  1. I use trip advisory for the initial search. That usually covers all the options available. And then from there I will either use hotels.com or Agoda. I think Agoda is actually owned by hotels.com. Some hotels only show up on one or the other and when they are on both the prices are pretty close. If they are on both I use Hotels.com since for every 10 nights you earn a free room, (worth the average value of your stays). Since I book for myself and my wingman I accumulate these free nights and I then use them to book us some one off trips like when we go to BKK we stay need terminal 21 but will use free nights to have a couple nights near Patpong. Agoda has a points plus program where you can earn airline miles on your airline of choice. I find airline miles to be the least valuable "reward" option so I usually don't use agoda unless I have no other option.
  2. Bangla Road is where the action is in Phuket from my experience. It is about 40 minutes from the Airport to that area. Last time we stayed there the place we stayed wan't as close to the road and was kind of dingy, I would not recommend it at all.

I didn't realize it was that old when I opened it.
  4. https://www.agoda.com/nana-tai-suite/hotel/bangkok-th.html?checkin=2017-08-15&los=4&adults=1&rooms=1&cid=1419654&searchrequestid=44859645-5ee1-467b-bc1a-d57f52d9e3ad Stayed here once and it was a real nice place. I tend to stay closer to Soi Cowboy now because I can get on MRT to go to work meetings. Also Agoda does allow you to view and filter prices in Thai Baht. There are a great deal of cheaper options on Sukumvit
  5. I have tried the crickets and they had good taste. I have not had the courage to try the larger bugs yet. Anyone have a perspective on those? That being said I would rather have the crickets than the grilled chicken livers on a stick, that was a texture and taste nightmare.

    Ice Hockey in BKK

The Ice surface at Imperial Samrong is larger, I think Olympic Size if I am not mistaken, but there is no Glass. The side boards side is wide open and there is rubber netting behind the nets. There are also no player benches. Rumor has it the rink owner built it for his daughter who was a competitive figure skater. The Rama IX is smaller than NHL dimensions.
  7. S Sukhumvit Suites is my go to place when in BKK. Price is right. Rooms are always clean, staff is friendly, and hotel is guest friendly. Some of the rooms are on the smaller side, but hell its not like your having a party there. The restaurant is great although it could get pricey if you stay there late after happy hour. We used to pay the extra for breakfast but after coming in so late often missed breakfast. Extremely convenient location near Soi Cowboy, BTS, MRT and Terminal 21 Mall. Usually stroll down the various side sois bar hopping during the day.
  8. I would find a nice place on the BTS or MRT but not directly near either location. Also with 6 months to play with I would think about spending maybe 2-3 months in BKK, then maybe a 3-4 weeks in Chaing Mai, Phuket, and Pattaya and then close it out back in BKK.
  9. Yes and it was great. After multiple trips in on China Eastern in which we somehow end up in the middle of the line to the end of the line, we attempted this. Were met at the gate, and shuttled to the embassy line and passed right through in minutes. Of course being China Eastern, bags did not make it and our guy moved us to the top of the line to do our paperwork and off we went. Well worth the 2000 baht and having the car waiting to go.

Yes, there are two RInks in the BKK area. The best and newest is in Rama 9 Mall on the 7th Floor. It is actually called the Rink. There is another one in another Imperial Samrong Mall. 3rd floor I believe.
