  1. I stayed at Woraburi about a month ago. It was good for $25us (890 baht) per night.  It has a nice swimming pool. The rooms look cheap, with tacky decor. If you're taking a girl you want to impress I wouldn't suggest it.  Many other choices right there on Soi 4...

    Dawin, Majestic Suites...

On Soi 2, I've stayed at ICheck Inn and Sukhumvit Solo. Both are good, but Solo has a swimming pool and restaurant.

  2. The quetion is do they let you sit in with your bar girl and watch her get her results, which would then be a green light for some bareback fun!I have been to Bumrumgrad before and taken a girl with me. We both went back the next day and had our results given to us at the same time. This is an enormous releif to see her get her results. Also the testing at Bumrumgrad is for PCR, so it cuts downt the window period substantially from about 3 months to about 5 days and that in turn adds to the piece of mind.

How much did that set you back at Bumrungrad?  I'm already registered there, so it's easy to get in.

  3. In Bangkok at the start of this year,  I suffered a bout of NSU  (not caused by unprotected sex but thro too much sex)   and as I know  that 1000g of Azithromycin would clear-up the problem so I went looking around Nana/Asok area for it.

Some Pharmacy would not sell it to me and the ones that would did not give me the correct information on dosage etc, but the Pharmacy next to Majestic Suites asked me the right questions and gave me the correct dosage for my condition.

    Worked a treat

    Sorry, but NSU?

  4. Anyone use Siam Legal for 1-year multiple entry visa? They claim they take care of all paperwork for about 15,000THB + 6,000THB Embassy fee.

I found some language schools that do ed visas but it's just as expensive.  Seems this would be a more hassle-free way.  Anyone have experience?

  5. If you are planning a trip to BKK for the first time, Here's a tip.

DO NOT BUY MEDS ON THE STREET.

Amongst your travels you will be offered everthing under the sun, Cialis, Viagara, Valium, along with a whole variety of "all natural" remedies intended on helping with "stamina".

I repeat, Do not waste your money.

While checking out some headache meds in a pharmacy, I asked the girl about Valium. She informed me that the only place to get ahold of it is through the Hospital.

    So, there you go.

Yeah, I was told the same thing by 5 different pharmacies... and then found one on Soi 4 that sold me Lorazepam. It looks legit.

  6. I have been to Bangkok twice (November 2009 and November 2010). Both times, I have stayed at Majestic Suites. It was perfect for my needs. Girl friendly. Rooms are adequate. Bathroom is fine. Daily housekeeping. Nothing luxurious but then for their rates, you cant expect much. Had two girls twice and the hotel had no issues. ID card is registered at reception. Breakfast is not buffet. Wifi was good. Hostess at restaurant needs to be more friendly. The location is perfect coz its just round the corner of NEP. 3 minute walk to Nana BTS. Planning to visit BKK again this year and have already contacted the hotel. They will give me the same type of room.

Just stayed there last week. Was good. My window actually overlooked NEP. Kind of funny to go around to NEP, pick up a girl, and then be able to see where you just walked from and still hear the music

  7. Sounds like there's gonna be quite a few folks in town this weekend. (29-1st) Maybe we should organize some kind of bar meet/pub crawl?

All meet up Friday or Saturday night, maybe around 9, somewhere like Spanky's, Las Vegas in Nana or Baccara, Dollhouse in Cowboy. One bar, one drink then move on to the next place. If it's really happening somewhere stay for two.

Have done these a few times in the past and they've turned into quite an adventure. Made some lifelong friends this way as well.

Let's do it. Just got in to my hotel. So tempted to go mongering to Soi Cowboy but knackered after that trip from Los Angeles...

  8. was thinking about using agoda but you have to pay full payment up front has anyone used this site and how do you rate it

I have used Agoda for bookings all over the world and never had a problem. I always compare, but Agoda always wins on price. They don't always have all the hotels, but lowest prices for sure. I think they're operated from UK but owned by Priceline.

Expedia is good and usually competitive rates. Also, they now accept same day bookings, which can come in handy.

  9. No way around it, first day is screwed. I usually opt for the noon flight out of LAX-Tokyo. Sleep the whole way. Then JAL gets into BKK at 10pm. Get to hotel, get food, chill out. Next day, wake up whenever, take it easy. Then hit up the bars at night.

Jetlag bothers me much less than the heat. Takes a couple days before I can go out during the day. Takes a couple weeks before I can go out during the day without thinking - F*ck, it's hot! - and feeling like I'm gonna pass out.

Jetlag always hits me when I get back. Sleep is screwed for 2 weeks.

  10. Hi All,

Has anyone stayed at either of these? Are they girl friendly? maybe two girl friend? And recommendations?

Stayed in CL 19, also. Not bad. The restaurant was good, if a bit overpriced. The room was big, the bed was a bit stiff, it had a shower/tub. They were guest friendly, however, they took ID on our way up and when I checked out, I had an extra fee - I think it was 500 baht.

Sacha Hotel Uno is on the same street, a little further down. I liked that much better. Looks a little more upscale. The rooms had hard wood floor, huge windows, a huge super-comfy bed that I just sank into, and a decent restaurant, and no one even bothered whether you brought guests back or not.

  11. Anyone had any medical treatment at Bumrungrad? Any recommendations or warnings against?

    Califdann

I got treated there for food poisoning. Amazing facilities. I've never seen such a clean, modern, well-organized hospital in my life. It puts the US medical system to shame. The whole thing - Dr's visit and meds cost me $68. That's about what it costs me to make an appt with my Dr in US, and that's with insurance.
