This is what I had yesterday, crab and avocado salad with a dozen raw oysters and a few glasses of white wine, at Viva on Sukhumvit Soi 8.

Later went over to Nana Burger for something to soak up the alcohol.

Haven't decided where I'll go today yet. Anyone have a special meal planned?

    How was the burger?

Thanks for all the level headed advice. @NanAtSOL @schnytzal @ruck

The last time I went to the Dr about something that I may or may not have contracted they gave me a set of two pills (Damned if I can remember what it was) and said that will cover anything that may be up and coming. Besides that they took a urine sample and some blood. Said that if anything came up that was not covered by the two pills they can prescribe me something.

I was hoping that someone could tell me what a good all purpose antibacterial may be (doxycycline possibly?) and I would start on that before my trip home and consult a Dr when I reach the Western hemisphere. I will stick to the general consensus on this thread... Just wait to get home to a Dr. I'll be back before Monday so it's not like I have to wait long.

What makes you think you got something?

If there aren't any symptoms, why self medicate? And even then why not go to a doctor anyway?

preventive antibiotics bring their own set of problems, such as nuking your gut biome (good with the bad).

    Totally agree with this part.

And I think it makes zero sense treating yourself for an STD you likely don't have, when you could just wait to see if you have it and then get the antibiotics, if you need them.

The only way this makes sense is if you have a wife and kids at home and you want to make sure there's no catastrophic damage.

  4. That said, I don't think messing with pharmaceuticals is wise, especially for things that can be cured if you get them.

Why not just mellow out and go for a screening at around 6 weeks? Even the most basic blood tests are about 99% accurate then, so if you don't have any symptoms you could probably just forget about it then.

And if you are really anxious about HIV, you can get a NAAT test at the Red Cross which is 99% after 10 days.

  5. Standard treatment of Syphilis (of less than one year) is:

    - a single dose of benzathine penicillin type G injection (you could just ask at the hospital);

    - or 14 days of doxycycline, twice daily (for those allergic to penicillin).

Actually, 7 days of this would likely cure Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, though not ideal first-line treatment. It is used when the preferred treatments can't be used, due to allergy.

If you wanted to prevent Syphilis infection (as well as other bacterial STD) before it occurs, you could just take one doxycycline a day, but it wouldn't cure an existing infection.

This is actually the anti-malarial dose, but it would stop a bacterial infection, just as it would stop a malaria infection.

  6. Full body checks can be 4000, 6000, 8000, 10,000 (and so on), depending on which one you go for. They are usually categorised by age.

I was looking at the one at Mission Hospital for 40 year olds. It's 10,000 and very comprehensive.  Might do it this summer.

  7. Generally, clinics just test for HIV and Syphilis. 500 baht or so, all in.

Best place is probably Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic (and NAAT research institute, so you get a free NAAT test).

Other things would be diagnosed based on symptoms, like warts, or herpes.

Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea urine tests are available, but I think they are expensive, and probably no point if you aren't experiencing symptoms associated with them.

Clinics here don't routinely offer them, unlike STD clinics in my homecountry

The BJ bars on Patpong were not well stocked tonight, thought the bars were lively enough.

It reminds me to not forget my golden rule: if they ain't interested, just pass.

There were 4 Meet the World staff.

Three were disinterested, just looking at their phones (I am glad I experienced Bangkok before smartphones became mainstream; good memories) and the other one showed a slight glimmer of interest,  but then bluntly said, "Buy me a drink." Lol 👎

The problem with Patpong and Silom in general now is that there ain't much choice anymore, unlike Sukhumvit where you have soi after soi with plenty of women, so you don't have to go very far to find an eager one.

Bar 69 downstairs was poorly stocked too, so I just went for one of the disinterested Meet the World females.

Planning on taking on more than one girl @NanAtSOL?

Haven't ventured up to Meet the World yet but love the sound of it.

As for me, a quiet one. Been on a couple of dates this week so not partaking in my sordid hobby for a while if this relationship pans out.

Just had one, Lek the Lackluster.

It seems to be a hit n' a miss, as with most mongering experiences.

Still got the job done, barely though.

Should have taken Letter G while I was drinking on Soi 7/1, but she had two guys in the span of two small bottles of beer, lol, so I thought otherwise.

The Wood girls were looking pretty good all across the board, actually.

I swear there's a pregnant sucker there,  unless she just has a big tummy, anyone seen her?
