  1. in that price range it might be kinda hard, but everywhere seems to have wifi popping up these days. i would leave the laptop at home. but thats just me. I like to travel as light as possible and also kinda unplug for a while when I am on holiday. I know alot of people will just use there smartphones on wifi too, which would be a nice compromise.
  2. i am planning on staying there in may. Looks like rates are around $85 USD for then. Im jealous of cerberus' $35 a night score. That would be a steal!
  3. Im all loaded up with every vaccine you can imagine from past trips, but my buddy just got his for our trip coming up to Thailand, and I think he had to pay ~$200 for everything he needed. I would just print out the CDC recommended for thailand and take it to your doctor. Depending on the doctor they are they will tell you need everyone of them, or say you got to only worry about a few. If you are current on all your standard shots (hep, MMR, etc etc) you might get out pretty cheap. I would look into student health (if your in college,) or city clinics if you are trying to save money. they might be cheaper there.
  4. i went to Bamrungrad. Its right off Sukhumvit. Nicest hospital I have ever seen in my life. I think I paid ~$60 for everything also. For STD screenings there are cheaper little med stand places in town, but heard they are quick to give you positive results to sell more meds. I dont know if that is really the case though. For serious issues I wouldnt hesitate to go to Bamrungrad for a second.
  5. i usually book at least my first night in advance. I dont mind walking around looking at hotels usually, but after a days worth of flights it isnt the first thing I want to do. plus if the airlines delays / looses your bags or something, you at least have an address for where you are staying. I have heard good things about Asoke, but never stayed there myself. Location looks good though. I usually will stay in that area. Nice area, close to skytrain, massage joints, and Soi Cowboy / Nana.
  6. When on Sukhumvit, I usually stay at Sacha's Hotel Uno, a small boutique place that is really nice. I like it there alot, but I think I might try somewhere new next trip cause I think there are alot of other good options in that area also.
  7. or there is Ha Long Bay in Vietnam also.
  8. I agree with the last post. I would go to Siem Reap. Airfare is a little pricy there though because of the monopoly (Bangkok Airlines I think?.) You can get to HCMC and PP cheaper flying AirAsia. If not Siem Reap, I would do HCMC. I wasnt a huge fan of Phnom Penh.
