I don't normally bash places but after my experience staying at House by the Pond ,I feel obligated to warn others. I decided to try out house by the Pond after seeing it recommended in a thread here.I only booked for two days even though it only took an hour to know I had made a mistake.I will be in Bangkok a month or so ,so I was looking for a serviced apartment and figured I'd try it out for a couple days. I arrive at the hotel around 8pm after 24+ hours of travel from the states.I walk up to the gate and am ignored by the guard who gets up and walks away.The grumpy receptionist finally shows up at the gate after my driver shouts something in Thai through the gate to try to get someone to come do there job.She shows me my room and asks for my passport which i thought she'd be giving back to me.I walk downstairs to retrieve my passport and she is nowhere to be found.The gaurd once again is no help as he just brushes me off.I look around some more before going back to the gaurd demanding to see the manager.The grumpy receptionist shows up in a towel and tells me they have to keep my passport! I demand to speak with a manager and she reluctantly calls who I assume is the owner or manager.She tells me they have to keep my passport until tomorrow since they do not have reception there at that time(what is the fat grumpy lady then?).I tell her I need my passport back or I will not stay there(should of just left then). She allows me to swap it with drivers license and I go back up to my room to finally take a shower. After getting out of the shower ,I start to notice just how bad the room is.There is some mold on shower curtain,paint chipping in bedroom,TV is 20 years old,ants in bathroom,etc.All of this for about the same nightly price as Majestic suites Nana .Majestic suites is cleaner,way better location ,great reception, good breakfast ,etc.What a fucking mistake ! Well I guess you live and you learn!But I will be more careful taking recommendations from this forum .:)
