. A lot of the good tenants were gone. I much rather go to fortune town at Rama 9 and a lot easier to get to from term 21. It also full of girls from the massage places and from uni after 4pm which pantip never is. Good place to hang out at for an afternoon. Lots of pc and mac repair places also. I stopped going to pantip after finding fortune town mall. The food court sucks just basic food but Rama 9 mall across the street has all the food options you could want and lots of girls and expats
  3. Probably too old to help you but for others, there are no real bars Out in on nut or phrakhanong or out towards bangchak until you get to udom Suk 103. Even then they are thai bars. On nut is up and coming for thai couples or expats with some money but also a lot of expat teachers with no money but they can afford new modern condos for 15000-30000b/month. It’s pretty shitty to be honest, no good restaurants and no nightlife and quite along way to get to Asoke or nana. Ekkamai and thonglor have thai nightclubs and expat pubs.
  4. how do you post images i can't seem to see the attachment icon anywhere or procedure to add images for the airport thank you
  5. using the metered taxis is the best and most convenient. The ARL can be crowded as the thais use it to get into bangkok at night. With luggage i'd probably just use a taxi. The ARL is in the basement in case anyone is not aware of the location The meter Taxis are down the escalators and then exit on the left. There is a door about mid way down the hall. But don't walk all the way to the end hoping to walk the distance in a/c as there is no door at the end of the hall.
  6. Ive seen teams practice and play games at central Rama 9 mall towards the back by the theatres. Biggest ice surface I've seen in bkk.
  7. Issaya cooking class at embassy mall phloen chit bts both thai and English but expensive and hiso by celeb chef. Or abc cooking school in central world mall not sure if they do it in English.
  8. Thank you for the feedback and the info on boi very intriguing and certainly something i was looking into.
  9. Hello, i have a bit of a complex visa question i hope someone can help with. I currently have a valid 1 year multiple entry business visa. I am currently out of thailand. I am Canadian. THe visa expires at the end of July. I will probably be out of thailand on family matters when it expires. However i had read that you can simply get a visa extension instead of a new business visa. Is that accurate and can you do that outside thailand? Because of the serious problems with health for family i will be putting my business plans on hold for 6-24 months. Starting a business in thailand once they are resolved. But i will be traveling to thailand during that time to continue to develop business leads and connections so that I don't loose all my connections I've developed. If that makes sense. I believe i had read that you can get 2-3 1 year extensions and then after that you can apply for a different visa or residency that is cheaper and less paper work. CAn anyone explain the options currently available for making the most of the business visa. THere is a possibility of a short trip to thailand if its a benefit in the long term to extend the visa around the end of July ( before or after it expires depending on the requirements i am assuming before it expires ) Thank you for your help and suggestions
  10. red cross mens clinic by lumphini park is pretty good. prices change based on income and # of tests. I only got hiv 1 hour and syphilis tests and only around 500b i think. expat helps out with reception. They recently reno'd the place and the time only took 1 hour 14 min from time to walk in the door to getting the results and leaving.
  11. Try se asia pharmacy by suk soi15. Not the absolute cheapest but good quality at good price and easy location to find by asoke.
  12. 1 hour test at red cross near sala daeng bts. HIV and syphilis b600 About 10 min walk from sala daeng bts. At the door you get a number. From there you enter data on a computer. Then go to the reception to confirm data. About 3 min. Wait to pay about 1 min After paying go upstairs to the left side #9/10. Wait for blood test and test 2 min. Done now wait 1 hour for results. Across the street is lumphini park and street food. Can contemplate life with HIV IN A NICE PARK SETTING. Go back wait upstairs on right side. At 1 hour called to go downstairs to dr office. Waited 3 min and called to review results. Finished 1 hour 15 min after entry. 600b They have a pilot project for prep drug if hiv neg its 92% effictive in blocking future contracting hiv. Cost 1000b a month. Should be free for bar girls.
  13. always get a great massage at tree massage on 79. Well trained girls and guys in there. Avoid the massage place at the beginning of suk soi 77. The one by the police box and lights. The girls in there are not trained well and they injured my back. There is a really good therapy massage place around 56 but its pretty expensive and i've never been ( had a friend go several times ) so i don't know the exact address. Or try Health land, they are pretty reasonable for price but most fill up with thais in the evening so book ahead or go during the day if possible.
