Hotel Name : Amari Boulevard
Girl Friendly : Joiner fee 1000 baht
Rates Per Night : About 2300 I believe
Way of Booking : Refered from City Lodge Soi 19
Review of Hotel : I've been moved to this hotel 3 times when City Lodge Soi 19 was overbooked. Both hotels are managed by Amari, so City Lodge referred me here with no extra charge, paid for taxi, and they waived the joiner for me. The hotel has an excellent location on Soi 5, next to Gullivers. Rooms are OK, nothing special. Many Arabs stay here. I brought a girl from Nana Plaza and had to share the elevator with two women dressed in burkas. I can only imagine what they were talking about. The first time they sent be here I was put in room 911.
Thank you for the contribution. Yes i have seen many review that City Lodge 19 always send guest to Amari Boulevard. Seem they don't have good occupancy at Amari Boulevard.

I stayed in this hotel 2 months ago.
Overall, hotel is good. Clean rooms, nice decor, near BTS. Just walking distance to Soi Cowboy.
Main thing disappointed is the water pressure. Sometimes the water pressure drops while you shower and have to wait a while before pressure come back again.
Was told during booking its a delux kingsize room. So i though that its going to be king bed. But was given a room with queen bed. When check with recep, was told that all room are queen bed.
Recept during night shift (till morning about 10am)is very friendly. The one during day shift not comparable.

Can try JW Marriot, Intercontinental Bangkok, Grand Hyatt Erawan or Pathumwan princess. All near Sky train and major shopping malls.
Easy accessible to sukhumvit road, night life and many roadside shopping

Hotel Name : City Lodge Soi 19
Girl Friendly : Yes
Rates Per Night : THB 1498
Way of Booking : Internet Booking agoda, com
Review of Hotel : Clean, good size rooms, excellent location (across the street from Westin). If you don't need a pool this hotel offers excellent value for the baht. I especially like the walk-in showers that are large enough to accommodate myself and 2 bar girls. Don't bother paying an additional 150 for the breakfast or extra 200 for the larger rooms, standard room is large enough. There is also a City Lodge on Soi 9 for a few hundred less, but rooms are smaller. Ask for a room in the back if you stay at Soi 9 because the noise from Sukhumvit can be annoying.
Thank you for contributing to this thread. It would be good to let us know what is the date you stayed in City Lodge 19?

Stampede, Bangkok isn't Saigon. I've stayed at 40 or 50 hotels in BKK (usually 4 or 5 star) and have yet to be charged a joiner. I don't even think about it anymore. 6 or 7 years ago, you had to be more careful. Joiners are out there - like Amari Hotels, but in a small minority these days. Maybe more efficient for guys to post when they get nicked for joiners - then we can avoid the fuckers. ps: Almost forgot, still lots of joiners in Phuket, so do your homework. I hate that place now. It's been turned into a giant rip-off machine since the tsunami. To get the best prices, compare Hotels Combined, Agoda, WOTIF, & Latestays. wj
I do agree with you that most hotels, especially those around Sukhumvit are Girl Friendly. The reason i started this thread is make it a one stop info place for everyone to find out about various hotels. I ever come across someone was charged joiners fee when the hotel was actually girl friendly. With the information posted here (unfortunately not many reviews yet), members can know the hotel they are staying are girl friendly and will not be taken for a ride.
In addition, there may be possbilities that hotel may change policy from Non girl friendly to girl friendly and vice versa (notice I request reviewers to state date of stay at hotel).
So i hope more members will start posting here.

For a start, I will be the 1st to post here.
Hotel Name : Manhattan Hotel
Date of Stay : 22-25 October 2010
Girl Friendly : Yes, just need the BG to show ID.
Rates per night : THB 1200 with breakfast.
Way of Booking : Internet booking from www.agoda.com
Review : Hotel reasonable for the price. Room is big with a king bed. Personally I love the king size bed especially when working with BG on it. The bathroom has bathtub but condition of bathroom looks older than the room. Staff service from reception to bell boy to house keeping was very good. Initially room amenities does not have Tooothbrush and tooth paste. I call house keeping to ask about it and ask for a/c adapter. Within 10mins they sent them to me. Location wise, its at Soi 13. Its very near to Soi Cowboy. It took me only 10mins walk to Soi Cowboy. Nearest BTS station is Asoke about 5-10mins away. Wifi is available but is not free and its expensive if you want to use internet. I didnt get to try the breakfast because party very late and return hotel around 4-5am. Couldn't wake up for breakfast. There also a safe in the room for keeping your valuables.

I guess that for most people arriving to Bangkok, after taking the new train they will then need to get the skytrain and possibly a taxi as well (especially if carrying luggage) in order to get to their hotel. It costs me 350 baht to get a taxi door to door, airport to Sukhumvit Soi 8. The saving on the train will be about 100 baht - not really worth considering after a 12 hour flight.
I agree to this. Taking taxi cost 100Baht more and you will not be seen as a cheap charlie when you arrive at hotel in taxi.

I just stayed there last month.
Room is ok. Come with King Size bed (very comfortable), with safe and complimentary drink everyday. But I agree that the bath room needs some attention from the hotel. It abot old and water pressure is not good. But I don't mind and i will be spending more time outside and on the bed.
As for GF, I don't have any problem at all. When check in, the recept told me I must hand over the keys to the recept when i go out, then come back just collect the keys again. I thought they are using this procedure to charge joiner fees. But when I came back with a BG, they just ask for her ID and happily pass me the keys. No mention of joiner fees.
The hotel booking was inclusive of breakfast, but i didn't get to eat there as i usually return 5-6am. Went back room, do my "work" and slept till 1pm. Wake up go lunch with BG outside.
One more thing i was happy is that i arrive early morning at 6am. They offer me a room to check in but was a double room with 2 single bed. I told them I need to have a big bed. They checked and told me they have a room with big bed but still cleaning up and need 1 hr. So I just went outside walk around but found nothing interesting. I return back 30mins later and sat at the couch. Immediately the recept came and told me room is ready. Now that's wat i call good service.

I would suggest Agoda.com because you can book in your country currency. This way you will not be surprise by the exhobitnat exchange rate by your credit card company.

Thanks for the contribution. This hotel looks fantastic. Food poisoning from hotel buffet? That bad.
