Ok mate, thanks for the reply 👍 -
Is anybody else having problems since the forum moved recently? The “new news” feed doesn’t work and when I try to open a new page I get an error message.
-
In truth, why would it? You wouldn’t expect it in any other country. They are maids, not hookers. This line of thinking reminds me of a mate who lived in Pattaya for a while. He told me it warped his way of thinking; every shop he went in he wondered if he could take staff for ST 😆. And of course, that is ridiculous.

It’s just how it is here (space wise). Bigger normally means older. If you want big and new it costs. I was the same when I moved here, but you will be surprised how quickly you get used too smaller digs. Factor yourself in a nice pool too as most have them. The online searching can be difficult as it gets out of date quickly. Your best bet is to get an agent and just give them your requirements. You don’t pay them as they simply get commission from the rentals agreement.

If you want a 2 bedroom in a nice condo in a nice area (Phrom Pong for example) you will be looking at at least 35000thb p/m. At least. For my tupenceworth, you are better living slightly further away (Phra kanaong for example) and just making sure you are walking distance to a BTS. A couple of stops takes around 8 minutes, but could save you cash. Also, really question if you need the second bedroom. Many get one, but rarely use it. You are better off with a bigger one bedroom so the actual living space is larger.

Because once the website realises your IP address, it raises prices for stuff you have recently looked at. Using a VPN stops this. I use stuff like booking.com and Skyscanner regularly and have seen this happen many times.
-
Best to use a VPN when browsing, and then turn it off/change location when booking.

Taxi or Uber for travel around Bangkok?
Herbby replied to Raven00's topic in Transportation & Travel
It’s just shy of 19km. I just tried it on my grab and it was 296thb. -
Yeah, grab still is the way to go. There are a few news ones like Bolt too, but grab is still the most established. Don’t know about using a card at the airport. Not through the normal system I wouldn’t imagine as you still give the cash to the driver.

JAY FAI BANGKOK (Crab Omelette etc., )
Herbby replied to Vr669's topic in Restaurants, Places to Eat and nightlife
It is good, but you can get just as good food at half the price elsewhere. Worth doing once though. And the waiting time won’t be as long at the moment. I went during covid and walked straight in. -
It’s nice enough, be sure to do some smirking trips a s the waters are good around there. Taking a girl with you is a good idea if you know one who isn’t mental.

Bangkok last 2 weeks May
Herbby replied to Shadowman2013's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
No need. There are no tests anymore. -
Be aware, the fine will be recorded and could be problematic for future trips.
-
Just get an extension. Having an overstay on your record could be problematic in the future.

Bangkok last 2 weeks May
Herbby replied to Shadowman2013's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
Currently it is just registering for the Thai pass and then one night booking with an ASQ hotel. No test required before traveling. Obviously, you need to be vaccinated. -
Lovely. Too much is a bit sickly though. Chang Mai sausage is where it’s at.

talks of Test&Go to be scrapped and quarantine brought back :-(
Herbby replied to thomas9's topic in Bangkok News Forum
I’m not sure this is accurate. It is being reported that no more test and go applications will be accepted after midnight today. If you already have your pass you are fine but need to take an extra (free) test on arrival. Phuket is the only active Sandbox at the moment. This will all be reviewed on 4th Jan. -

You are good if you already have your pass.
