It's commonly believed the vaccine won't help unless you are young, but is not true.

There are many strains of HPV, and some of them cause throat cancer.  Exposure to 1 variant doesn't mean you have them all, you only have 1 strain...so you could still contract any of the other strains.

Gardasil 9 would provide protection against any of the 9 most common strains you've not been exposed to, including HPV 16 and 18 which are responsible for most HPV related cancers.

I highly recommend the vaccine, which I got in my late 40s.  A coworker of mine had a tennis ball size tumor removed from his throat from HPV cancer and barely survived.

Sexually transmitted HPV types fall into two groups: low risk and high risk. High-risk HPVs can cause several types of cancer. There are 12 high-risk HPV types: HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, and 59. Two of these, HPV 16 and HPV 18, are responsible for most HPV-related cancers.

So you're saying I should stop eating all this bargirl pussy?

Well, this is their culture so you just grin and bear it.  It’s a positive to see the joy on peoples faces while they’re having fun, but three days is enough.  I had to endure a week of this when I lived in Pattaya.

Recall waiting in a baht bus to have lunch at Fuji.  A farang came up behind me and dumped an entire bucket of ice water over me, it was so cold   I couldn’t breathe for several seconds, a bit over the top IMHO.  I think it’s the farang that are the biggest offenders of ruining it for people having fun, a little water isn’t going to hurt you.

It’s not their culture though. The problem is with dickhead foreigners who don’t know where the line is.

There’s a time and place. It’s meant to be fun,  not an excuse to troll.

Last night I had ppl trying to open the doors of my taxi to ‘get me’ as we were stuck in traffic. It’s not local Thais enjoying their culture. It’s foreigners being dickheads.

  3. It’s a nice concept, but shouldn’t be 3 days. Also thought it stopped at 6pm, yet there’s a ton of idiots outside my hotel at 19:20 as I write.

It’s like that movie, the purge. An excuse for morons to go out and cause trouble and ignore the line of appropriateness.

The original concept is lost. My hotel lobby is packed with people hiding from it, that want to go out to eat but can’t. That’s not cool.

It’s a 20 min wait for a grab ffs, that’s everyone trying to avoid this bs.

Edit: LOL - I just saw a tourist couple in a Tuk Tuk get ambushed at the traffic lights. Absolutely rekt with several buckets of water. Dinner plans ruined. Thanks for playing.

  4. It happens. Once a month usually 😉

Ease your concerns. You said you wore a condom, so minimal chance of catching anything.

And as you sound worried, I assume you immediately freaked out and scrubbed yourself clean in the shower too, much to her embarrassment.

Fwiw, the vast majority of girls are clean and disease free. You might get some itchy cock or a UTI now and then. Nothing that a bit of doxycycline won't clear up.

But look - All girls bleed. All girls can give you an itchy cock or UTI. If you like fucking, menstruation is something to get used to. It's only a bummer if it's your sheets, for which I recommend fucking in the shower.

  5. Enjoy the trip! With just a week to play with, and as a first timer to bkk, imo i'd try and plan a rough schedule in advance.

Think what you want from this trip, what you like, and jot down some ideas in advance so you can make the most of the time here.

Otherwise it's common for ppl to fall for the first girl they see, and the first bar they're in, and end up wasting time and opportunity.

By the end of your trip, you should be exhausted and ready to go home.

E.g Rather than just "Soi Cowboy on Thursday".

    Your Thursday:

10am Breakfast. 11am Foot massage near the hotel. Pool and shower. BTS to shopping at EmSphere. Grab lunch there then head back to the hotel around 3pm. Relax and get ready for the night.

Soapy at La Belle at 5pm. Motorbike to Soi Cowboy. 6.30pm, play pool at Country Road, at 7pm grab dinner at Nana Seafood, at 8pm have a beer outside Cowboy 2 and watch the crowd. When bars open, circle Baccarra, Dollhouse and Crazy House - pick the best girl for ST at your hotel. Taxi to save time.

Kick her out asap. Then straight to Nana. Red Dragon at 10:30pm. Upstairs to Geisha or Billboard. Barfine a girl by midnight and eat together close by before heading back to the hotel.

    ---------------

So I guess my advice is to use your time wisely. Time is opportunity in Bangkok. e.g If I order a drink and dont see anyone I like, I bail before finishing. It's a waste of time to sit there drinking aimlessly.

At each bar I note down the numbers of the girls I like, and pencil them in for a visit/barfine the following days. With the girls I barfine and want to see again, I ask them to come to my hotel before work starts or to join me by the pool and an afternoon session. This keeps the evening free whilst also building connections with my favourites.

  6. What's the easiest/surest way to get a longer-term visa? I'd like to relocate to Bangkok for a year and rent an apartment etc.

Read an article about a new Digital Nomad visa coming soon which would be ideal. Otherwise what do you guys do? Just constant visa runs? Or you have a student visa or something?

Is it a pain in the butt to keep extending your tourist visa each month with the immigration office? How long does it take to do?

Can you rent an apartment for a year with only a tourist visa?

    Cheers!
