Richard Mason
I am staying here in November and it wasn't till I booked the hotel, I realised how far it was away from the tourist areas. How much would a taxi be to the grand palace? Can I barter with a taxi driver? How much more are tuk tuks?
rowy
You would be better off to go to the nearest BTS station and take that to Saphan Taksin station. You can take the ferry from there to get to the Grand Palace. This way you eliminate having to deal with all the traffic on the roads. When taking a taxi, just have him use the meter. It will be cheaper than any flat rate the driver will agree to take you for. Don't even bother with the tuk tuks unless you just want to say you took one. Kimao
My friend lives on the top floor of the residence portion of chatrium. Amazing river view. You can get a Tuktuk to Asiatique or Patpong very easily for 100 baht. You are overpaying but if you are staying at Chatrium that shouldn't be a big issue. There is a complimentary river shuttle to Saphan Thaksin BTS station that arrives every 20-30 mins which will give you easy access to Nana BTS, although not the closest location for sure.
