Today in the Bangkok Post, Page 2, The Round Up
A taxi driver who allegedly tricked passengers into believing his car had broken down and needed a push-start, then made off with valuables they had left in his vehicle, has been arrested, police say.
Police said Makha Channo, 31, fooled three female passengers into stepping out of his car to give him assistance.
Once they had left the vehicle, Mr Makha started the ‘‘malfunctioning’’ engine and drove away, police said.
Police seized eight bags and wallets, three mobile phones and three ATM cards during a raid on his room in an apartment in Phra Khanong district.
Police said Mr Makha targetted victims in Wang Thong Lang, Hua Mak, Khok Khram, Sutthisan and Min Buri. They said the suspect admitted he had robbed people on three occasions.

Great photos, plahgat. Those are very helpful for picturing the place.

The one on Soi 2 is very guest friendly ,and a good place to stay the rooms have everything you need in them and the good thing about this Amari is it has a back entry dirctly on to soi 4 opesite the Omni Tower, so a 5 min walk to (NEP), and action al the way up the soi. Just to add mate if you are here for over 3/4 day perfect have washing matchines and all the mod cons ,so no waiting to get your dancing gear back ,
I second Andy's recommendation. I love this place. It is easy to get to but far enough off Sukh to be quiet. Guest friendly. And the ensuite washer/dryer is great for traveling light! Fridge, microwave and a Foodland on Soi 5 looks after any late night munchies you and your guest develop.

After passing through immigration, where do you go for the train? Would like to try next time.

I can recommend the Citadines Sukh 23. On Soi 23 just a few hundred metres from Cowboy. Guest friendly. I never had any problems in March. Book the room for 2 people - same price as one. Quiet, modern, clean. Around the corner is the Crossbar, a Brit sports pub. Across the street are some massage places. Cowboy is a 5 minute walk. Just checked their website, room are about 1500-1600B. Wait until June and check again then.
If it helps for banking, there is a Citibank branch and ATM's across the street.

Not so much looking for a new suit but are there any tailors around that do clothing alterations? Most of the ones I tried on Sukhumvit last time were only interested in selling me a new suit. Gave up after about 5 different shops.
S'n'D
I had a jacket, pants and 2 shirts made at Tailor on Ten, which is actually on Suk Soi 8 near the end. Bit of a walk and a little more expensive than those on Suk. But I think it is a good sign that they don't need touts on the street trying to get you inside.

I will be heading back to Thailand in 8 weeks!! Looking to meet new friends. I am 45 and generally take things slow but like to keep moving. I like to have a few drinks, look at pretty girls and have some fun.
So far the schedule looks like this:
Sept 15 - 20 - BKK for general mongering
Sept 21-24 Singapore for the F1 night race
Sept 25-Oct 5 for more general mongering and plan to meet a lady from thailovelinks for possible relationship (not at same time  ). Also might try to squeeze in a trip to Siem Reap for the temples.
Oct 5-12 off to the other side of the world and spend some time with a lady in Dominican Republic
Then back to work for 6 months and much needed rest.
Let me know if you will be in town and interested in meeting for a beer.
