  1. I know it's so brilliant!! πŸ€ͺ Btw I figured out how to identify them with a very high rate of success: The ones that are freelancers have their settings with the tag " looking for men between the age of 30 and 60" . Looks like 60 is the highest bracket there and that's how you know their freelancers because the "good girls" prefer to fish within a max of 5-10 years above their age bracket.
  2. Thanks guys, this is still all 'New" to me. I guess my "freelancer" radar is terrible because I can never recognize which one is which, and earlier there was a girl who just sent me a 🧐 smiley. So i was like "yo wtf is 🧐 🧐 🧐 🧐 " and she just replied "I'm a freelancer". πŸ˜‚ Which cracked me up you know, because "i'm a freelancer" is actually proper english grammar, which is more than I can say about 99% of the girls there πŸ˜† Anyways sounds like i'll have a nice life in Bangkok lol
  3. Hello I'm 46, I'm not that ugly, and my profile pictures look pretty good. I've been matched with countless girls who seem to like me enough to press the button, but as soon as I start talking to them they clam up and say stuff like "hi" on loop or repeat the same thing over and over like bots. Well I suppose maybe they are bots lol.. but I was told it was a decent site to find ,if not a girlfriend, at least some friends to hang out with. Even the freelancers don't speak much. Am I missing the obvious?
  4. Thanks it looks fixed, because i got notified of this thread πŸ™‚ Cheers!
  5. Former long standing web dev here, and the notification function stopped working for me . When I click the bell i can't see any of my topic having been answered to in the last 2 weeks or so. The older threads still work. Maybe something's changed?
  6. Ahhh thank you very much. Not so bad then! I can live with 6 months on site as i plan to commute it to a longer term visa anyways. Cheers!!!
  7. Hola. Thanks to your amazing advice, i got my visa and will be relocating in 3 weeks. I'm looking for a place - hotels are insanely expensive btw (Adelphy49 suites, recommended here at something like 600 bucks/month, actually cost 3000 GBP / month on booking.com - not sure why). So i'm looking at long term rentals - and VRBO has great places for a grand gbp a month, which i think is fine but what do i know. For example this is super nice, but has a problem: I can't reach them - they take your money but they don't answer - did i stumble upon a scam? Anyways let me know or else i'll be getting fat at uk prices at tastoria lol . Cheers!
  8. Wow your really have done your research! Fascinating. I think i'll fold and go for thai tax residence as long as the new law doesn't affect my already-taxed saving stored in the uk. But what do you mean i have to be tax resident somewhere? If i de-residence from the UK by contacting HMRC after 1 year, and have been staying less than 6 month anywhere and continue to do so ad-eternam, do i get auto-magically assigned a tax residence at random? scary!
  9. Hello! So i may not have managed to hit the 50 post count but i sure managed to get my multiple entry tourist visa from London. It took a wild 48h so i'm really chuffed, but I read that 'waiting' to leave (i still have quite a lot to sell/empty out here) 'eats' into the visa time. Surely the 60 day start on entry , not on issuance tho right? In any case I'm chuffed, Nana here we come! πŸ˜€
  10. I mean apparently there's a visa where you can just put like 200k gbp on a bank account - littearly just a bank transfer, and voila, renewable till death. But i could be wrong. The student visa sounds cool as i'd love to learn muay thai - it's dope and i need the workout. I'll study and revert back in this forum to help others, you've all been so friendly! thank you!
  11. I'm getting the hang of this forum πŸ™‚and I love it! πŸ˜€ So, I'm planning to relocate to thailand, I have plenty of experience having lived in the PI for 3 years but like most of you, I'm concerned about tax residency status. Ergo, can't spend more than 5.9 months a year in Thailand. I searched and read some of you talking about 'spending 179 days in Thailand, 179 in vietnam and the rest in transit". But, here's the problem: There are no SEA countries with the same 'expat friendly' visa rules according to chat gpt. Singapore does have an investment program but if you thought forkiing out 10,000,000 bath was bad, Singapore elevates this to western standards of investment (millions of your local currency). I'm <50 (46yo), French, Permanent resident without leave of the UK (Until I de-residence) so that leaves me with the "waiver program", which clocks at a max of 30 days except for Brunei at 90 days. So i'd need to do : Thailand (6 months using tourist multi entry x2) -> Brunei (3 month) -> Vietnam (1 month) -> Malaysia (1month) -> Philippines (1month). Needless to say, this presents 2 major issues : a) doing this circuit every year is doable at age 46 but not particulary fun. Plus it's going to get very expensive in flights and hotels (Thailand good value for QoL doens't extend to the rest of the continent I'm afraid). b) The thai government is cracking down on tourist visa abuse - I'm quite concerned about getting blocked (i have to do 4x 2x tourist visas + 4 extensions until i turn 50.. that's not great). I like thailand and want to live there, not ruin my chances to save a few pennies... Finding a country that allows me to stay for just under 5 months would considerably help here, but won't ever remove issue #2, which i need to tackle separately . Anyways - TLDR is "are there any SEA countries that let you stay < 6 months on a cheapo visa" and where do YOU stay when not in Thailand? PS: I was thinking of somehting a bit crazy: I'm a sailor. So i could buy a smallish boat and leave 6 month at sea in international waters but that sounds like a bit of a hack lol.
  12. Hola! Just followed the forums' thread but even Adelphi 49, which was mentioned to cost about 1k / USD/ month on this forum last year, now clocks at 2.5k GBP - i'm not complaining - a flat that size center of london would easily be 10k/month - but let's be honest, it's not cheap either. I'm trying to establish of a 'home away from home' as it's my plan to obtain another visa while on site to stay indefinitely, problem is I can't commit until i have the visa, and vice versa - in an ideal world i'd spend 1500 gbp/month for a couple of months, it's just a bit harsh to spend 5-6 k per month for a place i won't get to enjoy that much... Thank you!
  13. Oh yes now that you mention it, given that i'm planning to stay for a while, i might as well do things properly. Which company did you use if you don't mind me asking? I have zero idea where to go πŸ™‚ thank you. If this is against the rules feel free to dm me!!!
