  1. I’ve altered my dates slightly, so as to avoid the Vesak Day bar closures!

Now I’m town May 23-29. That makes my departure day Vesak Day. I figured it won’t be too bad... the bars closing at midnight the night before gives me a better chance of a hangover-free journey home ;)

  2. All booked up :)

November 4-9, staying at the Grand President on Soi 11.

I will spend the days quenching my thirst in the beer bars on Soi 4, Soi 11 or Soi 22.

In the evenings, I will end up wherever the beer takes me ;)

Always happy to meet up with any BMs who fancy a beer, or show any newbies some good places to visit.

Feel free to DM me. I will also join the LINE group nearer the time.

Only 2 weeks to wait! :) Just hoping that the nightlife will be back in full swing by then, following the royal funeral.

  3. Hi everyone, I'll be in BK for my very first time from Feb 27-March 3. Staying at a hotel near Nana Plaza area. 27 years old, indian descent, born and raised in USA. Wouldn't mind meeting up for a drink or 2 with someone who can show me the scenes and give some tips !

    cheers

Hey Skyscan. I'll be around on February 27, more than happy to show you around and have a few drinks along the way. If you haven't done so already, get the LINE app on your phone - it's really useful for keeping in touch with people while in BKK.

PM me your LINE ID and we can get a plan together.

    Cheers

  4. I'm sat at the airport in London waiting for my flight. Should be landing in about 14 hours for a 4-day visit.

Null, I'm staying at Soi 11 too. Last time I visited in December, the Soi 7 Beer Garden was still going. It was one of my favourite spots too, I'm looking forward to heading back there tomorrow.

  5. Probably just as quick to grab one of the waiting taxis, and you'll probably get a better price too.

For info, I pre-book my taxi through Tour East Thailand via Expedia, and I also book them to take me back to the airport when I go home. Costs around £35 for both journeys, so each way that's around 900 baht. Like I said, you could get a better price by grabbing a waiting taxi, but I prefer to pay a bit extra for less hassle when I'm tired!

  6. I'm not sure how long it takes to get the train to Sukhumvit, but I'd advise a taxi as it's quick and easy, and will take you right to your hotel entrance. No waiting for trains, no worry about having to change trains, no carrying your luggage.

For a 9pm arrival, if you pre-book a taxi to be there waiting for you, you may well be at your hotel by 11pm, which will give you a few hours to go straight out!
