I didn't stay there in the end. After speaking to others I cancelled and changed to the Woraburi, which was really nice for a my couple of nights stay.
Quick review and photos?

As mentioned in the thread, maybe we are getting to the norm and previously was too good. My first trip I got 52b to 1 GBP, about a 20 % drop. Just budget accordingly.

Might be below your budget but Travelodge is good and guest friendly, I stayed there recently. There is also Holiday Inn Express close by.

I didn't notice a review on this hotel, so I thought I write one up
On my most recent trip (Nov 2017) I stayed at Sawasdee Hotel for 4 nights on Soi 8
I usually stay at Citadines 8, when I travel to BKK, but it was full on my dates
These hotels are separated by about 50 meters, as I like the neighbourhood, its quite and only about 300 from Suk Rd
I enjoyed my stay at Sawasdee
The bed was fine, it had a balcony and the bathroom area was clean
Also, it was nice to get a decent breakfast, buffet style, compared to the Citidanes breakfast which is poor
I paid $50 AUD per night and I guess the main reason BMs are reading this is to learn whether it is GF, the answer is YES
Would I repeat, again the answer is yes
My rating = 7.5/10 (Citadines gets a 7, as I mentioned, half a mark off because of the poor breakfast)
Thanks for the review.
Do you have any photos as this also gives some extra detail?

Will look into Holiday Inn, especially having a loyalty program with them. How long is the average walk? Thanks.
If you are fit you can do it in 15-20 minutes. There are nice shops and cafes and massage all along the road, so for a one night stay it is good. Silom Village is a nice place to look around, and you can walk to the Chao Phrya river in 20 mins too. I am loyalty member and got a free night and a free beer. You should be able to get a hotel room for about 2000b RO; the rooms are really nice. You can always take a motorbike or taxi to Patpong if it is too hot to walk.

I am next door in the Admiral Suites, which is good. I pass Marvel and it looks ok from the outside.

I have used fast track two times at 12:30pm midweek and Saturday. If you cannot queue/stand for longtime it is worth it. This was part of business class trips.

Yep. Major hotel lobby’s for me. Once you find the bar there will be a toilet not far away.

Stopped a few times and if it is in your budget then a good choice.

Stayed there Friday and Saturday. Nice room. No problem with visitors. Suggest you ask for a room in the main block or a high floor. My room was floor 3 overlooking the road. Not too much noise but it was there in the background, of course you can always just pump up th AC.
