Looking likely I’ll be in town May 25-31.
Always happy to meet for a beer any time of the day or night! :)
-
I’m on my way to London Heathrow today, will be touching down in BKK tomorrow. I can already taste that first beer
-
All booked up :)
November 4-9, staying at the Grand President on Soi 11.
I will spend the days quenching my thirst in the beer bars on Soi 4, Soi 11 or Soi 22.
In the evenings, I will end up wherever the beer takes me ;)
Always happy to meet up with any BMs who fancy a beer, or show any newbies some good places to visit.
Feel free to DM me. I will also join the LINE group nearer the time.
Only 2 weeks to wait! :) Just hoping that the nightlife will be back in full swing by then, following the royal funeral.

BKK November 4-9 for me.
A quick 5-night visit, but it's a chance I didn't think I'd get again this year so I'm determined to make the most of it...
-
I'm sat at the airport waiting to board my flight. Should be landing in BKK in around 15 hours' time.
I've joined the LINE group but no chatter on there. Is anyone else around?

Hi everyone, I'll be in BK for my very first time from Feb 27-March 3. Staying at a hotel near Nana Plaza area. 27 years old, indian descent, born and raised in USA. Wouldn't mind meeting up for a drink or 2 with someone who can show me the scenes and give some tips !
cheers
Hey Skyscan. I'll be around on February 27, more than happy to show you around and have a few drinks along the way. If you haven't done so already, get the LINE app on your phone - it's really useful for keeping in touch with people while in BKK.
PM me your LINE ID and we can get a plan together.
Cheers

Apologies if I should have waited for the mods to post the 2017 roll call threads, but I'm all booked up for my third BKK trip at the end of February.
I'm in town from February 25 to March 3. Anyone else got a February trip planned?
-
I've booked a standing ticket for it. Never got chance to see them in their prime, so a good excuse to spend another week in BKK :)
When there's a February Roll Call thread set up, I'll post my dates. Happy to share a taxi to the stadium if anyone else is going.
-
Anyone tempted to combine a BKK visit with the GnR concert at the SCG Stadium on Feb 28th?
Tickets go on sale this Thursday, November 17th, for anyone interested. I was planning on a BKK adventure at some point in early 2017, and have never seen GnR, so seems like the perfect excuse for a trip ????

I'm sat at the airport in London waiting for my flight. Should be landing in about 14 hours for a 4-day visit.
Null, I'm staying at Soi 11 too. Last time I visited in December, the Soi 7 Beer Garden was still going. It was one of my favourite spots too, I'm looking forward to heading back there tomorrow.

Probably just as quick to grab one of the waiting taxis, and you'll probably get a better price too.
For info, I pre-book my taxi through Tour East Thailand via Expedia, and I also book them to take me back to the airport when I go home. Costs around £35 for both journeys, so each way that's around 900 baht. Like I said, you could get a better price by grabbing a waiting taxi, but I prefer to pay a bit extra for less hassle when I'm tired!

I'm not sure how long it takes to get the train to Sukhumvit, but I'd advise a taxi as it's quick and easy, and will take you right to your hotel entrance. No waiting for trains, no worry about having to change trains, no carrying your luggage.
For a 9pm arrival, if you pre-book a taxi to be there waiting for you, you may well be at your hotel by 11pm, which will give you a few hours to go straight out!
-
I may just miss you Boski. I land at around 3pm on May 22. I will be heading straight out that night after a freshen-up at the hotel, so if you are still around then I'll be up for a few beers! I'll join the LINE group and give everyone a shout too.
-
I'm there for a week in late May, until May 26. If you arrive before then I'd be happy to meet for a few beers and show you some top places. I'm not a seasoned veteran, but learned my way around the scene when I travelled solo there at Christmas, and I'm coming back for another go!
-
Awesome, thanks for the info and the tip - I will check that out.

Hi, just wondering if anybody has experience of staying at Hotel Aloft on Soi 11 and whether it is guest-friendly?
I stayed at the Ibis on Soi 4 for my first visit at Christmas. It had a great location and was cheap, but I quite like the look of the rooftop bar/pool at Aloft for when I'm back in May.
Any feedback or experiences gratefully received!

Making my second solo visit to Bangkok on May 22-27.
Had a week there over Christmas and got to know a good few places, but hoping this forum can give me lots of extra bar ideas so I'm really ready for my return!

I’ve altered my dates slightly, so as to avoid the Vesak Day bar closures!
Now I’m town May 23-29. That makes my departure day Vesak Day. I figured it won’t be too bad... the bars closing at midnight the night before gives me a better chance of a hangover-free journey home ;)
