  1. For short term tourists staying in LOS less than a month the DTAC Happy Tourist SIM card is the best. Available at 7-11 and any mobile or DTAC shops. Only 49 baht and very easy to navigate even for internet idiots. Top up with either 50, 100, 200 or 300 baht depending on your expected usage. I topped mine with 100 baht and at the end of my 4 day trip I still had a balance of 28 baht when I left LOS.

We stayed a month my son's phone was tetherd to mine, he was streamng cartoon's i was watching tv using filmon even watched FA Cup final whilst waiting for our flight back to UK total cost 400 baht for a month including internatonal  phone calls and sms.

Still had credit when we left, plenty of good deals around its all down to personal prefrence what company you use.

  2. Do these taxis they get use the meter or do they try to get you to do a flat rate?

Personally, if I were to stay in a hotel in that area, I'd stay on soi 8.  It's a much nicer soi in my opinion.

I would presume meter i have never stayed in a hotel in ths soi only drink beer and catch up with few freinds.

Never botherd to look to see if driver sets the meter just seen plenty of taxis coming up the soi dropping off  and picking up.

I will be more observant  next time but would think if a flat rate they would phone a taxi driver and not walk down the end a hail a taxi.

  3. Only problem with Tune lots of exra payment required.

Air Con 240 Baht for 24 Hrs,

Cable TV 120 Baht for 24 Hrs

    Towel rental 120 Baht

WiFi 80 Baht for 24 Hrs

So what seems a good deal ends up quite expensive, you can go for a cozy package. All above cost 370 Baht internet booking 440 Baht walk in price.

  4. The food there is okay nothing great had better for cheaper in BKK, but does anyone know about the WIFI in Terminal 21? And what you need to do to sign up?

All you have to do is show the information desk on the ground floor a copy of your passport.

You are then given a username and password.

  5. Try using this app,https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dom925.trainsity.bangkok i think it works well good if your a first timer.

    Description
Find your way around the city of Bangkok using the high resolution vector maps of the BTS, MRT and Airport Rail Link train network. The maps have small file size footprints but with many levels of zoom and can work offline without connecting to the Internet. Users can click the train station labels to open Google Maps or Google Street View, where they can use all the functions of the Google apps to visualize the surrounding area and/or perform routing for directions

I got an email from one of the mods today it said.

We have an issue with around 5% of members - some server fault.

We are doing all we can to fix it.

You will need to bear with us a couple of days longer I think while a backup is installed.

  8. My flight arrives in BKK at 7am Monday morning. I'm seriously thinking about the sky train.

If I take the express from airport I would change trains from express to city line then change again at Phaya Thai to get on BTS to Nana?

Just take the express to  Phaya Thai then the BTS to Nana, not worth going via Makkasan.
