swerve01
I just posted a short report on a recent trip to Bkk and wanted to give some feedback on my hotels accommodation too. For some time in the past, I tended to stay at the Majestic Suites near Soi 4, Sukhumvit. A couple of times I stayed at a small inexpensive boutique hotel called Lotus Suites- and better still at The Dawin Bangkok hotel which was great value, comfortable. I almost stayed at the Ibis once, but changed my mind because I came across like a higher end backpacker/ budget traveller place. Unfortunately, over time the location became tiresome because it was too close to "the action" and at times I did not enjoy running the gauntlet down Soi 4. In my recent trip, I booked at the Ambassador- whereas the rooms were comfortable and the hotel in general was good, the security personnel demanded money from me when I brought a girl back with me- ostensibly for the cost of taking a copy of the girl's identity card- which was BS as I discovered when I spoke to the hotel management. Unfortunately after I objected nothing changed and in fact the security guys began to harass the girls for money as they were leaving as well. It was only after I decided to check out that the management committed to take the matter seriously but it was too late for me by then. I moved down the road to Grand President- good hotel, good value, good staff, no issues with the girls I brought back. I will probably go back there again next time. Hope this helps.
