Mr. Plug

Late to the thread, but thanks Woody for all the intel and photos about Soi 8. I'm also a fan of the Soi. I usually stay at On8 (across from Bamboo) for my first few nights in Bangkok. I've also stayed at Hope Land Hotel further down the soi. Both are reasonably priced hotels which I've been happy with, but I will also check out the Promenade for next time. I hang out at Viva a lot drinking beer, and I've gotten in the habit of ordering their Marguerita Pizza. Viva has it delivered from "Otto" pizza around the corner (same lane as Lolitas and the sign is visible in your photo above), and it might be among the best pizza I've ever had. Try it if you haven't already. Thanks for the info on the new Brew House. That wasn't there during my trip last fall, but it will definitely be in the mix for my trip later this year. Took refuge in the Red Hog bar five years ago during a torrential down pour. That little white dog still hangs out there, kind of like a mascot. Personally I hope they do not put up a beer bar complex on that soi. I have always enjoyed Soi 8 for it's laid back vibe, and it's getting busy enough without adding that kind of traffic to the mix.
