World Traveller
I do not mean recommendations of specific buildings. I mean areas where the market is very competitive because there are many. I am going to go knocking on doors for 2-3 days soon. Budget: 7-9K THB. Duration: 1-2 months Essentials... 1. Kitchen 2. Mattress 3. MRT Everything else is superfluous. I don't care if it is a condo, a hotel, a service apartment, Air BnB or a commune of vegetarian lesbians (I fit one of those). I am a hobby cook and the kitchen is the weakness in every budget place. I found the perfect place in Surin (very quiet, 7K, electricity included, huge three-room suite, great kitchen). But I need to be in Bangkok or vicinity. World Traveller
Just realized there could be a snag... this little thing called extension of temporary stay. No visa even. I have no idea whether I will be granted a second extension. If I was the owner or lessor (sp?) of a property I would pass on renting to foreigners in such a tenuous situation as 'Thailand Pass'

If there is a kitchen, don't expect western standard equipment or any equipment at all. On Nut has BTS, but don't know about MRT. Maybe you have to switch. As you already guessed, renting a condo is out of your options (legally), but you can still ask around. AirBnB or a Hotel maybe, but will be a challenge with your Budget, but not impossible.
