I've always just went to a booth and got a sim/data plan there. This trip paid 100sim + 482 30day/unlimited. Last year 100+250, thinking i went to the wrong booth this time or rates could have just gone up.

always use a real sim and just get it from one of the shops in one of the major malls. Get a small basic plan for a week - I'm usually there for a week at first before going to Laos and back to BKK afterwards - and from there topup the internet from the app. Nice and clear overview where you can either topup for unlimited for a certain time or some amount of data. You can also check you balance if you have limited data.

I have a seperate phone with me that's basically on hotspot mode for everything else as long as I'm in thailand. No real issue and not bothered by the small sim fee. Indeed usually have a pretty good deals on data anyway. Just thought: if there is a trick to keep the sim alive, I dunno, top up 10b every month or something, I'd like to know.

Like AIS too, got the app setup and just topup from there.

What I was wondering: sometimes I have like half a year between visits and my sim expires and I need to get a new one. Not too much of a problem but one I could go without. Is there a way to keep you number "alive" from abroad?

thanks for the update, I'll check it out. Guess it's pretty much impossible to keep a place that big fully AC'd. Autobelays are nice, you can even go without a buddy. I do prefer rope to boulder, just normally a bit of a struggle without a trusted partner. I've seen some of these guys teaching courses in the outdoor areas and I prefer to pick my own belayer. I'm a climbing instructor too so you become a bit more apprehensive once you've seen stuff. Don't worry about the belay devices though. There are dozens on the market and as long as used correctly (the belayer never ever lets go of the rope beneath the device - the brake hand - no matter what device they are using) it's perfectly safe.

It's be a while until I'm back in BKK, but when I am I'll post here and we can find climbing buddies.

Oh come on really? At this point people are just flexing money and this has nothing to do with mongoring any more imo. If you are just there for the girls, why would you spend 5000b on a tequila-tower... I like the idea of just having a nice drink, enjoying the company of a girl, looking at other cuties and sure you have to pay for the pleasure. You can easily do that at normal a-gogo's, but this stuff... I'm going to leave this for the rich players who want to flex and I'll take my 5000b to a luxury massage place

I'm a climber but sadly at home right now or I would have joined. What I hear is that the place you mention isnt al that great. Hot and sweaty. But I havent been.

I can however recommend Stonegoat bouldering gym. Come before 14:00 and it's cheap, easy access by BTS or bus over Sukhumvit Road. Great fellow climbers there both Thai and international and even some fit girls working out. It's my go-to place everytime I'm in BKK. Got some great tips on of-the-grid outdoor climbing too, but Chang Mai, Tonsai or Laos are still better for that.

This forum seems to know everything so here goes:

I'm a rockclimber who also enjoys a stay in Bangkok or Pattaya amongst my climbing trips. This does regularly leave me with a problem: outdoor climbing requires lots of heavy gear which I do not always want to carry around or even take on a plane. So: who has some useful experience in long term storing/sending luggage to/from Bangkok.

Specifically for storing: where can I store a big duffelbag of gear safely for a few weeks or even months in Bangkok for a reasonable price? There are commercial luggage storing facilities available but they get expensive fast. hotels will store your stuff for maybe a week in advance of your stay - I've done that - but surely not for weeks or even months.

And for sending: I would like to get the afore mentoined big ass dufferbag from Bangkok to Laos (Vientiane) or at least to Udon Thani. (I would be traveling there the long way around and do not want to take the big bag myself) Any suggestions on services to use?

I usually like to plan my flights so I have to do a "really long day", helps keep my jetlag under control. Does mean I arrive in the afternoon and have to keep busy until a very exhausted bedtime. Sooo:

- Train so Asok, checkin, shower

I always have bath from the last trip so no need for an ATM right away. Including airport-lounge food I'm usually still pretty stuffed too, but also about 20 hours of anticipation soooo...

- Head over to preferably 7-heaven as is a crowd favorite to help think straight again.

- Pop over to 7-11 to get some basics like a few beers/snacks for the hotelroom.

- Grab a fruitshake on the way, go to the hotel pool, chill and preferably plan an outcall massage from Cherry for the evening

- Go to Pier 21 for dinner, back to hotel, grab a beer and enjoy whatever girl comes over

Might be a little over 6 hours by the time the girl gets there. And usually I will have to go out for a beer or two afterwards or I'll fall asleep too early.

hmm indeed. I've been doing the same thing and when you turn TF to Pattaya it looks like you're using a different app, but maybe I should not be so quick to swipe left and since I just discovered these forums it'll take a while but I'm looking forward to having TFMI as a resource too cause that looks like a gamechanger I want to get in on

It looks like a decent location but I'm open to other suggestions.

I'm not super price-sensitive but I do like a good value so long as it is clean, comfy bed, guest friendly, and has a pool. 

Spend 6 nights there last time, liked it a lot. Location is great, very easy access to everything. Breakfast is nice. Guest friendly though they do ask the girls to checkin at the desk and you have to come get them from the lobby if you order outcall. Beds etc are great, breakfast very good, the pool is small but it has a little (overprices) bar next to it which is nice. You'll enjoy it.
