  1. When I use Agoda, I get a pop up that asks if I'm sure that I want to navigate away from this page. Anyone else? This pop up is used by malware, spyware and virus purveyors to install their wares. By clicking yes, that you do want to navigate away, what you are sometimes saying is yes, I do want you to install. It's first lesson Visual Basic--the text box and the execute language can be different. I have to use task manager to close out the browser to keep from hitting yes.
  2. I was leaning towards the Continental flight until I saw that it was operated by United. At this point Delta is looking easiest, I just don't like the 5 hour layover in Mpls that is not part of the deal on Travelocity, maybe a phone call will find the shorter flight... Yes, Tulsa or XNA airports do offer only limited options and yes, it appears to be a hassle getting to LA, NY or CHI because those destinations have multiple airports... And yes, again, some American flight attendants are a lot like used toilet paper. Thanks for the help.
  3. Thanks for the tip. I had been to a few airline sites before and was quoted wacked prices. This time Delta and Continental are quoting decent rates. American wants me to choose a flight and then gives the price, I don't have the time to search that way. I won't fly United--they suck. which ones am I forgetting?
  4. I've been shopping for the right flight/hotel deal for weeks. The prices are starting to rise, so I decided to buy today. Sweetheart deal 13 nights at the 4 star Rembrandt Hotel and flight for $1,857 from the center of the US. I bought it on CheapTickets.com. When the final page popped up, it told me that the deal was no longer available. So I tried for the next day. Breezing right along until the final page and it says my debit card was declined. Hmmmm, it was fine 5 minutes earlier. Called my bank and found that CheapTickets has authorized $1,348.60 of my $2,000 daily limit. Called CheapTickets and asked them to do something. So we conference called my bank and explained the situation. A couple of hours later my bank raised my daily limit so that I could do the deal for the next day. Same thing...last page says the deal is no longer available and they authorized for another 1,348.60. Fortunately I'm still on the phone with my bank and she raises my limit again. So I choose another hotel...same thing...last page says that the deal is no longer available. It probably was not the flight that wasn't available because CheapTickets still listed 4 seats available, but showed the hotel as not avalable for the first hotel, but not the second. I chalked it up to bait and switch. I booked with Travelocity the last time, so I'll probably deal with them again tomorrow after the authorizations lift. Unless someone here knows a better way. Help anyone? I like the feeling of security and discount when buying both hotel and flight at the same time, but I do like the review posted here by luvyoulongtime for the Darjelling Hotel, so I'd book separately if the flight was cheap enough.
  5. Thanks. This looks like a nice budget hotel. With the Red Shirts in Silom, where I last stayed, it's time to explore another area. Planning on a May 12 arrival. Trying to get a flight/hotel package with this inn ask I write this. None so far. Thanks again for posting the pics and review.
  6. Feeling less sheepish

  7. I stayed at the Furama X Si Lom last Sept/Oct. No complaints at all. I have nothing to measure it by other than US hotels, but it would've cost at least three times as much in the States. The only reason I won't go back is that I'd like to see other parts of Bangkok up close. 24 hours doorman. Door card protected elevator. On site laundromat. Two free bottles of water daily. Decent American breakfast bar included. Out of traffic. Quiet. Close to transport. Kitchenette. Room safe. Party sized shower. Even an umbrella in the closet. Cable TV could have been better, but I wasn't there for TV, wouldn't have mattered if not for H1N1 that I caught from the Chinese girl on the flight over.
