  1. Follow signs to taxi stand on lowest level. Choose machine for type of trip local, luggage, people. It'll tell you what stall number your taxi is waiting for you at.

There can be tolls to sukhumvit area. Usually 75 baht total (2 tolls). If it's early morning I mention no traffic no need tolls, but I leave it up to driver. Sometimes tollway will be faster.

There is a legitimate 50 baht surcharge from airport.

Total cost with tolls and surcharge and meter usually less than 400 baht to sukhumvit.

On the way back to airport a bit after midnight no tolls, no surcharge, cost me less than 300 baht meter.

Stay away from the taxi guys inside the airport and use the taxi line and machine outside and you'll save some baht.

  2. I am also a IHG customer with Holiday Inn. I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Soi 22 and Sumhumvit in Oct. 2014 and it was guest friendly. Front desk sometimes did not ask for ID. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Soi 11 in 2 weeks. I expect it will be guest friendly as well.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Makati , Manila. The staff was always cool. Doormen would give me a head nod and smile of approval on some of my FL pulls from Cafe Havana .

I think the one on soi 11 changed from holiday inn to another branded hotel.

When I was searching for it last month online I couldn't find it listed. I checked it out on maps and it came up with another brand name.

  3.

As the popular phrasing goes "Up to you". I have allowed the hotel to arrange pick up in the past, however, I usually book this while on the hotel website. This is nice as they are standing at the exit with a your name on a placard and you simply hop in and go. They already know where you are going and the cars are usually quite nice and very clean in comparison to just any old taxi. The Taxis on the lower level are a less expensive option but some are quite worn out and held together with a prayer and some duct-tape. Then there is the train which is very inexpensive but kind of a chore as you must change to the BTS to further your journey. Even then you must either schlep with your bag/s down the street to your hotel or then get a taxi. The choice is yours of course. If you are not on a miserly budget I have found the hotel cars to be the least hassle and most pleasant experience thus far.

If you don't mind spending triple what a taxi will cost, then yes by all means, the hotel car service will work fine.

Never had a problem with poorly maintained taxis but that can happen. Just make sure the taxi looks good before you take off.

Just make sure taxi puts on meter. Some do try a flat rate which is usually more. Still will probably be half what the hotel is looking for.

  4. Try your current hotel for starters. Not sure how it goes at better places but back in my backpacker days it was common for places to have left luggage lockup room and you paid by the day or the week.

Thanks for that. I will be checking them out. I'll also ask at the hotel I'll be coming back to from chiang mai.

  5. I'm going to be traveling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and the flight has a 15 kg limit for baggage.

I was wondering if anyone has used some baggage storage service in Bangkok before.

Perhaps even an alternative way of leaving behind some unnecessary things or souvenirs I won't be needing in Chiang Mai but will want for my return home.

  6. There is supposed to be a good one on soi 11/1 beside the old check-inn. pho massage or something like that. I have never been but have read it in a couple of places.

I usually go out in on nut since i live out there. Very good massages for 400b/hr oil. They give extra services as well upstairs at expat prices not tourist prices.

Any more info about this? Name, address, price breakdown? Would be helpful. On nut is not far from where I'll be.

    Thanks.

  7. I think he's referring to Patrick's Fashionway on soi 11 next to the 7/11 opposite the Ambassador hotel.

Bought many suits there over the years and continue to go back.

I've never bought just shirts there but last time I was there I think the going rate was $20. My shirts are alway part of my suit purchase.

You choose the fabric and the pattern. Your fabric choice will probably affect prices.

The owners last name is Patrick but if you ask for Patrick, the sales person, usually a family member, will gladly cop to the name. ????

  8. Normally stay at the Royal President (Junior Suite) but now tempted to look at the Grand President (Deluxe Suite which is I believe Tower 2).

Have read about noise and suggestion that best to ask for a higher floor so would be useful for some advice on that. Is there an Avairy that need to try and avoid facing as well or is that a different tower.

Believe that they are both guest friendly but think the management company has changed since I last stayed at the Royal (Dec-13) so grateful for any updates on that policy.

Tended to find that the pool at the royal president was on the cold side - is the grand president any better ?

Liked the space in the Royal president junior suites so really looking for somthing similar and interested to see what it is like staying in Soi 11 as 15 was out of the way.

Any other thoughts on the benefits of one over the other would be useful. Royal President is the easy option but want to see if Grand President is worht changing to for next visit.

The pool at Grand President is much nicer. They have two pools. Both are roof top pools.

Tower 1 is a building away from the Ambassador aviary FYI.

  9. I stayed at the president place the room was big the shower was good size didn't notice the notice I did notice when I got a cab to the airport the door man ask how much did I pay before I said I didn't remember they said it would be 900 most hotels will get a deal its 600 to the airport all they did was take the tip from the driver I always gave then 1000 baht when I am leaving

Nice tip. Metered taxi cost me 225 baht no tolls and no tip. Usually ends up at 350 with tip and tolls.

Same price from either royal or grand, been to both.

  10. I have no personal experience with this lab clinic in Bangkok, but personally know others who do and they recommend.

It's a small storefront clinic on a cul de sac off of soi 11 behind the 7/11 opposite the Ambassador hotel.

You can check to see if they will do the tests for you there.

Also heard of a clinic near cabbages and condoms restaurant but not sure if they only do STD tests or not.

  11. Hello,

I do a checkup almost every year myself. Before i have done it always at Bumrungrat Hospital. But now i do it at Samitiev, because i have there a free checkup once a year. I can recommend both hospitals. For a normal checkup i need about half a day or even less.

It's actually very easy to do, and at the end you become a report and a short personal talk with a doctor.

What exactly you want to know in details?

What's the cost of the checkup at sametiev? Is it a government hospital?

If not, can you recommend a government hospital that offers these testing services?

  12. The asking price for taxis between the airport and Sukhumvit Road is around 500 bht. It would be cheaper if you could get them to use their meter but not much chance of that for a farang.

I always get them to use the meter.

Fare is less than 300 and tolls if they take toll road is 70

Last trip back to airport from soi 11 sukhumvit was less than 300 with tip no tolls.

  13. I bought kamagra off the street 1 envelope.

    I think I paid 50 baht. And I think a box of 50 was 1200-1500 baht.

I think it did what it was supposed to do. I didn't cum but that could've been something else.

I don't like medications and that was the first and only time I used any.

Last time I tried a natural helper from a Chinese doctor that was a bit pricey. Tried it twice. First time didn't notice much. 2nd time I increased by 50% the dosage, still within recommended guidelines, and was happy with results.

  14. I have claustrophobia, so I avoid elevators whenever possible. I've always stayed at the Dawin in the past, and the stairs made it easy for me. Does anyone know of hotels around Nana Plaza that have stairs like the Dawin? I was thinking of Majestic Suites or On8.

    Thanks!

Sorry can't help you with hotel info, but I would advise you to find a good hypnotist to help you with your problem. My cousin was cured of a similar fear using this service.
