This is so true man. Amazing how your everyday Thai girls on the BTS are so good looking!I normally buy the BTS one day pass and travel up and down as any times I want.To me looking at the beautiful Thai girls on the train itself is fun!!!

In my opinion, hotels are plentiful and cheap in BKK, why even need to consider AirBnB? Plus many Thai people work in the hotel industry to put food on the table so I think we should support the hotel industry by booking the good old hotel rather than AirBnB.

If I were to book a room for one person in a GF-friendly hotel, can I still bring a girl back to my room? Or will they charge me?
-
You can also take a 2 hour bus ride to Pattaya of course! :)

the food court is not expensive. Good variety and clean cool environment.Terminal 21 .....best option for all age groups.
A bit expensive but still worth a look

I have walked along Soi 11 few times but never knew about this restaurant. Thanks for the review and comments. Will keep in mind for the BKK trip in December!
-
Thanks for the review. I think its location is excellent.
Since there is no restaurant, I suppose there is no buffet breakfast?

After thinking long and hard(Yes...my head hurts!),and extensive research on other forums,I've come to the conclusion that the best way to go is to take the airport link to Makkasan, and get a taxi from there to Asoke(Where the condo.where I'm staying is).
On the taxi side you save the 50baht airport surcharge and don't have to pay the hi-way tolls. From Makkasan to Sukhumvit ,it's only a 5 minute taxi ride.
Taking your luggage to the airport link is the same distance(If not closer)as going to the taxi stand.
No problems with airport taxi drivers, either!
Food for thought
Sounds like a good idea as long as u dont have too many heavy luggage to carry on to the airport link.

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has stayed at a hotel called the Sivatel. It located near Ploen Chit station across the road from the British embassy and close (I think) to MBK.
I have booked a 2 bedroom suite, going with a mate. The booking sya it is for a maximum of 4 people. does this mean they will be ok if we bring a couple of girls back to the room ?
Also wondering how far from soi Cowboy and Nanna this hotel is. It seems Nanna is only one stop away on the sky train but I was wondering how long it would take to walk if I wanted to.
Any info is appreciated.
Cheers.
Yes Nana is one stop away (walk bout 10min) & Soi Cowboy two stops away .

I'm confused. What's the minimum for VAT refund, 2000 or 5000 baht?
-
I stayed in Le Fenix in July this year. Nice rooms, large shower, complimentary water everyday, good buffet breakfast and close to many clubs and bars on happening soi 11. I would stay there again.

Chatuchak weekend market.

How about a boat ride on the chao praya river and a visit to khao san road?

There's something wrong with the mobile version. The button on the top right hand screen cannot be clicked to open the menu to login, see new posts, etc.

Agoda is great, I have booked hotels down Soi 8 for about $40 (AUD) per night which is fair budget. One is an apartment with kitchen. These kind of prices are available for NEXT NIGHT, so don't ever walk into a hotel to book a room, just use the Net even the day before you need a room. Agoda is approx 50% of walk-in price.
Soi 8 is as central as you can get in Suk IMO.
The homepage search engine is the best, you can click for Suk, pool, star rating, and it tells you how many results you will get before you click - makes narrowing down what you want a breeze.
Watch out for the taxes on Agoda though, they sting you about 20% on top of the advertised price, that can hurt :o
if that's the case, booking.com is better than Agoda. No extra fees.
I used booking.com to book my hotels in BKK n Pattaya back in July n it's a good site.

How about Madame Tussouds. Is it worth visiting?

I will really appreciate if someone could explain me what has the word "LIMO" has become to in Thailand...
Limo is meant to be the shortened work for limousine.

Yes agree Bangkok is very safe. Just keep ur common sense n u should be fine. I can't wait to go back! :)

I must check out Emporium next time I'm there to visit the MPs :P
-
Yes and I thought the food court was good too. great variety of delicious local food that was cheap and in A clean aircond environment. I would go back next time.
Added fyi, there's also a cinema in terminal 21. Movie day is Wednesday's where tix are cheapest, I think 100B .

I went to Thailand in July and booked all my hotels through Booking.com, as it was recommended by a friend. No booking fees. They just take ur credit card details to secure the booking but u don't get charged until u check-in. U get a chance to cancel the booking a few days before. I would use it again.
Does Agoda have booking fees?

Many stalls along Sukhumvit Road sell Viagra, Cialis, and other "brands" of pills. Has anyone tried these and are they similar to the genuine articles. That is do they work ok?
Yea I saw them when I was there in July n was wondering the same thing too.
Not that I needed them, just curious.

I stayed here last month. Most of the important stuff about this hotel has been said in this thread. I just wanted to add that using the internet in the lobby is 30B for 30min. If u book for 1 hour, it's 50B. I thought I could find cheaper internet outside the hotel like a cybercafe but there weren't much choices and the ones I found had pretty much the same rate as the hotel.

I thought the daily buffet breakfast at La Fenix hotel on sukhumvit soi 11 was quite good.
Why don't people use airbnb more?

I want the Thai people who work in the hotel industry to keep their jobs.
