  1. Are you bypassing the Taxi meter stand at the airport? I have never even talked to a taxi driver when using a metered taxi upon arrival. They automatically turn the meter on and its only 400 baht or so going to Asoke.

I use Uber sometimes for trips around the city, but I know they have flat rates from some airports. Google "Bkk Uber Airport" and you will read reports of people saying the Uber fee is 1000 baht. Not sure if its still like that, but its worth reading if you plan to do this. If not, the Uber fees are generally just slightly cheaper than a taxi, so you won't save much. It'll be a lot more convenient and time saving just to do a taxi at the airport since they are already waiting.

I have not asked for metered taxi from arrival. The prices quoted to me were usually agents standing at the arrival area. The first time if I remember correctly, I paid around 700 Baht. So since then, I have walked up and got one of the taxies that were dropping off passengers.

Well, Thanks for the advise. I will try the metered taxi. Also I will check the Uber fare on my app. I have never used Uber outside the US. Does it work the same way everywhere in the world?

  2. I normally take a taxi from BKK to my Hotel on Sukhumvit. What I normally do is go up to the departure terminal and get a taxi for about 400 Baht. Normally the taxis at the arrival terminal ask 700-1000 Baht. This time, I would like to try Uber. Has anyone tried Uber and if so how was the experience?

    Thanks in advance

  3. I stayed there in January and didn't like it tbh the room had a weird smell and the hotel staff at night didn't seem that girl friendly. I mean I took girls whilst staying there but it was a real pain to get back the girls ID the next day. Had to fill out full address and all this other stuff in a book. Will not be staying there again.

Thank you I booked there already. May be I will cancel and book elsewhere

  4. I have stayed at Majestic Suites many times. I love their breakfast Konji with eggs in the morning. As everyone said, it is very close to Nana and the room amenities have improved over the years. Anand(owner) is very easy to communicate. This time, I was going to book the room there and Anand e-mailed me 1650 Baht including breakfast for one per night. That's when I saw some posts about the Holiday Inn. I have plenty of points with IHG and was going back and forth on Holiday Inn on Soi 22 and Holiday Inn express on Soi 11. After reading this board several times, I have now booked the Holiday Inn express for four days. I arrive early morning to BKK, and when I called the hotel they offered me early check in for 1000 Baht. Will post my comments after my stay..

  5. I am also a IHG customer with Holiday Inn. I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Soi 22 and Sumhumvit in Oct. 2014 and it was guest friendly. Front desk sometimes did not ask for ID. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Soi 11 in 2 weeks. I expect it will be guest friendly as well.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Makati , Manila. The staff was always cool. Doormen would give me a head nod and smile of approval on some of my FL pulls from Cafe Havana .

I am planning to book here using the points for four days in the last week of May. Would you mind sharing your experience before I book?