  14. I was looking at starting up a business in the next 2 months in central thailand. What does this really mean. If you get it up and running before the law changes you are ok or just screwed once the law passes? Does the law if passed not allow a foreigner even with a thai partner to run a business? Anyone have a good insight on how this will play out over the next year to 5 years if passed? Just another idea pitched and then rejected because its going to drive a lot of people out of thailand. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/Sole-foreigners-barred-from-running-business-30290222.html THE Business Development Department has reviewed a new draft law and added in the document that a foreign individual cannot register a business in the Kingdom. The move aims to prevent |foreign enterprises from competing against Thais in many businesses that should be preserved for Thais. The original draft, known as "one person, one company", states only that a single person can register a business in Thailand.
  15. I got sick a lot this trip not sure why ( multiple time over 6 month stay ) but never from street food. It was always from higher end restaurants, go figure that out. Also from the grocery store all around ekamai. But maybe it was the water from the condo. I've drank the water from the tap with no problem before so i don't really see that being the problem. Anyways i would not worry about street food in thailand. Street food in Cambodia yes.
  16. w market at phrakanong bts has opened, some of the vendors from onnut moved over there. Nice smaller market but no roof so i don't know what will happen in rainy season. Much smaller but the same prices for the most part. a bit further walk to the bts though maybe 200m. not as dirty as onnut and surrounded by art businesses and some small cafes and indoor outdoor live music. Unfortunately not as many thai girls go there and it can be a bit hard to find.
  17. i second foodland on soi5. not too expensive and good.
  18. NEO smile just south of the intersection of sukhumvit and soi 21. About 50m from the lights. exit the bts on the south east and head down the stairs. Walk to the lights ( the road bends south ) turn to the right (south) and walk about 50m. There will be a bar/hotel and alley keep going and there will be a great veggie restaurant. Next door is NEO smile. Been going for years, was referred there by a thai friend. Very fair and only do what is necessary. x-rays are 200b and cleaning is about 600, depends on how much cleaning is needed. ( i would add an image of the price list but i can't figure out how to add a file )555
  19. had x-ray and cleaning ( normal nothing crazy ) for 800b. American trained dentist.
  20. a thai friend went to the sheraton right beside terminal 21. Said it was good food and not to expensive. Cheaper than sofitel. I heard ibis nana on soi 4 has a buffet for cheap but not sure how good. Im pretty sure many of the hotels offer buffets in nana. A few have pretty good prices from memory but its been to long to remember exactly which hotels offer what and for what price.
  21. Look for where the thais eat. Get out of the tourist areas like nana ( as a general rule ) Try Or Tor Kor market just outside JJ chatuchak market. Open everyday it is a farmers market with a wide selection of prepared food to sample and fresh veggies and fruits. Best and cleanest selection in bangkok for market food. Take mrt to kampaeng phet stop and exit 3. it is there as soon as you leave the station. Every thing tastes better at 3am.
  22. Thats along read, but very informative, thanks. every massage place i tried around 79 and 77 (except one but I'm 90% sure i could have got extras if i asks, the girl was married and had a baby i think that changed the offer, but it had that feel in there, the massage place is at the end of soi 77 by the traffic police booth) gave hj extras around 500b. Usually i just ask for an oil massage for 350-400b. They always provide me with a women. ( i have seen guys getting foot massages from guys so i think the key is 1 hour oil massage upstairs to avoid getting a guy) At some point the masseuse has always offered hj. To the point that i often get throughly teased why i don't want a hj. A thai elbow in the groin for some reason takes all the desire for a hj away. The 1st place with the statues offers them on the left. The last place tree massage offers them upstairs. I think the other thing is the girl needs to be single. I get excellent massages at tree and get hj offers everytime i go. I will take the girl up on her offer next time, before she puts that elbow in my groin. It is also the older girls late 30's and 40's that are quite open about extras. The younger prettier girls i have no experience with.
  23. There is supposed to be a good one on soi 11/1 beside the old check-inn. pho massage or something like that. I have never been but have read it in a couple of places. I usually go out in on nut since i live out there. Very good massages for 400b/hr oil. They give extra services as well upstairs at expat prices not tourist prices.
